Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Center on March 1, 2011, Madeline Bishop, age 81 years. Predeceased by husband, Charlie, son-in-law, Des Milley. Left with loving memories are son, Norman (Andine), daughters, Rosalind (Thomas) Stack of Gander, Dianne Milley of Gander; grandchildren, Tony Stack (Dana), Heather Hefford (Brad), Aaron Milley (Kathryn), Charlie Bishop; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Lewis Hefford. Also a large circle of cherished friends at Lakeside Homes in Gander. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Passed away at his residence in Wesleyville on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, Mr. Cyril Hicks, formerly of Musgrave Harbour, in his 73rd year. Predeceased by his parents, Geneva and Levi Hicks, and granddaughters, Krista and Karen Hart, 2002. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Marie Stokes, four daughters, Penny Burton (Gord) of Massey Drive, Nadine Hunt (Winston) of Goulds, Susan Winters (Barry) of Montgue, P.E.I., Jennifer Hart (Nelson) of Gander, step-son, Percey Stokes of Wesleyville, and stepdaughter, Melinda Stokes of Edmonton, AB, 11 grandchildren, Jason Burton (Tonya), Perry Burton (Sarah), Shawn Burton, Olive, Tracey, BJ, Hannah Winters, Kayla Lundrigan, Elizabeth and Stephen Hunt and Bradley Stokes, one great-grandson, Ethan Stokes and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on Saturday, March 5th, from the Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour with Majors Barry and Donna Anstey officiating. Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Center on March 1, 2011, Agnes Kathleen Maloney, age 80 years. Predeceased by parents, Bernard and Bridget Keough, brothers, Patrick, Douglas, Joseph and Richard, sister, Mary Philpott. Passed peacefully away at The James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, Edgar White, age 96. Predeceased by his wife Josephine, daughters, Madeline, Genevieve, brother, Ambrose, sisters, Monica, Rosie, Elizabeth. Left to mourn with loving memories are his sons, Edgar (Leone) of Foxtrap, David (Norma) of Leading Tickles, Glenn (Tina) of Mt. Pearl, daughters, Agnes (Joseph) Breen of Gander, Theresa (Euart) Tibbo of Gander, Rose (William) Ward of Leading Tickles, Pauline of Ft. HOUSE, Edward Lawrence -
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, age 62. Author of lyrics, poetry and prose, he was the youngest son of the late Annie and Gladstone House of Glovertown and St. John's, dear brother of Ruby, Hope, Blanche, Cator and their spouses, beloved uncle of five nephew and four nieces. A memorial service was held at Oram's Funeral Home, Glovertown, on Monday March 7th. In keeping with Ed's wishes, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow at a later date. Memorial donations to Parkinson's Society, the Canadian Mental Health Association or the charity of your choice. Special thanks to his many caregivers at home and to the many caring staff members and friends at James Paton Memorial Hospital.

SHAW Janet Marion [nee Byers] -
25th, June, 1938 - 3rd March, 2011
Passed peacefully away after a courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer, Janet Marion Shaw, aged 72. Predeceased by parents Russell and Ardie Byers, Sister Joan and Brother James. Mourning her loss are her husband Dave of 52 years, sons Patrick and Malcolm and daughter Teresa Dominie [Andrew], and her pride and joy, grandchildren Sarah and Jeremy of Pasadena, NL. Brothers Russell [Alice] and Paul and sister Jean, nieces and nephews [with whom she shared many adventures] and a large number of other relatives and friends. A former member of the RCAF, Scouts Canada [31 years], Glenwood Town Council [Mayor and Councillor], CWL., U.S. Navy Wives Club and many other community and charitable organizations and, until recently, an active member of the Glenwood/Appleton Women's Institute. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Funeral Service was held Monday March 7th at 11:00 A.M. from St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Glenwood. Interment at a later date. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother at Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage on March 6, 2011. Born in Colliers, NF on May 17th, 1921 to Martin & Rachael (Walsh) Murphy, she was truly the heart of our loving family. Her terrific sense of humour coupled with a great love of all that is Irish - we will miss her sweet smile & sparkling Irish eyes. Her deep faith, strength and devotion as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & mother-in-law was an inspiration to her family; Betty Stack, Anita (Ellery) Oicle, Shirley (Bill) Saunders, Ed (Trudy) Kenny, Matt (Gerry) Kenny, Marian Kenny, Joanne (Larry) Ghaney, Sandy (Dave) Giannou; grandchildren, Michael, Chris (Lori), Jill (Ray), Ronnie, Teddy, Shannon, Nicholas (Laine), Jessica, Gina (Graham), Jason(Angela), Lauren & Jennifer; great-Grandchildren, Liam, Reid. Predeceased by her husband, Edward (Ted) and son-in-law, Robert Stack. Her beautiful spirit touched many as she journeyed through her almost 90 years of life. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Claire Nowlan, the staff, volunteers and friends at Ocean View Manor for the exceptional care and love, especially in her last hours. TRAINOR, Margaret (Peg) (nee Alyward)
1933-2011 -

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret (Peg) Doreen Trainor announce her passing at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex in St. John's on the March 8, 2011 at the age of 77 while surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael and leaves many fond and loving memories for her children, Deborah (Garrie), Michael Audrey), William (Dianne), Bridget (Don), Wayne (Lynn), Loretta and Stephen (Rhonda). Also left to mourn are 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and brothers, Patrick Alyward (Theresa) and James Alyward (Phyllis). Rested at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road and Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on. Funeral took place 1:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2011 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander with interment at the Gander Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.

GIBBONS, Nita Mildred (nee Vincent) -
Passed peacefully away at Agnes Pratt Home in the presence of her family at about 1:30 a.m., March 15, 2011, age 91 years 6 months, of Lumsden, Newfoundland; born September 15, 1919 at Cape Island, Newfoundland to Ezra and Elsie (Stratton) Vincent. Predeceased by her, Clayton Gibbons in 1999 and brothers, Hubert, Calvin, Earl, and Charles. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her four sons and three daughters and their families: Rex (Marge Stagg); Glenys (Nelson Harris); Calvin (Barbara Hutchings); Randy (Trixie Churchill); Boyd (Elaine Ivany); Cheryl (Don Sturge); and Lucy (Art Norris); plus 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also, brothers Alfred and Frank, and sisters Millie Wheaton and Barbara Carter (Don); also, sisters-in-law, Annie Vincent and Mabel Goodyear, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation was held at Caul's Funeral Home, St. John's, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, after which Nita will be taken to Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove, where visitation was held on Wednesday evening and Thursday, March 16 and 17. Her funeral service was held from Wesley United Church in Lumsden, Newfoundland, at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011, followed by interment at the United Church Cemetery at Lumsden. No Flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or to the Lumsden United Church Cemetery Fund or. Passed peacefully away on March 17, 2011 at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander in the presence of his loving family, William Francis O'Rielly in his 87th year. Predeceased by brothers Thomas, John, Gregory, Leo, sisters Bridget, Margaret, Katherine, Helen. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are his wife Mary (nee-Byrne), son Bill, daughters Annette, Maureen all of Gander, sisters-in-law Rita O'Rielly of St. John's, Rose (Nick) Furlong of St. John's, Anne Walsh of St. Brendan's, Marguerite Byrne of Glovertown as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Funeral Mass was held take Monday, March 21st at 11:00 A.M. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. BERTRAND, Hazel -
Peacefully at home on March 21, 2011, Hazel Emeline (nee Hall) in her 91st year. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Bertrand. Many knew Hazel and Ray as the proprietors of Tee-Bo Camp on Hwy 11 North. Cherished mother of Viva Harrison (husband Ernie) of Callander, and of Dianne St.Croix (husband late Hugh) of Portugal Cove South, NL. She was predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Emily Hall of Newtown, Newfoundland. Dear grandmother of Richard Beilhartz (wife Karen) of Fergus, ON, Michelle Eagles (husband Brent) of St. John's, NL, Leigh St.Croix of Portugal Cove South, NL and Christian St.Croix (wife Sophie) of Halifax, NS; and great-grandchildren Emily & Jacob Eagles, and Alexandra, Natalie & Cameron Beilhartz. Dearly loved sister of Catherine Kluck of Wisconsin and Peter Hall (wife Esther) of Newtown, NL. Remembered by her sisters-in-law, Sophie and Lorraine , many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her siblings Jesse, Lillian, Howard, and Walter. A service in the Martyn Funeral Home for family and friends will be held on Friday April 1 at 2 pm. Passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family at Brookfield Hospital, Ralph Deward King, age 77 years of Pool's Island. Predeceased by parents, Frederick and Clara Dyke, sister; Elsie Parsons, brothers; Fred Jr. And Eric, and mother and father-in-law, James and Caroline Burry. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife; Pearl, sons; Perry (Lynn), Sheldon (Valarie) and Derrick (Cindy) all of Greenspond and Paul (Denise) of Fort St. John, B.C., brother; Donald (Mae) of Greenspond and grandchildren; Corey, Tyler, Mark, Danielle, Jazlynn, Alexa and Kyle, sisters-in-law; Audrey Etsell (Charles), Bessie Froude, Shirley Dyke and Maureen Burry, brothers-in-law; Reginald Burry (Maggie) and Lloyd Burry (Margaret) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. FORWARD, Beverly Ann -
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on Saturday, March 26, 2011, Beverly Ann Forward of Gambo, NL (formerly of Grand Falls-Windsor) after a short battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Marion (Lane) Forward. Left to mourn, sisters Mary (Roy) Jeans of Bishop's Falls, Susan (David) Skinner of Hammonds Plains, NS, Judy of Vancouver, nephew Ryan Jeans, (Toronto), nieces Amy Jeans (Grand Falls-Windsor) and Rebecca (Darrel) Noseworthy (Fort Saskatchewan, AB) Lavinia Burden (Aunt Sis) (Grand Falls-Windsor), and her cat 'Rascal". Also a huge circle of family and friends, to whom she was known as the "Story Lady". Many thanks to the staff of HSC, the Oncology Department and for the out pouring of support from her friends. A special thanks to our sister, Mary, for the months of dedicated care and support she provided Beverly. Beverly touched the lives of many children during her teaching career, most of which she spent in the Hare Bay-Dover area. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held at St. George's Anglican Church in Gambo on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 followed by an internment at The Anglican Cemetery in Grand Falls-Windsor.
She will be missed by all including her cat, Rascal.

Passed peacefully away at Brookfield Bonnews Lodge on Monday, March 28, 2011. Edith Louise Wheeler, age 84 years of Greenspond, NL, Predeceased by her husband, Randolph Wheeler; parents Edgar and Frances Hoddinott; granddaughters, Marsha and Laura Wheeler and son-n-law Hughie Bath.
