Harbour Grace

Photo of Garland's Cooper Shop & Box Factory in Harbour Grace.
My mother was Jessie Garland, daughter of Charles Davis Garland,
who owned the factory. The Garlands have for generations been
merchants, surrogates and magistrates of the past right back
to 1600.  Charles D. Garland came out from St. John's
in 1888, and started this business in Hr. Grace, his
brother James Augustus Garland and father
Geo. Augustus Garland went to Carbonear
and started their business.
