Passed away peacefully at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, on Thursday, December 8th, 2016, Ruben Baggs, age 65. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Kathleen Baggs, nephew Robert Steward, brother-in-law Mervin Hussey. Left to mourn with loving memories are his son Ruben Frederick Baggs of St. John's, brothers Maxwell (June) of Gander, Roy (Sharon) of Gander, Mike (Verna) of Pasadena, Frank (Terri) of Torbay, Clyde of Grand Falls-Windsor, sisters Mary of Benton, Madeline (John) of Ontario, Eileen (Brian) of Gander, Nieces, Nephews, family and friends. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on Friday, December 9th. A private Funeral service was held on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 A.M. from Stacey's Funeral Home. Passed peacefully away at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay on Friday, December 16, 2016 Stewart Charles Best age 85 years of Wesleyville. Predeceased by his parents Eva and Joseph Best; wife Neta; sister June Hounsell; brothers-in-law Lloyd Hounsell and Gordon Miller. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons Derrick(Patsy) of Wesleyville and Andy(Cynthia) of Wesleyville; daughter Michelle Keats of Wesleyville; brothers Joseph(Violet) of Wesleyville and Beaton(Muriel) of Wesleyville; sisters Maxine Miller of Red Harbour and Melina Humphries(Lloyd) of Valleyfield; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. DONAHUE, Captain James Lawrence (Larry)
September 9, 1930 - December 13, 2016

Passed away suddenly at home with his wife by his side, Captain James Lawrence (Larry) Donahue on Tuesday, December 13th, 2016. Predeceased by his father and mother, James and Gertrude Donahue of Miramichi, New Brunswick, brothers Herbert and timothy, and sister Anne Marie. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife Kay, stepsons John (Linda), Paul (Janice), step-daughter Mary Henderson (Al), brothers Jerry (Doris), Robert (Susan), Donald (Anne), Cyril (Mary Jane), sisters Joan Goodfield (Gerry), Mary Conte (Tony) and sister-in-law Christine Donahue. Also survived by grandchildren Sarah, Lauren, Nicole, Brooke and Nick Kattenbusch, many nieces, nephews and their children. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on Thursday, December 15th from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Friday, December 16th from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 A.M. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations in Larry's memory may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 10 Bishop St. Gander, NL. A1V 1V3 Larry came to Newfoundland with the Military as Controller of St. John's C. F. Base. On retirement in 1975, he moved to Gander, NL where he worked with the Federal Government at U. I. C. and later at the local airport. He was a member of the Canadian Legion and Knights of Columbus. Volunteered with Air Cadets, Boy Scouts, Canadian Cancer Society and the Kiwanis Music Festival and enjoyed his time with these activities. GRAY, Maisie
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Saturday, December 3, 2016 Maisie Edith Gray age 69 years of Lumsden. Predeceased by her parents Lucy and Cecil Stagg; brothers Boyce and Hubert; nephew Rodney Stagg. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband David; sons Craig(Donna) of Lumsden and Chad(Nancy) of Lumsden; grandchildren Abigail, Amber, Katie and Ian; sisters Kathleen Welcher(Eric) of Badger's Quay and Irene Stagg(Wally) of Halifax; sister-in-law Sophie Stagg of St. John's; and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. GREENING, David
It is with great sadness that the family of the late David William Greening announce his passing at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Sunday, December 25th, 2016 at the age of 83 years. David leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 60 years Effie (nee- Long); sons: Merlin (Darlene) of Musgravetown, NL; David (wife, Dan Yang) of West Vancouver, BC; daughters: Vera (Alex MacDonald) of Montreal, QC; Susan (Glenn Whiffen) of Paradise, NL; grandson Michael(Paula); granddaughters: Faye Short (Chris); Shirley, Wendy, Libby and great granddaughters: Keyla and Bella Lynn; brother Calvin (Myra) of Musgravetown; sisters: Violet (John Trouern-Trend) of Simsbury, CT; Linda (Mac Power) of Upper Gullies, NL; Nettie (Vernon Wiseman) of Shoal Harbour, NL; sister-in-law, Joan Greening of Plate Cove, NL. and special niece, Debbie (Barry Field) of Gander, NL, also a large circle of extended family and friends. David was predeceased by his parents Chesley and Elsie Greening and brother Tobias (Toby). Cremation has taken place. David will be remembered for his love and kind gentle heart by his family and friends and for his great love of the outdoors where taking his fishing gear and heading down to a river or pond was one of his greatest pleasures. HEALY, Mary Patricia
May 12, 1916 - December 8, 2016

Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander, NL on Thursday December 8, 2016 in her 101st year, Mrs. Mary Patricia Healy (nee Myrick) of Gander, NL. She was predeceased by her spouse Nicholas (Frank) Healy; parents Edward & Ellen Myrick; brother Robert; and sisters: Elsie McCarthy & Jean Pearcey. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories 3 generations of devoted & loving nieces and nephews. Family received friends at Stacey's Funeral Home, 60 Roe avenue, Gander on Saturday December 10, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday December 11, 2016 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial took place from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Monday December 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Father William Hearn. Interment followed at All Saints Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Mary's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. In the eyes of her devoted nieces and nephews, Aunt Mary was an ever present loving, caring model of decorum and grace. Always ready with her wisdom, humour and charm, Mary's doors were crossed frequently by her extended family, over the decades and generations. At her 100th birthday celebrations on May 12, 2016 she greeted every well wisher by name and shared a joyful smile and conversation with them all. Mary was a role model of highest virtue and commitment to her family and community. As one of the first librarians in the newly formed community she guided many young minds with her supportive nature and love of books for over twenty years. MULLETT, Ida Daisy Levinia
1943 - 2016

Born in Deer Lake in the Fall of 1943, Ida passed peacefully away on December 7, 2016 at the age of 73 with family by her side. A woman of many strong opinions and a great strength of character, her many health challenges finally got the best of her and she realized that it made no sense to fight on. Her tenacity and determination until Wednesday night serving as inspiration to all who knew her. A true Newfoundland vagabond and world traveler, Ida spent her life sending people on vacations of a lifetime and making dreams come true. She understood that "true wealth" was what was inside of her. Her thoughts, knowledge, feelings and love made her one of the richest people in town. Ida took great pleasure in her many friendships in Gander, in Newfoundland and all over the world. Her kind thoughts, kind gestures and expressions of kindness were fundamental to her character and her motivation to give back was vested in genuine concern for her family and community. Leading by example of giving back more than you take out, she volunteered at the local food bank and with the Salvation Army.
Predeceased by her husband Max (2006) and brother Cyril (1973) (Mary). She is survived by her sons: Doug (Lori), Mark (Marsha); her brother Bernard (Eva); sisters: Myrtle (Ambrose), Ada (Jack), and four grandchildren: Josh, Kyle, Abby and Alex. Family received friends at Stacey's Funeral Home, 60 Roe Ave, Gander on Saturday December 10th, 2016 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A private celebration of her life took place from Stacey's Funeral Home on Sunday. December 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. officiated by Captains Sheldon & Ashley Bungay. Interment followed at all Saints Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the Saunders Family announces the passing of a truly remarkable man, Stanley Frank Donald Saunders of Gander Bay, Newfoundland. Don passed away peacefully on December 26th at the tender age of 95 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander. He was predeceased by his first wife Beatrice (Nee-King), son Ron and grandson Danny. Don leaves to mourn his beloved wife Shirley (Nee-Budgell), sons Harry (Carla), Fred (Debbie), daughters Judy Maisonneuve-Poole-Saunders (Mike) and Dianne Batstone (Derek), step-daughter Florence Pope (Harry) and step-son Kenneth Budgell, grandsons Dino Farrell (Nadine), Jonathan Poole (Kelly), granddaughters Denise Poole (Scott), Angie Parsons, Kim Park (Brad), Jennie Saunders, Charlie Saunders, Barbie Saunders, Jami Garay, step-grandson Morgan Budgell, step-granddaughter Allison Pope and numerous great-grandchildren. Rested at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wing's Point on Thursday, December 29th from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Funeral service took take place on Friday, December 30th at 2:00 P.M. Interment followed at the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Clarks Head. Flowers gratefully accepted. Don was known for his deep love of the Gander Bay River and the Great Outdoors. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by everyone that had the good fortune to have known him.
