Name: Francis Walter Paul Francis Walter Paul was born on January 15, 1898 in Leading Tickles, Newfoundland. In 1900 his father and mother, John and Annie Paul moved to Badgers Brook. Francis Paul enlisted in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment on April 24, 1918 at the age of 20 and served until June 28, 1919. His cousins Stephen and Lawrence Paul had previously enlisted in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in 1916. Francis Paul was a small man of 54, weighing only 114 pounds at the time he enlisted. He had a dark complexion, black hair and brown eyes. He served at the following locations: England June 18, 1918 On October 25, 1918 he was deprived of one days paid for overstaying his draft leave. He was absent from 23:59 PM on October 23, 1918 until 12:50 PM on October 24, 1918. Upon returning home Francis Paul married Elizabeth Pike and the couple
had 14 children. Francis Paul worked as a river man and dam tender, and
he was also a trapper. He passed away on February 27, 1964 in Grand falls-Windsor,
Newfoundland at the age of 66. |
