Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

ANTLE, JAMES
It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) K Antle announces his peaceful passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Thursday, January 23, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories brothers Eugene (Josie) of Burin, Brian (Dot) of Burin, Neil (Elaine) of Grandfalls-Windsor, Robert (Sue) of Burin; nephews Dion and David, nieces Tammy and Jennifer plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Bert and Kitty Antle and nephew Colin Antle. In Keeping with Jim's wishes cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving visitors on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 1-9PM at Serenity Funeral Home. Burin.mFuneral Mass will take place from St. Patrick's Parish RC Church, Burin on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 10:30 AM with inurnment following at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Burin. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to a charity of one's choice. "Our family wishes to thank you for your kindness and support. We are humbled by the care and compassion shown to us by all of you at BPHCC. Our brothers' passing was one of love and peace. We thank you for making this last memory of his one of dignity and grace."

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Chartrand of St. Lawrence announces her passing at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on January 6, 2020 at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son James Storey of Manitoba and Cynthia Alm (Harvey) of Manitoba; grandchildren Samantha and Destiny; sister Patricia Papail; and her second family the staff members from Kingsway Living, St. Lawrence. EDWARDS, ESTHER C.
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late ESTHER C. EDWARDS originally of Lawn announces her passing. Esther passed away at her home in Marystown on January 30, 2020 at the age of 75. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her; daughter, Claudia Hodge (Darin) of Edmonton, AB; 2 grandchildren, Hayley Silva (Andres) and Tori Hodge; 1 great-grandson, Noah; brothers, Ken Edwards (Kate) of Lawn, Wayne Edwards of Lawn, Clyde Edwards (Sylvia) of Lawn, and Lloyd Edwards of Lawn; sisters, Myra Drake (Ed) of Lawn, Phyllis Wilson of Marystown, Marina Kearney (Kev) of St. Lawrence, Pearl Kearney (Henry) of Lawn, Heather Edwards of St. John's and Karen Quirke (Dan) of Lawn; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Jean Edwards. As per Esther's wishes, cremation will take place. The Edwards family will be accepting visitors at Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Lawn on Monday, February 3rd from 3pm to 9pm with a vigil at 7pm and a Funeral Service for Esther will take place on Tuesday, February 4that 10am. It is with great sadness that the family of the late MARGARET ENGRAM of Fortune announces her passing at the Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank on Thursday January 30, 2020, at the age of 79. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Todd Engram (Amanda) of Manitoba; daughters, Bernice (Ed) Perham of Pool's Cove, Geraldine Engram of St. John's, Michelle (Dave) Matthews of Grand Bank, Teena Engram of St. John's; brothers, Roy Dominie (Nina), Eli Dominie (Darlene); 6 grandchildren, Sheldon, Stephanie, Scott, Alexis, Elizabeth, Adam; 4 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Stirling, Theo, Jay; special niece, Linda Kendall (Eric). FEWER, Chris
1953-2020
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Chris Fewer of St. Bernard's, announces his passing. Chris passed away in his home in Marystown on January 13, 2020. Leaving to mourn are his three brothers John (Cora) of Marystown, Alf (Barbara) of St. Bernard's, Gerard (Goldie) of Marystown. Nieces and nephews, Mary-Jo, Bo, Gaye-Anne, Shane, Nicholas, Danny, George, Geraldine, Lucille, Jackie, Paula, Suzanne, Cassandra, Tyrone, Kristen, Lisa and a large circle of relatives and friends. Chris was predeceased by his parents Gerald Fewer and Solange Fewer (Parrott) of St. Bernard's, his brother Paul and his sister Cassie. Chris will always be remembered for his love for his family and friends and of music and his great sense of humor. FOLLETT, Elsie May
It is with great sadness that the family of the late ELSIE MAY FOLLETT of Grand Bank announce her passing at Kingsway Retirement Centre in Grand Bank on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the age of 87. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Douglas Follett (Mona) of Molliers, Danny Follett (Diane Byers) of Bonnyville, AB; daughter, Barbara (Stephen) Walsh of Bonnyville, AB; 3 grandchildren, Samantha, Dan, Kimberley; 2 great-grandchildren, Tony, Skyler; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, James Follett; son, Ken Follett; parents, Charlie & Clara Royal; brother, Jim; sisters, Maria, Mary. The Follett Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Home in Grand Bank on Tuesday, January 14th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Wednesday, January 15th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm & 7:00pm to 9:00pm. GRANDY, Susannah Amelia
Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Susannah Amelia Grandy (nee Green), has arrived at the end of her life's journey. Born in Dec. 8, 1923, she was the first of nine children born to Fred and Frances Green (nee Bungay). Predeceased by her grandmother Mary Scott Green(1930), brother Scott Green (1935), infant daughter Marion (1942), sister Mary Green (1946) mother Frances Green (1947), father Fred Green (1977), in-laws Stephen and Beth Grandy (both 1960), her aunt, Eliza Forsey (1989), and husband Leonard Grandy (1998). Left to mourn: Daughter Marion Bonnell (Leo) of Clarenville; sons Tom Grandy (Don) of Petite Riviere, NS; Carl Grandy of Grand Bank and Clayton Grandy (Linda) of L'anse au Loup and cousin Vida White of Grand Bank. Also left to mourn are six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. There will be no visitation. No flowers and donations by request. A private funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, Grand Bank, at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 12th for the immediate family and friends of Susie. Susie will be laid to rest next to her mother Frances Green at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank.

HACKETT, Elizabeth
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late ELIZABETH HACKETT of English Harbour East announces her passing. Elizabeth passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the age of 79. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her sisters, Alice Simpson (Walter) of Grand Le Pierre, Ada Poole of English Harbour East, and Sheila Foote (Eugene) of Burin; brothers, Guy Hackett (Hannah) of English Harbour East, and Eric Hackett (Eileen) of Terrenceville; sister-in-law, Mercedes Hackett of Brooks, AB; brother-in-law, Pat McKinnon of Kamloops, BC; many nieces and nephews; plus a large number of family and friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Clayton & Winifred Hackett; brother, Bill Hackett; and sisters, Joan McKinnon and Doreen Hackett. The Hackett Family will be accepting visitors at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, English Harbour East on Tuesday, January 7th beginning at 2:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, January 8th all day. It is with deep sadness that the family of the late MARIA G. HISCOCK of Grand Bank announces her passing. Maria passed away at the Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the age of 87. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her daughter, Judy Fowler (Jim) of Carbonear; grandchildren, Tara Hunt (Jim) and Trevor Fowler (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Leah, Anna and Thomas; sister, Doris Parsons (Adrian) of Clarke's Beach; sister-in-law, Vida White; plus a large number of family and friends. Leaving to mourn, her loving husband James, sons Raymond (Cecilia), St. Catherine's, ON, David (Joshie) Creston South, Boris (Norma), Sudbury, ON, daughter Beverley Cheeseman (Gordon), Rushoon; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren: brother Wayne Good (Margaret), Winnipeg, MB, Sisters Ruby Pike (Edgar), Bay L'argent and Diane Banfield (Hayward), Mount Pearl; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Mondella is predeceased by her parents Raymond and Alice Good and son Clayton. It is with great sadness that the family of Alma Elizabeth (Betty) Moulton of Epworth announces her peaceful passing at US Memorial Long Term Facility St. Lawrence, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with loving and precious memories husband Ronald of 62 years, daughters Sheila Hodder (Neil) of Epworth and Shirley Myles (Daryl) of Churchill Falls, grandsons Shane & Steven; sisters Bernice Drake of Salmonier, Mary Dodge (Ernest) of St. John's, Pauline Withers (George) of Portugal Cove, Rosalind Taylor (Ernest) of Salmonier, brothers Andrew Riggs (Margaret) of Salmonier plus a large circle of other family and friends. Cecil passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center in Burin on January 23, 2020 at the age of 73. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Loretta of 47 years; son, Richard Senior (Jennifer) of Parker's Cove; daughters, Wanda Jones (Eugene) of Paradise, and Amanda Murphy (Melvin) of Red Harbour; 5 grandchildren, Mackenzie, Andrew, Liam, Zachary, and Benjamin; brother, Calvin Senior (Betty) of Red Harbour; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Cecil is predeceased by his parents, John R and Susie Bell Senior, and brother, Wallace Senior.
