HAMLYN, Frederick
Passed away peacefully, with his family by his side at Lakeside Homes, Gander on Thursday, February 11th, 2016, Frederick Cyrus Hamlyn in his 82nd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 56 years, Clementine (nee Newman); two sons: David (Margot), Paul (Heather); grandchildren: Kurt, Jayne, Noah and Madison; brother: Walter (Margaret); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Emily and Cyrus Hamlyn; brothers: George, Howard, Tom, Richard, Albert, Calvin and Bob; sisters: Pearl, Carrie, Lola, Edna and Gladys. The funeral service was held Monday, February 15th at 2:00 p.m. from Fraser Road United Church, with Reverend Kathy Brett officiating followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery. HANN, Mildred
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one, Mrs. Mildred Hann, age 89 yrs of Musgrave Harbour. Mrs. Hann passed away at Dr. Y. K. Jeon Brookfield Health Centre on Monday, February 1, 2016. Predeceased by her husband Jethro, son Roger, brothers Harvey Mouland, Leslie Mouland, George Chaulk, sisters Mary Pearl Goodyear, Yvonne Mouland, Minnie Drover and Martha Abbott. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her four sons George (Mona), James (Olive), Harry (Kay), Wade (Sharon) all of Musgrave Harbour, five daughters Margaret Tippett (Harry) of C.B.S., Judy Martin (Felix) of Gander, Vonnie Henneberry (Paul) of Dartmouth, N.S., Brenda Porter (Rick) of Falmouth, N.S., Paula Hopkins (Gary) of Musgrave Harbour, daughter-in-law Hayley Abbott of Musgrave Harbour, two brothers Naaman Mouland (Doris) of Mt. Pearl, Carman Mouland (Margaret) of Carmanville, sister-in-law Iona Mouland of Musgrave Harbour, 18 grandchildren Brad, Greg, Blair, Harry, Laurel, Sheldon, Mitchell, Charlene, Niki, John, Paulette, Gavin, Meaghan, Liam, Mandy, Jonathan, Josh, Tyler, 17 great-grandchildren. Also, a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Thursday, February 4th from St. Luke's United Church in Musgrave Harbour with Rev. HOLLOWAY, Les
July 5, 1962- February 17, 2016
Holloway, Leslie (Les)
(formerly of Centreville, Newfoundland). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Les on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the age of 53. He leaves behind his daughters Alexis and Taylor Holloway, their mother Tina, granddaughter Chloe Evans, his mother Madeline, sisters Trudy Collins (Martin-predeceased), Gwen Cutler (Joe), Sheila Stuart (Stephen) and Sue Ann Gorassi (Rob), his special friend Elizabeth Stroud, and his in-laws Roland and Diane Rogers, his brothers-in-law Cory (Joanne) and Darren (Tammy), his many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation was held at the Oshawa Funeral Home on February 23. Funeral Service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, February 24, at 2:30 pm with Rev. Stephanie Douglas Bowman officiating and a large number of family and friends in attendance.
Les was a friendly man with a ready smile, a great sense of humor and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched. Rest in peace Les. You will always be alive in our hearts.

Passed away suddenly on February 15th 2016 Maxwell Scott Hussey age 67 years. Predeceased by father Mackenzie Hussey, step-father Lloyd Renwick, father-in-law Randolph Wellon, Aunt Mona Granter, Uncle Malcolm Hussey, Cousin Barry Granter, Grand-parents Alfreda and Scott Coles and Max and Bessie Hussey. KING, Gladys Beatrice of Victoria Cove

Gladys Beatrice King (nee Oake)
in her 72nd year, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, after a valiant fight with cancer. Predeceased by her dear husband Marshall, grandson Nicholas, brother's Stan, Eddie, Brett and Ross and her parent's Leslie and Frederica Oake. Left with many cherished and loving memories are her children Paula (Allan) Lafleur and Paul (Nic) King; grandchildren Damien, Marshall, Michael and Kaitlyn; sisters Naomi (Jerry) Parsons, Linda (Scott) Gillingham and Irene (Addison) Bown; brother-in-law Gordon King (Ivy) and sister-in-laws Hilda, Evelyn, Gertie and Sue; and her many nieces and nephews. Gladys was an active member of her church parish taking part in various committees but it was her 50 plus years of being an organist to many congregations within the parish that endeared her to so many. She met many wonderful friends over the years and will be sorely missed. Cremation has taken place. McNIVEN, Martina
Passed away peacefully at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on February 16th 2016 Martina (Tina or Tean) McNiven age 89 years. Predeceased by her husband Bill, brothers James, Lou and Frank Samson and sister Josephine White. Left with loving memories are sons Michael (Lee) of Sandringham, NL, Wayne (Joe) of Vancouver, BC., Pat ( Lillian) of Dartmouth, NS., Bill Jr. (Jocelyn) of Mount Pearl, NL daughters Shirley (Aidan) Beresford of Gander, NL, Helen (Roy) Burton of Sandy Cove, NL, brother Michael (April) Samson of Gander, sisters Bride (Jack) Aylward of Kilbride, NL., Ann (Jim) Baggs of Red Deer, AB., Bessie (Tom) Mason of Gander, NL, grandchildren Craig, Dean, Caiti, Diana, Lalena, Bob, Michelle, Sean, Patricia, William, Tyson, Matthew. Great grandchildren Ella, Claire, Chantelle, Dylan, Hayley, Martina, Andrea, Lulu, Wren, Neveah and Faith. Our Mom will forever be remembered for her generosity to others. Whether it be family or friends she made everyone welcome in her home. There was always homemade bread, a pot of soup, or a cooked dinner. Anyone who knew mom knew her love of Bingo, rip-offs and Benson and Hedges. She had the most wonderful sense of humor. She adored her family and would do anything for them. She was also good at puzzles and I bet she did hundreds. She knit, sewed, baked and loved to sit on her patio day dreaming. How will we ever forget all her ways? We never will. PARSONS, Melvin W.
(June 14, 1924 - February 13, 2016)
Dr. Melvin Leon Parsons
died peacefully at the age of 91 years at his home in Glovertown, Newfoundland on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Predeceased by his parents Roland and Mary (Pomeroy) Parsons, his first wife Elizabeth (Betty) Corkum, his son Leon, brother Vernon (Melvie), Irving (Gerri), Austin (Marie), and sister Eileen (Sven Svensson). He is survived by his loving wife Eva, his children Melanie and Gerard (Suzanne Crocker), his grandchildren Elizabeth Leanne, Sam, Kate, Tess, and Seeka (Jesse Terry), his great-grandchildren Tevai and Miali, and brothers and sisters-in law David Parsons, Joan Smeltzer, and June (Arnold) Landers. He leaves behind a large number of family and friends. Melvin lived a long and fulfilling life and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Dr. Parsons was the first full-time, dedicated family physician to serve the people of Glovertown, Traytown, Cull's Harbour, Terra Nova, Charlottetown and St. Brendan's from 1956-1989. He was a life-long contributor to the community, volunteered and served on a number of organizations and always strived to make positive change. He was particularly passionate about education for the youth and served as Chairman of the Terra Nova Regional School Board for many, many years. His dedication, integrity, passion for knowledge, love of nature, the sea and animals remain an inspiration for all who knew him. In celebration of his life, the family received visitors at Oram's Funeral Home in Glovertown from 7:00pm-9:00pm on Monday, February 15, and from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Tuesday, February 16. Cremation to follow. The funeral took place on Wednesday, February 17 at 2:00pm at Faith United Church, Glovertown with internment to follow at Glovertown Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Dr. Melvin Leon Parsons to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Faith United Church, Glovertown or a charity of choice.

age 96 years of Valleyfield passed away very peacefully at Dr. Y. K. Jeon Kittiwake Health Centre, Brookfield on Friday, February 26, 2016. Predeceased by her parents; Caroline and Alexander Stratton, infant son; Alexander, husband; Laurence, three brothers; Llewellyn, Eldon and Charles, as well as a number of well-loved in-laws. She leaves to mourn her son; Laurence Jr. and her four daughters; Lydia, Margaret, Nita and Patricia. Also mourning her loss and remembering her with love, are a circle of in-laws, nieces and nephews. WATERMAN, Eric
Eric Waterman
passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 80 years of age. Eric was born and raised in Boyd's Cove, Notre Dame Bay and moved to Gander with his family at age 14. On June 28, 1954 he married Viola Peckford from Gander Bay and they raised five children: Mona, Diane, Donna, Faye and David. He worked with Allied Aviation in Gander and in 1961 was transferred to Happy Valley-Goose Bay where he worked for the next 11 years. The family returned to Gander where he found employment with The Fortis Group at the Fraser Mall and was employed there for 38 years; he retired at age 75. He was a wonderful father, son, son-in-law, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a great song writer and singer and played in the bands Solitaires and The Northern Lights. Most of the songs he wrote were dedicated to family, his childhood home, and life in Newfoundland and Labrador. He left a legacy of music and CDs that we will cherish forever and we know he is performing in heaven in the loving arms of family and friends who have gone before him. He is predeceased by his wife Viola, daughters Donna and Mona, father Stanley Waterman, mother Minnie Waterman, sisters Vera Thoms and Ivy Freake. Left to mourn are his son David, daughters Diane and Faye, sisters Ruby Collins and Ina Coffin, the Peckford family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. A huge thank you to everyone for their kind words of sympathy via telephone, messages, cards, and visits. A special thank you to the staff of James Paton Memorial Hospital who were so caring and available to us in our time of need, to Harry Martin, Rev. John Watton, Stacey's Funeral Home and the Nightingale Manor staff and residents for all your prayers, comfort and kind words during this sad time. You were all a blessing to our families and we appreciate each and every one of you.
