Almost half way up Beach Hill on Bell Island (across the road from the oil tanks which are located above the ferry terminal) is a solitary fenced gravesite with a headstone. It's the oldest headstone on the island. The inscription on the headstone reads: "Here lieth interred the remains of John Jackman late of the faire County Kilkenny Ireland who departed this life on the 2 day of December 1810 aged 60 years."
