HOYLES, Baxter -
Passed peacefully away on November 4, 2003 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, Baxter Hoyles of Pound Cove, age 89 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Leah Hoyles; brothers, Joseph and Fred; sister, Jane; sons-in-law, Allan Hounsell and Calvin Blagdon; and great-great-grandson, Nicholas. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Margaret; five sons, Ken (Peggy) of Brookfield, John (Sadie) of Mount Pearl, Eric (Doreen) of Newtown, Scott of Badger's Quay, Grant (Darlene) of Newtown; four daughters, Jane Blagdon of Mount Pearl, Marina Kean (Russell) of Pound Cove, Irene Hounsell of Pound Cove, Marilyn Johnson (Tom) of St. John's; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Rose Hoyles of Carbonear; nephew, Stanley Cooze of Brookfield and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on November 7th from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Pound Cove with Rev. V. Reid officiating. Interment followed from the Anglican Church Cemetery, Pound Cove. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Mary's Anglican Church, Pound Cove. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

WINTER, Gaston -
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing on November 5, 2003 of Gaston Winter of Gander in his 73rd year. Predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Eliza Winter. Left to mourn his wife, Ida; son, Carl (Debbie), daughter, Cath (Gary) Marsden, grandchildren, Kristen and Joshua Winter; two sisters, Pheobe Best and Helen (Chester) Stone; nine nieces, five nephews; and many friends. Funeral service was held on November 8th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation. HICKS, Lura -
Passed away at Brookfield Hospital, on November 6, 2003, Mrs. Lura Hicks (Louie) of Musgrave Harbour in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her husband, Harold and two brothers, Harold Cuff and Roland Cuff. Left with fond and loving memories are her son, Maxwell (Beulah) of Musgrave Harbour; two brothers, Jim Cuff (Joy) of Musgrave Harbour and Don Cuff (Ida) of Scarborough, Ontario, three sisters, Mamie Abbott, Elsie Mouland and Jean Hicks (Cecil), all of Musgrave Harbour; four grandchildren, Shirley (Boyd), Tammy (Dave), Crystal and Wade (Cherylann); six great-grandchildren, Kayla, D.J., Stephanie, Kristy, Scotty and Robbie; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place on November 8th from the Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour. Interment at Salvation Army Cemetery in Musgrave Harbour. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbour, Wesleyville.

VARDY, Gertrude -
Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on November 11, 2003, Gertrude Vardy, age 86 years. Predeceased by husband, Wilfred Vardy (1994) and parents, Joshua and Mary Martin. Left with loving memories are daughter, Joy and husband, Maxwell Feltham of Gander; granddaughter, Mary Feltham; also a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on November 14th at the Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the Fraser Road United Church. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home Limited, Gander.

WAY, Millicent (nee Collins) age 81 years -
Mom passed peacefully and gently away on November 12, 2003 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, in the loving presence of her daughter, Catherine. She is predeceased by her father and mother (Samuel and Jane Collins), husband, Lewis; daughter, Jean; brother, George; and sister, Myrtle. Left to cherish her memory and her beautiful smile, her three children, Catherine (Austin), Boyd (Celie) and Glenn (Christine); grandchildren, Glenn, Danny, Candice, Stephen, Tammy and Dana; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Tyler, Melanie, Marilyn and Andrew: brothers, Wilfred (Minnie), Martin (Eva), Kitchener (Olive), Stewart (Josephine); sisters, Muriel and Nellie; brother-in-law, Harold (Marjorie); sister-in-law, Mildred; also a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Rested at Oram's Funeral Home, Dover. Funeral took place on November 15th at the Salvation Army Citadel, Hare Bay. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Hare Bay. FORAN, James Arthur -
Passed peacefully away on November 13, 2003 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, James Arthur Foran, age 57 years. Predeceased by his father, James C. Foran. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Mabel (nee Currie); sons, James of Halifax, NS, and Matthew of Calgary, AB; mother, Bernice of Goulds, NL; brother, Edward (Helen) of St. John's, NL; sisters, Catherine of Staten Island, NY, Connie (Marty) of Dayton, OH and Bernice (Wilf) of Goulds, NL; also a large number of friends and relatives. Funeral service was held on November 17th at St. Joseph's Church Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Interment followed at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. CASHIN, John (Jack) -
Passed peacefully away on November 18, 2003 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, John (Jack) Cashin, age 84 years. Left to mourn are sisters, Rita Thomkin, Francis Shea and Mildred Cochrane and sister-in-law, Theresa Cashin. He will also be remembered by a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on November 20th at the Roman Catholic Church, Gambo. Interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to Pritchett's Funeral Home.

MERCER, Phyllis -
Passed away on November 22, 2003 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Mrs. Phyllis Mercer of Musgrave Harbour in her 78th year. Predeceased by her husband, Herman, parents, Amelia and John Abbott and brother, Fred. Left with fond and loving memories are her two sons, Randy (Shirley) of Musgrave Harbour and Brad (Lori Ann) of Edmonton, AB; two sisters, Marie Abbott (Dolph) of Gander and June Watton (Roy) of Gander; four grandchildren, David, Todd, Hunter and Declan; a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on November 25th at Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbour. Interment at United Church Cemetery in Musgrave Harbour. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to the Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home in Musgrave Harbour-Wesleyville.

FRY, Uriah -
Passed peacefully away on November 23, 2003 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Uriah Fry. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Vera; daughter, Marilyn (Stephen Vallis) of Petawawa, ON; grandchildren, Joshua of Gander, Aaron, Ariel, Evan and Spencer of Petawawa, ON; sisters, Muriel Humby of Summerville, NL and Jessie Humby of Summerville, NL; also a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on November 26th at Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Interment followed at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in Mr. Fry's memory can be made to Christian Children's Fund or World Vision. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

CRITCH, William -
Passed away suddenly on November 29, 2003 at Brookfield Hospital, William Critch of Badger's Quay, age 65. Predeceased by parents, William and Rebecca Critch; sister, Mildred (Critch) Tulk; and brother, Mark Critch. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife, May (Skiffington) Critch; son, Sheldon Critch of Brampton, Ontario; stepson, William Skiffington (Marilyn) of Pound Cove; daughters, Joan (Dirk Spill) of Ajax, Ontario, Brenda Farrer of Pickering, Ontario, Vanessa Critch of Brampton, Ontario; step-daughters, Joann Attwood (Dwight) of Badger's Quay, Geraldine Andrews (Gordon) of Wesleyville, and Margaret King (Mike) of Badger's Quay; brother, Doug (Jean) of Bishop's Falls, sister, Gwenth (Lewis Parsons) of Deer Lake; grandchildren, Sarah and Angel Farrer, Patti-ann, Gregory and Jessica Andrews, Sheena and Michael Skiffington, Christopher and MacKenzie King, and Madison and Amber Attwood; and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on December 2nd from the United Church, Wesleyville, with Captain Rideout officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Wesleyville. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

PICKETT, Silas -
Passed away suddenly on November 29, 2003 at Trinity, Bonavista Bay, Silas Pickett of Centreville, age 68 years. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mildred Pickett. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Emily; one son, Boyde (Judy) of Keswick, ON; four daughters, Maxine (Larry Rogers) of Fort McMurray, AB, Claudette (Barry Kean) of Wareham, Valerie (Tony Glover) of Hare Bay, Janine (Jody Hunt) of Scarborough, ON; five sisters, Rebecca (Ronald Hewitt) of Centreville, Mildred (Rick Shewchuck) of Lethbridge, AB, Priscilla (Gary Taylor) of Trenton, ON; Rowena Sylvester of Saskatoon, Bonnie Matthews of Trenton, ON; seven brothers, Malcolm (Lillian) of Centreville, Lemuel of Wareham, Gerald (Mae) of Iqaluit, Nanuvit, Jonas (Olive) of Arnprior, ON, Robert John (Adelaide) of Carmanville, Stanley (Iris) of St. John's, Seymour (Peggy) of Topsail; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, Cheryl, Erica, Jonathan, Andrew, Angeline, Stephen, Shannon; and a large circle of other relatives and many, many friends. Funeral service was held on December 3rd at St. Barnabas' Anglican Church, Centreville with Rev. Rose officiating. Interment followed from the Anglican Church Cemetery, Centreville. BEATON, Marion Elizabeth -
Passed peacefully away in Gander on November 30, 2003 in the presence of her loving family, Marion Elizabeth Beaton, formerly of Norris Arm North, age 82 years. Predeceased by her husband, Bert. Left with fond and loving memories are son, Jim (Bernice) of Norris Arm North, NL; daughters, Marvella (Claude Hayter) of Norris Arm South, NL, Maisie (Otto Harding) of Stephenville, NL, Millicent (Guy Winsor) of Gander, NL, Evelyn (Roland Forward) of Gander, and Christine (Martin Maltais) of Ottawa, ON; sister, Maude (Jim Anstey) of Nova Scotia; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hooper of Gander, Sylvia Menchenton of Grand Falls-Windsor; also a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on December 3rd at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Norris arm North. Interment followed at St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery, Norris Arm North.
