SPURRELL, Mildred -
Passed peacefully away on October 1, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mildred Spurrell in her 71st year. Predeceased by husband Albert - 1986. Left with loving memories are sisters Marie Yetman (Allan) of Gander, Mary Mason of Lower Sackville, NS; Helen Abbott (Phil) of Bonavista, Francie Templeman (Will) of Bonavista, Cora Noseworthy (Roy) of Port Union; brothers, Bill Jones (Mary) of Scarborough, ON; Charlie Jones (Audrey) of St. John's; best friend Elizabeth Sparkes of Gander; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on October 3rd at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Interment at St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Catalina. Donations in her memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

STOKES, Peter -
Passed peacefully away on October 4, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, surrounded by family, Peter Stokes of Deadman's Bay, age 81. Predeceased by parents Ephriam and Sarah; brother Herbert; and sisters Liza Faulkner, Carrie Chaulk, Melissa Cuff and Judy. Peter was Corps Sergeant-Major of the Deadman's Bay Corps for 28 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Ethel; sons, Ross (Mary), Terry (Velma) and Donald (Denise), all of Deadman's Bay; daughters, Mildred (Warrick Pye) of Goose Bay, Iona (Leslie Mouland) of Musgrave Harbour, Marilyn Fifield (Rayburn) of Sandringham, Neta (Robert Pinsent) of Musgrave Harbour, Fern (Melvin Goodyear) of Deadman's Bay, Sarah (Sandy Bemister) of Musgrave Harbour and Ada (Terry Mouland) of Musgrave Harbour; brother Cecil (Blanche) of Deadman's Bay; sisters, Daisy Pardy of Musgrave Harbour, Martha (Cyril Chaulk) of Musgravetown and Vera (James Stokes) of Deadman's Bay; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on October 7th at the United Church, Deadman's Bay with Captains Chaulk and Feltham officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Deadman's Bay. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove-Musgrave Harbour.

COLLINS, Dorman -
Passed peacefully away on October 5, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Mr. Dorman Collins of Carmanville in his 83rd year. Predeceased by his parents William and Emma; four brothers, Anslum, Nathan, Frank and Stanley; and five sisters, Maud, Ida, Alberta, Gladys and Lucy. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Ethel; one brother-in-law William Bishop of St. John's and niece Debbie Lynch of St. John's and several other nephews and nieces; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on October 7th at the Salvation Army Church, Carmanville. Interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Carmanville. Donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army Building Fund in Carmanville. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville-Gander.

RALPH, Donald -
Passed away at Gander after a lengthy illness, Donald Ralph, age 62. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Edith Ralph. Left to mourn are his loving wife Ada (Peckford); devoted daughter Lisa (Darris) Thompson; sister Ruth (Bill) Prewitt; brothers, Harry (Lorraine), Dave (Cheryl), Ed (Janet); one uncle; three aunts; many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; special aunt Ethel Jenkins; dear friend and cousin Dorothy (Graham). Funeral service was held on October 8th from St. Martin's Anglican Church, Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander. Peace and comfort in God's heavenly home.

PENNY, Maxwell -
Passed peacefully away on October 8, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Maxwell Penney in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife Beatrice. Left with loving memories are son Hubert (Joy) of Lethbridge, Alberta; daughters, Shirley (Barry), Dartmouth, NS., and Midge (Chris), Louisville, Kentucky; one sister, Eileen Hall, Gander; grandchildren, Paula, Tracy, Debbie, Kelly, Shannon and Robyn; great-grandchildren Nicholas and Kate; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on October 10th at Holy Cross Anglican Church, Eastport. Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Squires Funeral Home, Eastport.

DOWDEN, William Raymond -
Passed peacefully away on October 9, 2002 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, William Raymond Dowden of Greenspond, age 93 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Emily Dowden; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Daisy Dowden. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are one sister Mildred (Benjamin Downer) of Greenspond; four nephews; two nieces; and other relatives and many friends. Funeral service was held on October 12th at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Greenspond with Rev. V. Reid officiating assisted by Father C. Dedde. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Shamblers Cove, Greenspond. Donations in his memory may be made to the St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Greenspond. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.

TUMA, Eulalie -
Passed peacefully away on October 9, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Eulalie Tuma in her 75th year. Predeceased by her husband Reginald (1997) and sisters Eileen and Betty. Left with fond and loving memories are son Dave of Gander and three grandchildren, Nichole, David and Reggie. Funeral mass was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gander. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Parish or the Central Northeast Health Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

POWER, Gladys M. -
Passed peacefully away on October 16, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Gladys M. Power in her 69th year. Predeceased by parents Ernest and Ida Linehan and brother-in-law Tom Nolan. Left with fond and loving memories are husband Robert, Gander; sons, Joseph (Jr.) Linehan (Gloria), St. Catherine's, Desmond (Brenda) Gander, Edward (Dora), Cole Harbour, NS, Keith (Ellen), Hooksett, NH; special brother-in-law Norman Power, Gander; daughters, Karen Puddester (Bruce) Lawrencetown, NS., Kelly Power (Lori Shea), St. John's and Tina Purcell (Danny), Gander; brothers, Joe (Linda), Gerald (Catherine), Ernest (Anne-Marie), Colinet, Albert (Eileen), Paradise, Wayne (Lorna), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; sisters, Marcella, St. John's, Anne Nolan, Mt. Funeral mass was held on October 18th at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Gander. Cremation followed with inurnment at All Saints Cemetery, R.C. Section, on October 19. Donations may be made to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrust to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home Ltd., Gander.

RALPH, Selina May -
Passed away on October 17, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Selina May Ralph, at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by parents, William and Anne Lane; husband, David; brothers, Arthur and Solomon; sisters, Beatrice and Martha; and son-in-law, Samuel Vivian. Left to mourn are daughter, Annie; sons, Calvin (Amy), Rex (Patricia) and foster son, Eldon (Alma); eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harold Ralph; sister-in-law, Anastasia Lane; as well as many relatives and friends. She was an active member of St. Alban's Church, Burnside, and a member of ACW for 61 years. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Paul Thoms and Rev. Harvey Bullen at St. Alban's, followed by internment at the Anglican Cemetery, Burnside. Pallbearers were Anthony Ralph, Fred Ralph, Jason Ralph, Jonathan Ralph, Edgar Courtney and Donald Vivian. Soloist was Barbara Courtney, granddaughter. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Squire's Funeral Home.

STURGE, Hubert -
Passed peacefully away on October 19, 2002 at Brookfield Hospital, Hubert Sturge of Wesleyville, age 80. Predeceased by parents, John and Alfreda Sturge; and brother, Kenneth. Left to mourn with many cherished memories, his loving and devoted wife, Winnifred. Also left to mourn with fond and loving memories are daughters, Lorraine (Paul Miller), Joan (Morgan Stockley), Patsy (Wayne Pickford), all of Mount Pearl and Danette (Ernest Stokes) of Wesleyville; sisters, Janie (Eldon Kean) of Pound Cove and Marie (Fred Stockley) of Mississauga, ON; seven cherished grandchildren, Krista and Stephen Miller, Travis and Justin Pickford, Joshua and Jared Stokes and Janelle Stockley; mother-in-law, Winnie Sturge of Wesleyville; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on October 22nd at the Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville with Capt. Hopkins officiating. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Wesleyville. Passed peacefully away on October 22, 2002 at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Joseph Coles of Aspen Cove, age 93 years. Predeceased by his wife, Ina; son, Glenn; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Roland; sisters, Edith Tulk, Eva Brinson and Effie Morgan. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sons, Ivan (Doreen) of Aspen Cove, Larry (Alma) of Aspen Cove, Curtis (Joan) of Gander; daughters, Barbara Faulkner (Ronald) of Aspen Cove, Jacqueline Faulkner (Harvey) of Aspen Cove, Bonnie West (Robert) of Ladle Cove, Cassie Coles of Aspen Cove, Joan Guy (Lawrence) of Musgrave Harbour; daughter-in-law, Irene Coles of Aspen Cove; brother, Wilfred Coles (Annie) of Aspen Cove; sisters, Flossie West of Carmanville, Sadie Bemister of Aspen Cove; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. GOODYEAR, Baxter -
Passed away on October 24, 2002 at the Health Science Centre, St. John's, Baxter Goodyear of Deadman's Bay, age 68. Predeceased by parents, Eldon and Mary Pearl; nephew Ryan; niece Kimberley Ann; and brother-in-law Newman Stokes. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Phyllis; sons, Aubrey (Velda), Lindy, all of Deadman's Bay, Dwayne of Toronto, ON and step-son Raymond of Gander; daughter Sadie of Edmonton, AB and step-daughter Barbara of Deadman's Bay; brothers, George (Mary) , Harvey (Celma), Winston (Barbara), Carson (Ruby), Leo (Joan), Lawrence (Goldie), all of Deadman's Bay, Sidney (Shirley) of Hare Bay and Newman (Linda) of Couirtice, ON; sisters, Mabel Stokes of Lumsden, Blanche (Harold West) of Ladle Cove, Lorraine (Seaward Mouland) of Musgrave Harbour and Violet (Bill Elson) of Toronto, ON; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. DOOLEY, Daniel -
Passed peacefully away on October 25, 2002 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Daniel Dooley in his 87th year. Predeceased by brothers, James, Martin and John; brother-in-law, Steven; sisters, Ellen Catherine and Nora; and sister-in-law, Annie Dooley. Left with fond and loving memories are brother, Gerald (Mary Elizabeth) of Gander; sisters, Mary Hollahan of Gander and Nellie (Mark) Kelly of Gander; also a large circle of other relatives and friends, nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held on October 28th at the Catholic Church, Sweet Bay. Donations in his memory can be made to the Kidney Foundation and the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander/Carmanville.

CASHIN, Brendan James -
Passed away suddenly on October 30, 2002, Brendan James Cashin, age 61 years. Predeceased by his parents, Gregory and Mary. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Linda (nee Greene); his girls, Carolyn (fiancé Stefan Jensen), Colleen (Shanne) Owens and Angela; brothers, Gus (Nina), Ron (Margie); sisters, Magdalen Patey (Bert), Angela van Humbeck and Genevieve Cashin; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral mass was held on November at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Gambo. Rested at Pritchett's Funeral Home, Gambo.
