Enlisted: May 6, 1918 Embarked St. John's for Halifax, July 22, 1918, SS Columbella Embarked for B.E.F Nov 23, 1918 Disembarked France Nov 28,1918 Joined battalion in field Jan 5, 1919 Admitted to hospital Rouen, Feb 2, 1919 ( influenza ) Transferred to UK, 1 Mar, 1919 Admitted to Wandsworth General Hosp, Mar 3, 1919 ( bronchitis ) Discharged Apr 3,1919 and furloughed until Apr 12, 1919 Posted to Winchester until May 22, 1919 demobilized Arrived St. John's June 1, 1919 on S.S. Corsican During the time Jack was away, his family moved from St Anthony to Springdale. Among his papers there was a copy of a postal telegraph requesting his allotment be sent to Springdale. The date on the stamp is May 30, 1918.
