Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

CHEESEMAN, DANIEL
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late DANIEL CHEESEMAN of Marystown announces his passing. Daniel passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center in St. John's on December 5, 2018 at the age of 65. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his wife Marion of 44 years; son, Stephen (Victoria); daughter, Krista Ennis (Jim); 3 much beloved grandchildren, Maria, Natalie and Ryan; his mother Adele Cheeseman; brothers, Norbert (Susan) and Charles (Minda); sister, Josephine; mother-in-law Blanche Myles plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Daniel was a lover of music and had a natural gift for playing a variety of musical instruments, including guitar, accordion, mandolin and banjo. He frequently volunteered his talent to entertain at venues such as seniors homes. An avid sports lover, he also throughout his life gave generously of his time coaching minor hockey and softball. His friends and co-workers will remember him not only for his volunteering and music but also for his sense of humour, and his practical jokes. He will forever be missed for his deep love for family, his bright endearing smile, his piercing blue eyes, and lust for laughter. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in his memory to the Kids Eat Smart Foundation of Newfoundland & Labrador (www.kidseatsmart.ca). As per his request, cremation will take place. His remains will be resting at Wiseman's Funeral Home in Marystown.

CUZA, MARY M.
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late MARY M. CUZA of St. Lawernce announces her passing. Mary passed away at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Center in St. Lawrence on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the age of 82. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband, Marcel of 63 years; sons, Patrick (Marie) Cuza of Paradise, Peter (Sue) Cuza of Lakeside, NS, and Larry Cuza of St. Lawrence; daughters, Barb (Terry) Belbin of CBS, Joan (Henry) Lambert of St. Lawrence, Jean (Gary) Cuza of CBS, and Juanita (Ken) Hryciuk of St. John's; 7 grandchildren, Terry, Stephanie, Ryan, Megan, Andrew, Stephen and Matthew; brother, Fabian (Dorinda) Harnett of Ontario; plus a large circle of family and friends. Mary was predeceased by her parents Patrick & Jessie Harnett; brothers, Gerard & Patrick; sisters, Patricia, Mildred, Joan, Regina, and Pearl; infant grandchild, Melaine Fitzpatrick; and parents-in-law, Peter & Mary Cuza. DICKS, LEWIS
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lewis Dicks of Grand Bank announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on December 15, 2018 at the age of 90 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Hughie (Mary) of Marystown and Kevin of Grand Bank; daughters Marilyn Watts (Junior) of Robert's Arm, Vivian Roberts (Vaden) of Manitoba, Irene Dicks of Clarenville and Verenia Leights (John) of Grand Bank; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild plus a large circle of other family and friends. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Bernadette of 34 years; mother, Vera Dicks: son, William of Halifax; daughters, Heather Dicks of Mt. Pearl and Michelle Dicks (Kris Mackenzie) of Halifax; 3 grandchildren, Brendan, Aaron and Thomas; brother, Corey Dicks of Marystown; sisters, Carol Ann Mason of Mt.
