I did the following headstone transcriptions on a trip to White Bay in the summer of 2000. I wish to thank Bob PITTMAN, owner of the Danny Corcoran Lodge in Great Harbour Deep, for taking me there. We accessed the area by water, and there was no indication upon going ashore that a cemetery existed there. Without  local knowledge, it would only be discovered by chance! No buildings remain in North East Cove now. The cemetery is located in the woods behind the former settlement. It  is overgrown with trees to the extent that the headstones remaining (most of them now fallen) were found scattered between mature trees and covered with moss. There may be other headstones which I did not discover. This transcription was done in memory of my great great grandmother, Diana (BATH), wife of George CASSELL, who is buried here. If anyone has any further information or photos concerning other persons buried here, please contact the transcriber. (Linda Elkins-Schmitt)

CASSELL

This headstone was almost impossible to transcribe and it was too late in the evening to take a photo. The first letter looked like a 'W' or 'M', followed by three or four other letters, then the last letters 'AM'. What followed looked as if it read  'in Memory...' , followed by:

 Priscilla 19 Oct 1880, age 47 years

(transcriber’s note: this may be Priscilla SQUIRES, wife of William CASSELL, who were married in Herring Neck in 1855)
