It is with great sadness that the family of the late KATTERINA BARNES ----------of Garnish announces her passing in Burnaby, BC on June 11, 2018 at the age of 53. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are parents, Jacob and Norma Barnes; children, Layne Barnes of St. John's and Samantha Barnes (Jon Taylor) of Gander; brothers; James (Gina) of Paradise and Paul (Marion) of Paradise; aunts, Colleen Clarke (Bruce) of St. John's and Sarah Hillier of Fortune; uncle, Samuel Barnes (Sharon) of Grand Bank; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. SLANEY, ROGER JOHN
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late ROGER JOHN SLANEY originally of St. Lawrence announces his sudden passing on June 24, 2018 at the Cape Brenton Regional Hospital. Roger was born in St. Lawrence, NL to Herb and Therese Slaney on May 15, 1960. Roger was a man of various talents. He was an accomplished musician who shared his love of music by teaching others to play the guitar and played with many bands over the years. He was a talented soccer player and coach in his younger years. In his 30 year career with the Canadian Coast Guard; he was highly respected by his peers and was presented with immediate awards for his performance on the job. But most importantly, he was a loving man with a fantastic sense of humour and boundless compassion. People always felt like they had a special connection. He was a wonderful husband, son, father, brother and friend. Roger was predeceased by his father, Herb Slaney and he is survived by his wife, Valerie, his sons Ryan (Krista) and Tristan, his mother, Therese as well as his siblings, Christina (Jacques) Perrot, Gary Slaney, Rudy (Karen) Slaney, Lisa (Jim) Loder, Sonia (Andy) Slaney, Rodney (Barb) Slaney and Claudia (Frank) Brockerville. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in St. Lawrence on August 2, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Vigil to be at 8:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be on August 3rd at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Cecilia Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Lawrence. Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin, NL, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, ALIVINA "BEATRICE" TAYLOR, of Creston South, NL, in her 90th year. Leaving to mourn her loving son William (Emily), Creston South, daughters Audrey Decker (Clay Matchem), Marystown, Virginia Powell (Boyd), St. Thomas, ON; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Beatrice is predeceased by her husband Chester, parents Andrew and Elizabeth Hodder and a brother and sisters. Resting at Peninsula Funeral Home, on Wednesday, June 13, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm and Thursday, June 14, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston South, on a date and time to be announced. Interment will be at the United Church Cemetery, Carbonear, NL on a date and time to be announced. No flowers at the request of the family. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late ----------AMBROSE J. WHITTLE of Parker's Cove announces his passing. Ambrose passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the age of 75. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Vivian of 48 years; sons, Terry (Jean) of St. John's, and George Whittle (Evelyn Cox) of Winterland; daughters, Anita Navarette (Jobrey) of Clarenville, Sandra Hayse (Corey) of Marystown, and Lisa Whittle (Charlie Norman) of Marystown; special nephew, Edward Whittle (Margie) of Parker's Cove; 8 grandchildren, Kayla, Dillon, Trevor, Karen, Dale, Keisha, Bailey & Zoe; sisters, Kathleen Harris of Harbour Breton, and Annie Gaulton of Parker's Cove; brother, Pius Whittle of Marystown; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Ambrose was predeceased by his parents, Edward & Julia Whittle; son Dale Whittle; and brothers, George Whittle & Martin Parrott.
