ARBOUR (nee THISTLE), Verna Kay Marie
Our family is sad to announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt. Kay passed peacefully away on Tuesday, June 5, 2014, at Chancellor Park at the age of 73 years. Predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Hilda Thistle, of Glenwood, NL and her husband, Paul Arbour, of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Left to mourn three sisters: Shirley (Ed) Jenkins, Mount Pearl, NL; Joyce (John) Downing, Clarenville, NL; Diane (Bernard) Keating, Corner Brook, NL. Three brothers: Billie (Lucie) Thistle, Ottawa, ON; Wallace (JoAnne) Thistle, Sudbury, ON; Gordon (Barb) Thistle, Keswick, ON. Nieces and nephews: Rob, Lisa, David, Pamela, Karen, Doug, Jill, Jan, Pat, Bruce, Mary Ann and Greg. Sister-in- law, Joan Fazi; brother-in law, Brian (Ann) Arbour; and life-long friend, Ruth Brown, of Glenwood. Also left to mourn are other relatives and friends as well as colleagues from Manitou Park School in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Glenwood on Saturday, June 8 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral was at St. Andrew's Anglican Church on Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Chancellor Park for their kindness and compassion shown to Kay. CLEVETT, Denise
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, Denise (King) Clevett R.N. age 50 years formerly of Wesleyville. Predeceased by her grandparents Mildred King, Madeline Foley and Alphonsus Foley; uncle Albert Kenney. Left with fond and loving memories are her parents Horace Jr. and Bernadette King of Wesleyville; brother Darrin King of Hamilton, ON., several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended relatives and friends. A Service of Remembrance took place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Thursday, June 19, 2014 with Father Tom Duffenais officiating. Inurnment followed at the Jubilee United Church Cemetery, Wesleyville. As an expression of sympathy donations in Denise's memory may be made to The Kidney Foundation. COLLINS, Royburn
After a brief illness Royburn (Roy) William Collins of Carmanville, aged 83, passed away peacefully at Brookfield/Bonnews Health Centre. Roy was predeceased by his parents Anslum and Janet Collins. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Audrey (nee Collins), sons Ross (Mary) and Garry, daughter Jean (Barry) LeDrew; grandchildren Philip, Christopher, Janet, Keith, Katharine, Daniel, Paul, Jonathan, and Jarrod; great grandchildren Sophie, Sarah, Jacob, Sean, Allie, Drew, Megan, and Emma, and a large network of family and friends around the province and country. A raconteur, Roy was well known in the area. His jokes, stories, his sense of humor, and his unforgettable personality will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home in Carmanville. Funeral service was held at Emmanuel United Church in Carmanville on Saturday, June 14 at 2:00 P.M. Interment Carmanville United Cemetery. The family of the late Joyce Denty would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who demonstrated their care by providing food, donations, cards, presence and phone calls, Your thoughts, prayers and support are so appreciated during this challenging life event and time of grief. Joyce was known for her deep love of family and especially for her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humour, a wonderful cook and loved the outdoors. Joyce passed away June 2nd, 2014 and is sadly missed by her six children, fourteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She leaves one sister Clara (Kevin) Donahue of Gander, and one brother Lorne (Verna) Moss of Eastport and a large circle of family and friends. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Denty, sisters Florella Calder and Jean Stroud; brothers Joe Moss and Don; and grand-children Kimberley Bradley Denty and Christopher Glover. The family would like to say a special thank-you to the staff, nurses,and Drs. of the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Center for making her stay comfortable and as personable as possible. To her dedicated care-givers, you enriched her life over the past several years, Thank You! All donations received will be sent to the United Church Cemetary Fund.

Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander, on Saturday, June 28th, 2014, Hedley Gill, age 85. Predeceased by his parents Eric and Martha Gill, wife Daisie, brother Lester and sister Dorcas White. Josephine Kean (nee Stratton)
at the age of 88 passed peacefully & quietly in the arms of her son Bob on Tuesday evening, June 10th, 2014 at Bonnews Lodge. Josie was a beloved wife to George Kean who was taken tragically within their first year, then remarried Lester Kean whom she showed incredible devotion to for sixty five years, staying by his side until his death. Josephine is also predeceased by her parents Violet & Elotus Stratton, step-mother Amelia; brothers Roland & Frederick & sister Elizabeth. Left to cherish her memory are sons; George (Gail), Kevin (Jan), William (Trixie), Robert (Cassie), Tony (Sheila), Glenn (Jackie), daughters; Marie (Cyril) Parsons, Nellie King, Roselyn (Wayne) Parsons, Judy (Everett) Blackwood, Fern (Garry) Penney, Pamela Allen (Randy), Peggie (Derek) Brace; 36 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great-grandchild. Josephine will be missed by in-laws; Abram (Mable) Kean, Victor (Hazel) Kean, Anne (Raymond) White, Myra (Stratton) Hounsell and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and especially the staff & residents at Bonnews Lodge. GINGELL, Ruth
Passed away June 11 at Lakeside Homes; Gander NL. Ruth Mills (Gingell) (Cobb) Age 87. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Austin Mills, son Richard and second husband Jack Gingell; Father and Mother Ted and Effie Cobb and brother Roger. She is survived by her sons Dennis (Debbie); Ron (Ruth), grandchildren Beverley (Hugo), Kenny (Sherry) and Rebecca, great grandchildren Jasmine and Brandon.and her sister Joan Irish.
Mom was a witness to history as she grew up helping her mother Effie Cobb run The Transatlantic Inn in Botwood. The inn with 26 rooms catered to passengers on transatlantic flights who had to stop over at Botwood before crossing the ocean. Mom would play guitar and piano to entertain the guests during their meal. Some of those who visited were Douglas Fairbanks, Merle Oberon, Bob Hope, Gracie Fields, Edward G. Robinson, Prince John of the Netherlands, Sir Anthony Eden, Lord Mountbatten, and Winston Churchill. As well Mom worked at B.O.A.C for one summer checking in passengers. Many of the guests would write postcards to family and friends back home and request that Mom or her sister Joan post them after they left.
She will be missed.
A special thank you to the staff at Lakeside Homes who took care of her in the last few weeks and to those at Nightengale Manor where she lived for several years. Rested at Staceys Funeral Home, Roe Avenue. A Private family service was held at Staceys at 3:00 pm June 13th.Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetary. Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Hospital on Sunday, June 1, 2014 Elvina Mae Goodyear (nee Gibbons) age 63 years of Lumsden. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander on Thursday, April 24th, 2014, Trixie Stoyles, age 88 of Gander. Predeceased by her parents James and Hughina Calder of Scotland, five siblings, and son Max. Left to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Lester, daughters Glennis, Wendy Ross (Wayne), son Scott, dear grandsons, Cameron and Keegan, sisters-in-law Leonie Hollett, Marguerite Reynolds, Ruth Foshee (Charles), brother-in-law Ray Stoyles (Lillian), several nieces and nephews and special life long friend Betty LeFresne. A special thank you to Dr. Casey, Dr. Cora, Dr. Greenland, and all the other doctors, nurses and paramedics at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, who took such good care of her during her illness.
