ST. MARY'S
A large settlement in St. Mary's Bay, in the district of Placentia and St. Mary's. The fishery is carried on by means of large boats, and agriculture is engaged in to some extent. It is a post town and port of entry. A magistrate's court sits daily. The harbor is fine and safe. Distant from St. John's by road, via Salmonier, 65 miles. Mail fortnightly Population 650.
