Burin Peninsula Obituaries
July 2008

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

BENNETT, Richard
(April 10, 1934 - July 12, 2008)

Passed peacefully away at his residence, Rushoon on Saturday July 12, 2008 Richard Bennett of Rushoon in his 74 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Agnes of 43 years; sisters Helen Whalen of Placentia, Bertha Picco and husband Cornelius of St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s Bay; brothers William and wife Irene of Rushoon, Joseph and wife Alice of Rushoon and Cornelius and wife Patricia of Rushoon; plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents James & Mary Bennett; brothers James & Patrick Bennett; sisters Annie Picco, Caroline Lowery and Violet Ivey. Rev. Fr. Stephen officiated Funeral Mass from the Christ the King RC Church on Monday, July 14, 2008 with interment following at Christ the King RC Cemetery, Rushoon. Pallbearers were Cornelius Bennett, Joseph Bennett, William Bennett, Joseph Ryan, Joshua Picco and Charles Norman. Crossbearer was Randy Bennett. BIRD, Margareta
7/5/1931-7/27/2008

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre with her family by her side Margareta Bird of Garnish in her 77 years of age. Predeceased by husband Allan Bird. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters Violet (Howard) of Garnish and Linda (Wayne) of Garnish , four grandchildren Shawn (Cindy) of Garnish, Gregory (Trudy) of Gander, Blair (Gen) of Petewawa,On, Justin (Garnish), Two great-grandchildren who she adored Brandon from Gander and Aaron from Garnish; brothers Jim Hardiman (Eva) of St. Catherine’s, Ont, Garfield Hardiman (Coleen) of St. Catherine’s, Ont; sisters Annabella ( Eric Ford) of Port au Basques, Ida (Rodney Ford) of Port au Basques, Heida of Port au Basques, Susan (Leonard Eddy) of Lead Cove, Theresa (Randolph Clarke) of Garnish plus a large circle of other family and friends. Donations in her memory to the St. Giles Cemetery Fund, Garnish. Resting at St. Giles Anglican Church on Monday from 2pm and all day on Tuesday. 1954-2008

Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Sunday July 6, 2008, Margaret Clowe of Marystown in her 54th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her mother Frances, husband Rusty and ever remembered and ever loved by son Craig and wife Melissa. Sisters Georgina, Mildred, Jacqueline, Levina and Linda, Brothers Charlie, Victor and Louis Jr. Also leaving to mourn are Dale, Lillian, Zachery and Tyler plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting and Visitation to take place from White Dove Funeral Homes in Marystown on Tuesday July 8, 2008 from 1 pm to 9 pm, Wednesday July 9, 2008 from 10 am to 9 pm and Thursday July 10, 2008 from 10 am to 12 pm. Leaving to mourn wife Valerie of Fort Mac, AB; daughters Lily and husband Marlon of Fort Mac, AB, Glenda, Loretta and husband Bernie of Fort Mac, AB; son Brent and wife Gail of St. John’s; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters; brothers Harold of Lawn, Isadore and wife Helen of Jean DE Baie, Dave and wife Bertha of Lawn; sister Lillian and husband Douglas of Texas, US; best friend Jimmy Walsh and a large circle of nephews, nieces and other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Herbert and Maud Fitzpatrick; sons Dwayne and Joseph; daughter Michelle. Passed peacefully away at the B.P.H.C.C. on July 9, 2008, Thomas Graham of Marystown in his 77th year. Leaving to mourn are sons Tom Jr. and wife Joyce of Mount Pearl, and Stuart of Halifax; daughters Jo-anne of Marystown, Judy and husband Paul Seurattan of Cole Hr., NS, Andrea of St. John’s and Susan husband Andrew Moulton of Mount Pearl. Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Home, Grand Bank on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 Mabel Moulton of Lewin’s Cove aged 97 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories son Wavell and wife Mary of Lewin’s Cove; daughters Kay and husband Fred Snow of Clarke’s Beach and Veva Moulton of St. John's; daughter-in-law Shirley Moulton of Burin; 16 grandchildren & 26 great-grandchildren; brothers Leonard, Gerald & Arthur Inkpen; sister-in-law Mary Inkpen plus a large circle of family and other friends. Predeceased by husband Edward, son Bruce, brothers Kyle, Jack and Eugene, special Cousin Sue Dunford. Rev. Mary Harris officiated Funeral service from Serenity Chapel, Burin on Friday, July 11, 2008 with interment following at Hope United Cemetery, Lewin’s Cove. PARDY, Darlene
(May 10, 1962 - July 26, 2008)

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Saturday, July 26th, Darlene Pardy of Little Bay East, age 46 years. She leaves to mourn: brother David at Little Bay East; Aunt Jane Williams (Glenn) at Poole's Cove; and also a large circle of cousins and friends. Remains resting at St. Mary's Anglican Church Harbour Mille on Sunday July 27th at 10:30 AM. Funeral Service will take place on Monday at 1pm from St. Mary's Anglican Church Harbour Mille. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Mille. No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to her brother David Pardy. Passed peacefully away at her residence in lawn on Sunday, July 13, 2008 Lillian Strang of Lawn in her 90th year.Leaving to mourn daughters Madeline and husband Alvin Beck of Kelligrews and Helen and husband John Grant of Lawn; daughter-in-law Sandra Strang of Lawn; sons George and wife Jean of Fox Trap, Walter and wife Norma of Ottawa, Alfred and wife Marie of Lawn, Ken and wife Lorraine of Lawn, Jack and wife Doris of Lawn, Theophilus of Lawn and Michael of Lawn; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; plus a large circle of other family and friends. Thanks to the Home Care Workers. Predeceased by husband Thomas A; sons Thomas F. and Alexander. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Mary; sons Roland (Phillippa) of C.B.S., Tom (Joan) of Little Bay, Eugene (Mary) of Little Bay, and Angus (Marg) of Creston South; daughters Elizabeth (Marcel) McCarthy of St. John’s, Bernice (Ken) Barnes of C.B.S., Doreen (Dave) Murphy of Marystown, Amy (Joe) Rowlands of Little Bay, and Sharon (Tom) Brake of St. John’s; sisters Margaret Rennie, and Gertrude Lundrigan; brother Jerome Walsh; Son in law Bob Ryan 21 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of relatives and friends.
