Born to Frank and Laura in 1949, Levi was raised in his beloved community of Port au bras. There he worked hard, raised a family, and took great pride in caring for his property. It wasn't until he met the love of his life that he decided to pack up and make Salt Pond his home.
Over the years, Levi and Marion spent countless hours renovating their home, and beautifying their property until it was just perfect. It's no wonder that his place became the hub for most family gatherings. Father's day, Mother's day, and Christmas were especially important. All the family-including his children's mother, Pat- would come together and celebrate all the occasions. Now that's togetherness! Levi had a very strong and devoted relationship with his children and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He worried about them as much when they were grown as he did when they were little. Each of his children would receive countless phone calls from Levi every day, just checking in to see if they were OK and how their days were going. If his children had problems, he had a solution. If they needed something, Levi got it for them. He supported and guided them through good times and bad, and made the glass always seem half full, not half empty. One of Levi's passions was music. He had quite the collection of records, and CDs and there was no artist or song that he didn't know. He played music for hours in his garage, singing along, as he had quite a voice. Back in the day, he would get onstage and sing with bands, and enter karaoke competitions as well. Levi was a huge Montreal Canadians fan, and a hockey buff as well. That would be his other passion. There was no trade he didn't know about, and no player Stat he couldn't riddle off. He was also quite the athlete himself. He would give his kids a run for their money back in the day, whether it be hand hockey on the kitchen floor, or soccer in the family yard. Over the past several years, Levi developed a keen liking to the Salt Pond walking trail. He would frequent the trail twice a day for his walk. He met many friends from his walks, some of who became like brothers. He was so kind and friendly to everyone he met on the trail, always having a little hello or a quirky joke for other trail patrons. His wife, Marion, would walk with him sometimes, but mostly his walks were reserved for the men. Before losing his battle, Levi finally got his wish and made Marion his wife while laying in a hospital bed. It was his dream to have Marion take his last name, and he was so proud he got to do that. A generous heart, a kind soul, a wonderful father, and devoted husband. Levi will be missed by all of those people who were lucky enough to have had him in their lives.
Special thanks in helping Levi through his journey to the Chemotherapy Unit at BPHCC, for keeping dad smiling through his treatments. To Dr. McCarthy and the nurses on the medicine ward, for showing both Levi and his family the upmost of care and compassion through his final days. To Dr. David Kwinter, his family doctor for the past several years, for getting dad through any health issues. To Dr. Quigley and Dr. Evans in st. John's, for navigating him through his sickness. To Jennifer Mitchell, for allowing Levi to marry his best friend at his bedside. The family will be forever grateful to all of you. "We learn. We listen. We walk with you."

HARDING, Kevin
Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving wife and children on June 27th, 2023, Kevin Harding formerly of Creston North Marystown. Celebrating and cherishing his life are his wife of 58 years, Lenora Harding along with children Brenda Callahan (Chris), Michella Harding (Norman Hanlon), Derick Harding, Sharon Harding-King (Shane), and Janet Pink (Leonard). Dad was always comforting and supportive; showing us what love and respect was in the way that he cared for our Mom. He was always there through ups and downs teaching us to work hard and enjoy everything life has to offer. Dad was also a devoted Grandfather to Christopher Harding (Jennifer), Courtney King (Jesse Mann), Ryan Callahan (Zara), Caitlynn Crane (Lee), Jonathan Pink, Peridot Harding, and Liam Callahan. He was also an attentive Great-Grandfather to Ryleigh and Wesley Crane for which he felt so blessed. Kevin was a wonderful son to Wesley and Eileen Harding, along with being a concerned brother to Angie Fitzpatrick (Con) and Jeannette Zamzam (Parvis). He was a Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews along with having many cousins near and far. Either through work or pleasure, Dad developed many close friendships; and we always enjoyed hearing his stories. Over the years he worked as a picker at an Ontario tobacco farm and a machine shop in Toronto. As an accomplished welder he had many jobs: IOC in Wabush, the Marystown Shipyard, the Fluorspar Mine in St. Lawrence, Department of Transportation (High Roads), finally opening his own business in Creston North - Harding's Welding and Auto. After selling his business and retiring, he continued to work at the St. Lawrence Fish Plant. Never an idle man, Dad was dependable and always ready for a new job. Equipped with his Chevy pickup and welding machine, he worked for many people on the Burin Peninsula from local businesses and clergy to neighbours down the street or across the bay. Everyone knew they could rely on Dad for a job well done. One of Dad's proudest accomplishments was building an 18 foot latted boat - in his basement no less. This started many adventures on the water including cod fishing, picking mussels off The Big Rock, squid jigging, dragging for scallops and picnics on a nearby sandy beach. Dad always put family first and we had many camping trips across the island - grandparents in tow. We enjoyed skidooing on Garnish Pond, ice fishing, skating, checking rabbit snares, cook ups at the cabin, swimming and trouting at Rattling Brook. He enjoyed taking us for a Sunday Drive always ending with the ice cream treat. The man we called Dad was someone we all looked up to and could only hope that we were the same as we grew into adults ourselves. He treated everyone fairly, loved us all, and never once said that he wished for a different life. Although impossible to list everyone, we would like to mention some of those special friends; Gordon and Georgina Hollett, George and Millie Brushett along with Diane, David and Sandra Emberley. We would like to acknowledge Dr. George Goucher, Shauna Walsh N.P., Dr. Chris Earle, Dr. David Dalton, all the nurses and support staff of 5SB at the Health Sciences Centre along with Dr. Roger Bulter and staff of Home Dementia Program. Your kindness and professionalism will always be remembered. Anyone wishing to honour Kevin's lifelong commitment to his family, friends, and community can make donations to the Alzheimer's Society or Canadian Cancer Society (NL Division) in his name. As per the wishes of our parents, there is no funeral or memorial service planned at this time. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service will be scheduled to celebrate his long and incredible life.
"Picture a wave in the ocean. You can see it, measure its height; the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through like a rainbow. It's there and you can see it; you know it and know what it is - it's a wave. It crashes into the shore and then it's gone, but the water remains. The wave was a different way for the water to be for a little while, but then it returns to the ocean where it came from and where it is supposed to be."

Leaving to mourn, son David Barnes (Jessie) and daughter Lorraine Snook (Jullien) of Fortune, grandchildren Mark (Melissa), Jonathan, Travis (Christina), Veronica (Damien), great grandchildren Jack, Nevaeh, Faith, Jaxson, Sophia, sister in-law, Ruby Lake (Cecil), special Homecare worker of 19 years, Linda Brushett and her husband Gary, who treated him like one of their family, and a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by wife Ida, parents Alec and Nina Price, and sisters Mary Thornhill and Melita Mavin, parents in-law, Onslow and Rebecca Barnes. George was born on Brunette Island. His family moved to Grand Bank when he was a very young child. He met and married the love of his life Ida Barnes, and they raised their family in Fortune. Throughout his lifetime, George found joy in the simple things. In the early years he worked with the RCMP doing guard duty and typing reports. During this time of his life, he became involved with the Boy Scout Movement. As Scout Master he spent many hours with his scout troops, taking them on many adventures and preparing them with wilderness training. He enjoyed every minute of it and would reminisce of those days often. Later in life, George became a member of the PTA, and in the year 1982 he co-founded the Gran-For-Line Association. He spent countless hours attending meetings and educating the public on Inclusion and how important it is. George believed that all children mattered! On his days off from working as a Security Guard with Fishery Products International, George could be found beach combing. He spent endless hours walking up and down the beach searching for inspiration for his next little building projects. He found many treasures there and would bring them home and create countless model boats and airplanes, one of which included a wooden model Aircraft Carrier which ended up being too large to remove from the room in which he had built it. The ship included lights, a crew and even small model aircraft, which he built by hand. He was also an avid kite builder and would build one for any neighbourhood children who may want one. George had a meticulous eye for detail, which is evident in the countless plastic model kits that he had assembled right up until a few years ago. They were all proudly displayed at his home. Anyone who knew George would tell you that he was an avid reader and storyteller. He enjoyed many discussions on history and Newfoundland Culture and he enjoyed entertaining people with his witty humor. There was never a dull moment when he was around because he would have everyone laughing. George loved wholeheartedly. Being with his family brought him such immense joy. He spent countless hours with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His face would light up when they visited. They have made so many memories together and his love and big personality will live on through them.
In keeping with George's wishes, cremation has taken place and a grave side service will take place on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at 11:00 am at the All Saint's Anglican Cemetery in Fortune, NL.
