Heart's Ease Beach

The present community of Little Heart's Ease, Trinity Bay has been equated with "Heart's Ease", even in "The Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador". IT ABSOLUTELY ISN'T SO !!! The two entities are at least two miles apart. While the locals refer to Little Heart's Ease as Heart's Ease (much as we would refer to St. John's as Sin John's), that is merely a local phenomenon.

For the sake of correctness, and so for the benefit of those who are 'removed' from the Heart's Ease area it should be noted that Heart's Ease is primarily a shortened name for Heart's Ease Beach (near Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay). The community ceased existence in the 1920's.

It should also be noted that the term Heart's Ease was sometimes used in reference to events (baptisms, etc.) for the Church of England adherents in nearby communities (Fox Harbour, Gooseberry Cove, Butter Cove, George's Cove)communities.

Three names (Baker, Pitcher, Dodge) have been prominently associated with the community of Heart's Ease Beach.
