ABBOTT, Norman
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one at Bonnews Lodge, Badger’s Quay on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 Norman Gordon Abbott age 88 years of Musgrave Harbour. Predeceased by his parents Hebert and Violet Abbott; wife Marguerite; and daughter Beatrice. Left with fond and loving memories are his daughters Verna (Ray Melanson) of Gagetown, NB. and Marlene (Thomas) of Gagetown, NB.; grandchildren Jeffrey and Steven; great-grandchildren Jordan, Sydney and Ashlyn; brothers Cyril Abbott (Patsy) of Musgrave Harbour and Raymond Abbott (Betty) of St. John’s; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at The Salvation Army Citadel, Musgrave Harbour on Friday, November 28, 2104 with Major Betty-Lou Topping officiating. BLACKWOOD, George
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center, St John's, NL on November 16, 2014 George William Blackwood of Brookfield, in his 93rd year. Predeceased by parents Captain Peter and Maggie Blackwood, sisters: Julia Andrews, Marie Mullett, and Stella Howell. Leaving to mourn wife Olive, daughter Jean (Frank Whiteway), Mount Pearl, grandson Glenn (Lyanne), Fredricton, NB, granddaughter JoAnne, Chicago, IL; four precious great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Sarah, Andrew, and Ryan; brother Cyril Blackwood, Brookfield, sisters: Irene Gibbons, Badger's Quay, Pearl (Albert Kean), Pound Cove, Evelyn Winters, Calgary, AB, Marjorie Kells, Burlington, ON. Also leaving to mourn, sisters-in-law: Phyllis (Alec Janes) Mount Pearl, Carrie Hounsell, Mount Pearl, and brother-in-law Bill Howell Templeman as well as many nieces and nephews and a circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on November 19, 2014 at the Ebenezer United Church, Brookfield with Rev. Brian Hannon officiating assisted by Rev. George Kean. BRODERICK, Ron
Passed away peacefully at the James Paton Memorial Health Center, Gander on Friday, November 21st, 2014, Ronald Broderick of Glenwood, age 89. Ronald was born on St. Brendan's island in 1925 to Bridget (Ryan) and Nicholas Broderick, the 4th of 6 sons. Ronald is predeceased by his parents and 5 brothers, Nicholas, William, Gregory, Michael and Gus. Nephews Michael jr. and Brian Broderick and Niece Marlene Broderick. Ronald married his soul mate and best friend Mary in 1952, from there caring on his parents tradition and had 6 children of his own. Ron (Jr), Den (Bernice), Greg (Denise), Blanche (John), Cliff and Sandra (Calvin). He very much enjoyed all the visits from his children and 17 grandchildren. Corey, Sheldon, Blair, Rhonda, Dennis, Adam, Chris, Vanessa, Ryan, Stephen, Victoria, Margaret, Luke, Chantel, Grace, Patrick and Matthew and 16 great grandchildren. Rested at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Glenwood. Funeral Mass, Monday, November 24th at 11:00 A.M. Interment followed at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood. Donations in Ron's memory may be made to St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church.
Ronald worked on the Labrador for many a years as site supervisor. In 1980 he started working for NL housing where he retired in 1990. He very much enjoyed the outdoors whether it be hunting or just a Sunday drive up over Bowaters Road with Mary to see who or what was on the go. Ronald will be sadly missed, but never forgotten by a large circle of family and many friends.

Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on Friday, November 7, 2014 Violet May Brown age 84 years of Centreville. Predeceased by her parents Annie and Eldon Pickett; husband Roland; sisters Bernice, Clara Anne, Ariana, Margaret, Kathleen and Audrey; brothers Percy, Ephraim and James; son-in-law Lloyd Butt. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons Roland (Linda) of Centreville and Victor of Scarborough, ON.; daughters Edna Lomertin (Walter) of Orland, ON., Bernice Pollett (Joseph) of Centreville and Delilah Butt (Iain) of Bowmanville, ON.; brothers Matthias (Eliza Jane) of Centreville, Lindsay (Linda) of Centreville and David (Eileen) of Centreville; grandchildren Jenny, Valerie, Kevin, Paul, Janice, Dion, Nichole, Lloyd and Angela; 12 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of William Sidney Bursey in his 75th year on Thursday, November 20th, 2014. Predeceased by his parents John and Maude Bursey (Nee-Dennis), sister Annie and husband Allan Kennedy, brother John Bursey and infant brothers Clifford and Bramwell. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Daphne (nee Freake) of 53 years, son David (Lorna), Edward, daughter Connie (Anthony), son Darin (Linda), and Boyd (Allison), 9 grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler, Sarah, Russell, Alexandra, Jenny, Samantha, Blair and Sydney, great grandchildren Rachel and Thaddeus, sister Bernetta (Ed Szuch), sister-in-law Ann Bursey, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friend Wayne Barton. GOULDING, Susanna
In her 98th year, Susanna Goulding passed away peacefully at Lakeside Home in Gander, NL, on November 15, 2014. Born in Fair Island, NL, to Moses and Anne Pickett. Susie met and married David Goulding and enjoyed 50 years of living in Gambo together. Susie is predeceased by her husband David, April 21, 1989; by her three sons: Lorne, Joseph and David; grandson Darrell Oram; granddaughters: Lisa Power and Stephanie Goulding. Susie is survived by her eight children: Lionel (Shirley), Mary (Earl), Margaret (Bill), Marie (James), Florence (Rocky), John (Donna), Noah (Gladys) and Devon (Cathy); two daughters-in-law: Eva (Joseph) and Frances (David); 27 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Susie had a profound commitment to God and her church, The Salvation Army. With little formal education, she gave herself to faithful service to the Gambo Corps through Sunday School, Home League and wherever she was able to assist. Three times she was a recipient of The Order of The Silver Star in recognition of her three Salvation Army officer sons, Joseph, David and John. The Service of Celebration will take place at The Salvation Army Gambo Corps on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.

GOVER, Robert Fowlow
(1924-2014)

On Nov. 5, 2014 surrounded by family Bob passed peacefully away at home, as was his wish. Bob is survived by loved ones, wife Kathleen, daughter Sharonlee (Brian) Card, son Shawn (Anjenett). Grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life, Brooks (Ashley) Card, Brent Card and Jayden Gover. Bob looked forward to and had the joy of meeting his Great Grandson, Brinnigan Robert Card, born on Oct. 2, 2014. Bob lived and worked in Gander, NL, a town he was proud to call home, for 72 years. He was a quiet, gentle man who enjoyed life, family and had many friends. In later years, Bob enjoyed being close to family and spent many hours with his loyal companions Odin, Stella & Jake. Sharon & Shawn and families would like to express their special thanks and gratitude to Mom who provided exceptional care to Dad is these past months allowing him to remain at home, as was his greatest wish. Cremation has taken place & arrangements entrusted to Cole Harbour Funeral Home. A private gathering of family & friends will take place at a later date. HANCOCK, Glen
Passed away at home in Bowmanville on November 16, 2014 with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Herman & Gertrude Hancock. Loving husband of Tracy. Devoted father of Jasmine, Nicholas, Sarah and Alex. Brother of Perry and his wife Monique. Uncle of Lily and Mae. Glenn will also be missed by many friends and family. Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Home, Gander on Thursday November 27th, 2014; Pearl Blanche Osmond (nee Sturge) of Gambo, aged 89 years. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Delilah Sturge; husband Vincent Osmond and sister Viola Peddle. The following are left with precious memories: her 2 children, Wayne Osmond (Dolf Seymour), Bay Roberts and Kimberly Faulkner (Raymond Faulkner), Gander; 4 grandchildren Sarah Pritchett, Benjamin Pritchett, Monica Pritchett and Emily Ann Pritchett, along with their father Kevin A. Pritchett; siblings Joan Holloway (Hedley), Gander; Cecil Sturge (Joyce), Ottawa; Doreen Hynes (Chris Hawkins), Torbay; sister-in-laws Phyllis Pritchett, Gambo and Irene Osmond, Gander; as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Passed peacefully away in presence of family Nov 2, 2014. Born in Herring Neck to Raymond and Beatrice Smart October 23, 1935. Oldest of 10 children. Predeceased by brothers Winston and Earl, granddaughter Ashely Tuff, her parents, and her husband, Eric Tuff. Left to mourn, her children Gary (Carmel), Colleen (Keith Wyatt), and Jim (Betty Ann); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Roland (Julia), Shirley (Fred Saunders), Marina (Fred Brown), Haida (Lou Grimes), Carl (Carmen), Eric, and Harold; sisters-in-law, Pearl Hounsell, Emma Parsons and Agnes (Ross Feltham). Funeral arrangements by Oram's Funeral Home, Glovertown. Visitation 2:00pm-4:00pm, and 7:00pm-9:00pm, Tuesday, November 4, 2014. WHEATON, Alberta Maude
(August 10, 1926 - November 13, 2014)

It is with sadness that the families of the late Alberta Maude Wheaton announce her passing at the Lakeside Seniors Home, Gander, NL aged 88 years. Alberta was born on August 10, 1926 to the late Nathaniel and Charity Collins of Carmanville, NL. She lived in Glenwood, NL since 1953. On March 28, 1944, Alberta married Ronald Wheaton and together they had five sons and two daughters. She is predeceased by her husband, Ronald and her daughter, Patsy. She leaves to mourn, sons; Selby, Grenfell (Alfreda), Winston (Betty), Cyril (Linda), Austin (Karen) and daughter; June (John), 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral service was held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2 PM. Interment followed at the Riverside Pentecostal Cemetery, Glenwood, NL. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Gideon's were gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
