Mrs Joseph Hynes Dies at Age 85 
Mrs Margaret (Killion) Hynes, 85 of 214 Roosevelt Ave. Pawtucket, a former housekeeper at the Pawtucket Day Nursery, died Friday while visiting her daughter in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was the widow of Joseph B Hynes.

Born in County Roscommon, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Gillron) Killion.  She had been a housekeeper at the day nursery for 20 years until her retirement in 1961.  Mrs Hynes was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Pawtucket.

Survivors include a son, Joseph P Hynes of Cumberland; a daughter, Mrs Kathryn E Houston of St Petersburg; a brother Peter Killion of Ireland; and two grandsons.  The Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:15 am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Park Street at 10. BENNETT, CHARLES
Passed away at Channel Cottage Hospital on November 24, 1973 Mr. Charles Bennett at the age of 82. He leaves to mourn his wife and one sister Liana at New Glasgow, NS. Mr. Bennett served with the C.N.R. for 30 years and was an active member of the Royal William Lodge 20, Channel. Funeral service was held on November 27^th with interment in the United Church cemetery.

BURNS, MOSES
Passed away on December 31^st, 1973, Mr. Moses Burns in his 89^th year. Mr. Burns was a former resident of "The Block" Searston. He and his wife moved to Stephenville a few years ago, where he spent the final span of his life. Left to mourn are his wife, two daughters, Mrs Carmel Martin of Stephenville, whose husband John is deceased, also Mrs. Mary Ryan of O'Regans, whose husband, Dennis passed on Christmas day, several years ago. Burial was at Searston.

CHAISSON, JOHN
Our deepest symathy to the wife and relatives of Mr. John Chaisson, aged 75 of Searston, who died on December 23^rd, 1973. Funeral services were held in St. Ann's Parish Church, Searston. Burial took place in the cemetery at Searston.

LOMOND, JACOB
The death occurred at the Channel Cottage Hospital on December 29^th, 1973 of Mr. Jacob Lomond in his 87^th year. Mr. Lomond was a well-known citizen of Port aux Basques as he was employed as a Section Foreman with the Canadian National Railways for 41 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Lucy, to whom he was married to 46 years ago by Canon Reid on June 16^th, 1927 at Port aux Basques. Other mourners were sons, Gordon at Marystown and Roland at Port aux Basques; daughters, Pearl (Mrs. James A. Musseau) and Margaret (Mrs. Joseph Levey) both of Port aux Basques; brother, Llewellyn of Grand Bay West; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. James Anglican Church and interment was at the Barachois Cemetery.

READ, ALFREDA
Passed away at Port aux Basques on November 8, 1973, Mrs. Alfreda Read at the age of 91. She leaves to mourn three sons. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Davis were held at St. James Anglican Church on November 10^th. Interment was in the Anglican Cemetery at Barachois Hill.

ALLEN, WILFRED
There passed away at his home on November 10^th, 1974, after a long illness, Wilfred Allen aged 71. He leaves to mourn three daughters, Vera (Mrs. Ira Mauger), and Eileen (Mrs. Randell Hardy) at Channel, Bernice (Mrs. William May) at Sudbury, Ont.; two sons, George and Wilfred at Channel; 16 grandchildren. His wife Frances predeceased him 16 years ago. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Peter Barnes were held at St. James' Anglican Church on Nov. 12^th with interment in the cemetery at Port aux Basques.

AMBROSE, ANNIE nee O'QUINN
The death occurred in Cambridge, Mass. On October 13^th 1974 of Mrs. Annie Ambrose formerly of St. Andrews and sister to Thomas O'Quinn, who still resides in that community. Mrs. Ambrose's death came quite suddenly. She was 80 years of age and leaves to mourn one sister, Effie who is 90 also residing in USA and her brother Thomas is 86.

ANDERSON, ALEX
There passed away on September 15^th, 1974, Alex Anderson, in his 72^nd year, while on vacation at Fortune, after a short illness. He leaves to mourn his wife Lucy, two stepsons, Alex Button and Donald Button, both of Port aux Basques; one sister Ethel (Mrs. W. Lisson) of Dartmouth, NS; one brother Howard Anderson at Stephenville. Funeral services were held at St. James' Anglican Church on Sept. 18^th with Rev. T. Warren officiating. Interment was in Barachois Cemetery.

Passed away at his home at Millville on June 15^th, 1974, Arthur Aucoin at the age of 72. He leaves to mourn his wife, Annie; sons, Clem at Millville, Walter at Codroy, and Raymond at home; daughters, Leona (Mrs. Gerald Gale), Clara (Mrs. Wallace Brake), both at South Branch, Cecilia (Mrs William Aucoin), Wabush, Lab., Bernice (Mrs. Ronald Hiscock) in Millville and adopted daughter, Christine McIsaac, at home; five sisters, Lucy (Mrs. George Cormier), Upper Ferry, Rose (Mrs. Archie McIsaac), Mrs. Beatrice Muise and Matilda (Mrs. Joe O'Quinn) of South Branch, Mrs. Minnie McQuarrie of Stephenville; three brothers, Narcus, William and Charles all of South Branch; 17 grandchildren. The funeral was June 17^th from St. Ann's Church, Searston, following Requiem High Mass. Interment was at Great Codroy Cemetery. The pallbearers were sons Clem and Walter and sons-in-law, William Aucoin, Ronald Hiscock, Gerald Gale and Wallace Brake.

BALL, MARTHA ANN
There passed away at her home at Isle aux Morts on October 18^th, 1974, Mrs. Martha Ann Ball, aged 81. She leaves to mourn three daughters, Edith (Mrs. James Spencer) at Burgeo, Lottie (Mrs. Eric Durnford) at Port aux Basques and Vera (Mrs. Dominic LeFrense) at Isle aux Morts; three sons, Matthew and Gordon at Isle aux Morts and John at St. Anthony; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Cox at Cornwallis and one brother, George Clothier at Dartmouth; 31 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Owen Coffin, were held at the Church of the Holy Spirit at Isle aux Morts on October 21^st with interment in the cemetery at Isle aux Morts.

BEAUCHAMP, MARY
Passed away at Port aux Basques on January 9^th, 1974, Mrs Mary Beauchamp in her 61^st year. She leaves to mourn her husband Budd, brother Sandy Spencer; two daughters, Sheila, (Mrs. Henry Legge), Florence (Mrs. Charles House) of St. John's; three sons, Robert George and Stuart; ten grandchildren. Funeral services took place on Jan. 12^th with interment at UC Cemetery.

BEAUCHAMP, BUDD
Passed away at the D.V.A. ward of the General Hospital at St. John's on June 16^th, 1974 Budd Beauchamp, in his 63^rd year. A native of Rencontre West, he leaves to mourn five step-children, George, Robert and Stewart Anderson all of Port aux Basques; Sheila (Mrs. Harry Legge) at Port aux Basques and Frances (Mrs. Charles House) of St. John's; brother, James of Mount Pearl; sisters, Monica (Mrs. Richard Willmont) of Milltown, Bay d'Espoir and Mrs. Gladys Keyes, of Madison, Maine. Mrs Beauchamp predeceased him January 9^th, 1974. Funeral services were held at Wesley United Church on June 19^th, with the Rev. TR Mills officiating. Interment was in the United Church Cemetery at Dennis' Pond.

Died suddenly at Benoits Siding, Doyles, November 5^th, 1974, Joseph Benjamin Benoit "Joe Ben" at the age of 89. He leaves to mourn three sons, Bernard at Doyles, Raymond at Port aux Basques and Thomas at South Branch; five sisters, Sarah who resided with him, Mrs. Harriet Perrier at St. Georges, Mrs. Eddie Casson at Vancouver, BC, Mrs. Rita Levesque at Connecticut and Mrs. Belle Warren at Miami, Florida; three grandchildren, Brenda, daughter of Raymond, Paul and Natasha, children of Bernard. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Precious Blood, St. Andrews with Rev. Father Devine officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at St. Andrews.

BILLARD, LILLIAN
There passed away suddenly at her home in Grand Bruit on June 26^th, 1974 Mrs. Lillian Billard at the age of 66. She leaves to mourn her husband, Herbert; one daughter Sheila (Mrs. Jerry Billard) at Halifax,; four sons, Clyde and Winston at Halifax, Onslow and Ward at Grand Bruit; adopted daughter Gertie at Halifax; one sister, Pearl (Mrs. Edgar Sheaves) at Port aux Basques and three brothers, Earl at Lewisporte, Hubert at Grand Bruit and James at North Sydney. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. William Perry were held at Grand Bruit June 29^th with interment at the United Church cemetery there.

BRAGG, RICHARD N.
There passed away at his home September 27^th 1974 after a long illness, Richard Bragg at the age of 76. He leaves to mourn his wife, Maud; three sons, George, Christopher and William, all at Channel; four daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Bernard Prosser), Shirley (Mrs. George Osmond) and Marilyn all at Channel and Dallas (Mrs. Elwood Turner) at West Hanover, Mass.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Rose at St. John's. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Peter Barnes, were held at St. James' Anglican Church on September 29^th with interment in the cemetery at Barachois Hill.

BROWNRIGG, FRANK
The death occurred on April 16^th, 1974 of Mr. Frank Brownrigg of Codroy, at the age of 56. Mr. Brownrigg had been in ill health the past few months and on April 15^th he returned to the hospital at St. John's where he failed to rally to further treatment. Funeral mass and services were held in St. Ann's Parish Church, Searston, with Father Gale, Father Gash and Monsignor Hull officiating. Burial was in Great Codroy cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Gillis, Bill O'Quinn, Ben Moore, George Fiander, Arthur Gale of Millville and Jerome Mitchell. Mr. Brownrigg moved from Corner Brook with his family some time ago and after residing in Millville for a period of time, moved into a newly built home in Codroy. Left to mourn are his wife, the former Monica Reid of Codroy and seven children, Harry, Gerard, Peter, Donald, Catherine and Patricia.

Died at Channel on November 13^th, 1974, age 74.

CARTER, LESLIE R.
Passed away suddenly as the result of a car accident on November 9^th, 1974, Leslie R. Carter, son of Rosie and the late Leslie Carter, at the age of 19. He leaves to mourn his mother; five brothers, Cecil, Albert and Robert, Port aux Basques, Winston, New Glasgow and Charles, Labrador City; three sisters, Eileen (Mrs. George Kuhl), Santa Barbara, California, Winnie (Mrs. Richard Allen), South Brookfield, NC and Linda (Mrs. Albert Ingram), Goose Bay. Funeral services were held November 14^th at St. James' Anglican Church with the Rev. Owen Coffin officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at Barachois Hill.

CHANT, MABLE
There passed away in November (1974) at the Grace General Hospital, St. John's, Mrs Mable Chant, formerly of Port aux Basques, at the age of 63. Left to mourn are her husband William, now residing in Fredrickton, Notre Dame Bay; four sons, Edwin and Raymond at Brampton, Ont., George at Bras d' Or, Cape Breton, Garfield at Carmanville; five daughters, Doris (Mrs. Morgan Richards), St. Catherines, Ont., Joyce (Mrs. Carl Wheaton), Fredrickton, Notre Dame Bay, Freda (Mrs. Calvin Whatton), Corner Brook, Olive (Mrs. Claude Janes) Cape Ray and Mrs. Bonnie Taite, Kitchener Ont.; 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The funeral took place in Frederickton.

There passed away on December 17^th, 1974, Henry Cox of Rose Blanche, in his 55^th year. Funeral services were conducted at Rose Blanche by the Rev. Morgan, with interment in the Anglican cemetery there.

There passed away suddenly at her home at Channel on October 10^th, 1974, Mrs. Elizabeth Currie, at the age of 70. She leaves to mourn her husband George; one son Maxwell and one daughter, Esther (Mrs. Christopher Bragg) both at Channel; two sisters, Esther Ann (Mrs. Jerome Blagdon) at Coomb's Cove, Fortune Bay and Mrs. Harriet Vallis in Ontario; three brothers, Benjamin Hepditch and Philip Hepditch at English Harbour West and David Hepditch at Fortune; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, Rose Blanche on October 12^th, with Rev. D. Morgan officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at Rose Blanche.

FELTHAM, ALEX
The sudden death of Mr. Alex Feltham in his 60^th year occurred at Channel Cottage Hospital, on February 6^th, 1974. Mr. Feltham, a prominent citizen of Channel, Port aux Basques was born and spent his lifetime in this town. He served on the PAB consolidated School Board since its formation and prior to that he was on the United Church School Board. He was also a member of the of the United Church Property Committie. Mr. Feltham was employed by the town as a carpenter for over 15 years and he has been chief operator at the Bruce Arena since its opening. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Dorcas; 4 sons, Gordon at St. Bruno, Que., George, who is stationed with the RCAF in Germany, Richard, at Toronto and David at Port aux Basques; 3 daughters, Jean, (Mrs. Dan Olson) of Los Angeles, Shirley, (Mrs. M. Gannil) of Los Angeles, Mabel, (Mrs. Ken Spencer) of Port aux Basques; 13 grandchildren, one brother, John, of Port aux Basques, foster brother, Stan MacKenzie of Yarmouth, NS; 3 sisters, Ethel, (Mrs. Alex Matthews) of Port aux Basques, Grace, (Mrs. Baxter Squarey) of Port aux Basques and Florence, (Mrs. George White) of Hudson, Que.

HAYMAN, DORA nee PORTER
The sudden death of Mrs Dora Hayman in her 64^th year occurred at her home in Lakes Brook, Port aux Basques on February 13, 1974. Born at Fox Island, Dora Porter, she moved to Port aux Basques 17 years ago. She leaves to mourn her husband, Samuel, one sister, Florence, (Mrs. Ward Vardy) of Port aux Basques, two brothers, Mr. Edwin Porter of Port aux Basques, and Mr. Allan Porter of Oshawa, Ont. The funeral service conducted by Rev. W. Davis took place at St. James Anglican Church on February 16^th. Interment was in the Borsowlos Cemetery.

HIBBS, REGINALD
POIRIER, PAUL
Special masses were celebrated at St. Andrews and Searston for the drowned husbands of Christina (MacDonald) Hibbs and Margaret (MacDonald) Poirier. Both men, Paul Poirier aged 43 and Reginald Hibbs aged 48 were lost at sea when their fishing boat overturned on July 20^th, 1974. To date all efforts in trying to locate the bodies of the drowned victims have failed.
Reginald Hibbs' body was recovered Aug. 9^th. Paul Poiriers' body was never recovered to my knowledge.

HODDER, MARGARET - At Margaree on April 25^th,1974, aged 38. Wife of Archibald Hodder.

Died at Corner Brook on November 29^th, 1974, aged 78.

KEEPING, EDWARD S.
There passed away at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, on September 21^st, 1974, Edward keeping, at the age of 72. He leaves to mourn his wife Alice; four sons, Israel, Ralph and Steward of Port aux Basques and Wilson at Toronto; three daughters, Julie (Mrs. Robert Willis), Toronto, Mary (Mrs. Frank Carew), Corner Brook and Hilda at home; 17 grandchildren. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Peter Barnes, were held at St. James' Anglican Church on September 24^th with interment in the cemetery at Barachois Hill.

KEEPING, MARY
Passed away at Channel Cottage Hospital on May 25^th, 1974, after a lengthy illness, Mrs. Mary "Mollie" Keeping at the age of 67. She leaves to mourn her husband, Maxwell; daughter, Joan (Mrs. Alfred Wilson) and four grandchildren. Funeral service was held May 27th at St. Michael's Church, Port aux Basques, with requiem mass offered by Father Gash and Father Gale. Interment was in the Anglican cemetery at Barachois Hill, with Rev. Owen Coffin assisting in the graveside service.

KEEPING, MINTER
The very sudden death of Mr. Minter Keeping in his 64^th year occurred at his home on Charles Street on March 2^th, 1974. Mr. Keeping was born at Burnt Islands and was a long time resident of Port aux Basques. He was a war veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 11. He leaves to mourn his wife, Isabel, three daughters, Greta, (Mrs. Cecil J. Strickland), Ruth,( Mrs. Mark Symes), Louise, living at home; sister, Sarah at Halifax and five grandchildren. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Warren and Major Brenson, Chaplain of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11 took place at St. James Anglican Church. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11 were in attendance. Interment was in the Borsowlos Cemetery.

KEEPING, PRISCILLA
There passed away at Channel Hospital on October 9^th, 1974, Mrs. Priscilla Keeping in her 65^th year. She leaves to mourn three sons, Gerald, Herbert and Morgan; one daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Francis McDonald) all of Port aux Basques; one sister, Mrs. Jane Sheaves and one step-sister, Mrs. Nellie Gaulton both at Port aux Basques; 7 grandchildren. The funeral service, conducted by Lieut. Wilson Noble, was held at the Salvation Army Citadel, with interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery.

KENDALL, EMANUEL
Passed away peacefully July 12^th, 1974 at his home in Ramea after a long illness, Emanuel Kendall at the age of 74. He leaves to mourn besides his wife Rita, 2 daughters, Maude at Scarborough, Ont., and Alice at Dartmouth; 4 sons, Norman at Ramea, Edward and Cecil at Dartmouth, and James at Goose Bay; one brother, Austin at Ramea; 4 sisters, Rita at Ramea, Alice at Dartmouth, Frances at New York, and Lucy at North Sydney; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Anglican Church, Ramea, July 14^th with Rev. Lewis officiating.

LAWRENCE, WALLACE
Passed away at Channel Cottage Hospital on November 13^th 1974, after a lengthly illness, Wallace Lawrence, at the age of 67. He leaves to mourn his wife Lucy, six daughters and six sons; also 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Salvation Army Citadel on Nov. 16^th, with Lieut. Wilson Noble officiating. Interment was in the Salvation Army cemetery at Dennis' Road.

Passed away on February 13, 1974, after a lenthly illness, Mrs. Myrtle LeRiche of Charles St. in her 64^th year. Born Myrtle Anderson of Port aux Basques she married the late Mr. John LeRiche. She leaves to mourn four daughters, Dorothy, (Mrs. Morgan Anderson) of Halifax, Elizabeth, (Mrs. Kenneth Green) of Port aux Basques, Lorena, (Mrs. Charles Anderson) of Port aux Basques, and Rosena, (Mrs. Owen) Pike of St. John's, four sons, John, James, Donald and Wilson all of Port aux Basques, one sister, Lillian Anderson, two brothers, Hubert Anderson of Port aux Basques and Donald Anderson of North Sydney, NS, 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Warren took place at St. James Anglican Church on February 17^th. Interment was in the Anglican cemetery on High Street.

The accidental death of Mrs. Evelyn Lorraine MacDonald in her 27^th year, her husband, Mr. Stephen MacDonald in his 29^th year and their two children, Sherry Lee aged 6 and Christopher aged 3 occurred near their home in Port Hawkesbury, NS on April 11^th, 1974. The former Lorraine Clothier received her education in Port aux Basques. She leaves to mourn her parents, Mr. And Mrs. John Clothier, three brothers, David at Searston, Max at Halifax and James at home; three sisters, Barbara, Greta, (Mrs. Lloyd Rossiter) and Cathy, (Mrs. Kieth Patey), all at Port aux Basques. Stephen was born and educated at Port aux Basques and also worked an apprenticeship with Bowaters at Corner Brook and when this was completed he moved to Port Hawkesbury, NS. He leaves to mourn his parents, Mr. And Mrs. John MacDonald, two sisters, Geraldine, (Mrs. Alex Osmond) and Kathleen, Mrs (Gerald Anderson) both of Port aux Basques. Funeral services for this family were held at St. James Anglican Church on April 15^th with Rev. Owen Coffin officiating. Interment was at the Barachoix Cemetery.

There passed away at the Thomas Roddick Hospital at Stephenville, on December 23^rd, 1974, after a short illness, James MacIsaac, of Doyles at the age of 73. He leaves to mourn three sons, Michael and Gordon at Doyles and Ambrose at Deer Lake; three daughters, Rita (Mrs. Leslie Pinhorn), Marjorie (Mrs. Allan English) at Doyles and Stella (Mrs. William Sutton), Port aux Basques; two brothers, Martin at Stephenville and Bert at Deer Lake; two sisters, Eva (Mrs. Harvey Squarey), Deer Lake and Mary (Mrs. Angus MacNeil); 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His wife predeceased him 33 years ago, December 21^st. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Precious Blood, St. Andrews. Interment was in the cemetery at St. Andrews.

There passed away suddenly on November 6^th, 1974, Alexander Matthews, at the age of 71. Special masses were celebrated at St. Andrews and Searston for the drowned husbands of Christina (MacDonald) Hibbs and Margaret (MacDonald) Poirier. Both men, Paul Poirier aged 43 and Reginald Hibbs aged 48 were lost at sea when their fishing boat overturned on July 20^th, 1974. To date all efforts in trying to locate the bodies of the drowned victims have failed. Reginald Hibbs' body was recovered Aug. 9^th. Paul Poiriers' body was never recovered to my knowledge.

Passed away at her home in Port aux Basques Mrs. Ivy Skeard in her 72^nd year on March 1^st, 1974. Born at LaPoile, Ivy Francis married the late Walter Skeard who passed away nine years ago. She leaves to mourn two sons, Elizah and Henry both residing at Port aux Basques, brother, Mr. E. Francis of Harbour Le Cou, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The death occued during the week of Mrs. George Smith, the former Mary O'Regan of Millville. She is survived by her husband, George, three sons and two daughters. Funeral services were at Searston. TOMPKINS, FATHER RICHARD G.
Father Richard G. Tompkins, parish priest of Curling for the past five years, passed away at Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook in the early morning of September 1^st, 1974. He was 62 years of age. Father Tompkins was born in the Codroy Valley on July 26^th, 1912 the son of the late James Tompkins and Ursula Burke. He leaves to mourn three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Mary McCormick, who kept house for him for over twenty years, Margaret (Mrs. Fred Thompson) of St. John's, Mrs. Patricia Page of New Hampshire, Frank and Stan of the Codroy Valley and James of Ottawa. The funeral mass was celebrated at St. Ann's Church at Searston on Sept. 10^th 11:30 am. Burial was held in the family plot of the church cemetery.

GILLAM, DAVID JAMES
David James Gillam, of Robinsons, was drowned June 5^th, 1975, while on a fishing trip with a companion at Heatherton. The men were fishing at Plaster Pond when their small rubber boat overturned. The other man swam ashore. The body of Mr. Gillam was recovered about three hours later. Mr. Gillam, 35, was the only son of Mrs. Gillam and the late James Gillam. He was married and had two sons.

Passed away at Channel Hospital after a lengthy illness, Samuel J. Melbourne in his 76^th year. Predeceased by his wife Jenny, five sons and one daughter. Mr. Melbourne was a member of the Canadian Legion and joined the army in the First World War. He was also a member of the Masonic Order. He served with the Nfld Railway and CN railways for 33 years and at the time of his retirement, was a conductor on the CNR passenger train. Funeral services took place from Wesley United Church on October 25^th, 1975 Interment in the United Church Cemetery.

FUDGE, ROBERT
Robert Fudge in his 83^rd year passed away at Port aux Basques Hospital on June 25^th, 1976. Robert was born at Southern Harbour, Hermitage Bay, where he spent his boyhood. From there he moved to Grole, where he spent the largest portion of his days. When it was affected by centralization he moved to Burnt Islands to live with his daughter, Evelyn. He is survived by his wife, Effie; three sons, six daughters; one sister and a large number of grandchildren. Funeral services took place from the Anglican Church at Burnt Islands June 28^th, with interment in the Anglican Cemetery.

Passed peacefully away December 9^th, 1976 John Richard Marks aged 72, at his home in Burnt Islands. He leaves to mourn his wife, Katherine; one daughter, Ruby Mae; two sons, Henry and Garfield in Alberta; one daughter-in-law; eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. Marks was buried at the Burnt Islands Cemetery.

MEAD, GEORGE
We regret to announce the passing of George Mead, originally of Foxroost, in his 99^th year. Mr. Mead moved to Neil's Harbour, Cape Breton at an early age. After a number of years as a fisherman he moved to North Sydney, where he worked until his retirement. At the time of his death he was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. E. McGinn of North Sydney. Mr. Mead is survived by two sons and one daughter; twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Mother of Joseph Richards of Halifax, NS, Morgan Richards of St. Catherine's with whom she resided, Jessie (Mrs. Henery MacKinnon) of Brantford, Ont., Alfreda (Mrs. Charles Battiste) of Port aux Basques, Elizabeth (Mrs. James Connolly, Bessie (Mrs. Norman Brayon) both of North Sydney; sister of James Bateman of Halifax; also survived by thirty-seven grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

ROBERTS, EDITH
Passed away, Mrs. Edith Roberts, aged 85. She leaves to mourn one son, Hartley at Port aux Basques and three daughters, Mrs. Guy Sheaves, Mrs. Harold Rose, and Mrs. Garnet Strickland all at Port aux Basques; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

ROBERTS, STANLEY
There passed away after a short illness at Channel Hospital on June 12^th, 1976, Stanley G J Roberts in his 68^th year. Left to mourn are his wife Martha Jane; daughter Mary (Mrs. Herman Avery), St. John's; sons, Sidney, Stanley, and Joseph, Port aux Basques; sister Mrs. Nina Ball, Port aux Basques; step sister, Mrs. Carrie Kendell, Bay d'Spoir; 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery.

ROSE, REGINALD G.
There passed away at Channel Cottage Hospital on August 17^th, 1976 Reginald Rose at the age of 76. He leaves to mourn his wife Violet; two sons, Samuel at Port aux Basques, and Robert at Lewisporte; six daughters, Mary (Mrs. Max Kettle), Kathleen (Mrs. Eric Knott), Jane (Mrs. James Chaulk), all at Channel, Margaret (Mrs. Rollie Zwicker) of Greenwood, NS., Joan (Mrs. John Wahay) of Windsor Jct. NS, and Edith (Mrs. James Parsons) of St. John's; one sister, Mrs. Tryphena Davis; twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from St. James Anglican Church officiated by Rev. P. Barnes. Interment at Barachois Cemetery.

SAVOURY, JOSEPH
There passed away at Channel Hospital April 17^th, 1976, Joseph Savoury of Burnt Islands, age 65. He leaves to mourn wife, Annie; seven sons, Charles at Sydney, Norman at Rose Blanche, Matthew at Waterloo, Ont., Harold at Isle aux Morts, Junior, Gerald and Roland at home; two daughters, Mrs. Rose Fitzgerald in Germany and Mrs. Eva Moores at Fortune; 19 grandchildren. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Morgan took place April 20^th with interment in the Anglican Cemetery at Burnt Islands.

SAVORY, JOHN
There passed away at Channel Hospital June 3^rd, 1976, John Savory age 59 years. Leaves to mourn his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Perry and David; two daughters, Loretta (Mrs. Lorne Kettle) and Edith (Mrs. Gary Short) all at Port aux Basques. Funeral service from St. James Anglican Church June 6^th. Interment at Barachois Cemetery.

SPENCER, DAVID
There passed away on October 5^th, 1976 at Corner Brook Hospital, David Spencer at the age of 27, son of Niomi and the late James H. Spencer of Channel. Also left to mourn their very sad loss are his wife, Mabel; daughter, Tina; sisters, Florence (Mrs. Royden Murphy) of Boston, Mass., Jean (Mrs. Robert Ingram) of Mouse Island, Mary of Channel; brother, James at Channel.

There passed away at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, on January 10^th, 1976, Mr. Stephen Spencer of Charles St., Channel, in his 58^th year. Left to mourn besides his wife Greta; three sons, Robert, Louis and Kenneth; three daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Harry Osmond), Kathleen (Mrs. George Critchell) and Linda (Mrs. Kevin Melbourne) all of Channel. Interment took place from St. James Church to the cemetery at Barachois Hill.
