The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

ANDERSON, VINCENT FREEMAN
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Vincent Freeman Anderson of Burin announces his passing. Vincent passed away at the Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the age of 74. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his siblings, Joyce Broydell (Benjamin) of London, ON, Don Anderson (Bernice) of Halifax, Harvey Anderson (Amelia) of Burin, Frazer Anderson (Elaine) of Burin, Doris Dober (Raymond) of Marystown, and Debbie Lambe (Fred) of Guelph, ON; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Kitchener and Evelyn Anderson; brother, George Anderson; and sisters, Mary Simms, and Jessie Denty. The Anderson Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Homes in Burin on Saturday, September 26th from 7-9 pm and Sunday, September 27th from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm.

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late JERRY ANDREWS of Shoal Harbour formerly of Creston North announces his passing. Jerry passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the age of 82. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife, Mabel of 56 years; sons, Brian Andrews (Faye) of Creston North, and Jeff Andrews (Karen) of Topsail; grandchildren, Aaron Andrews (Cheryl), Jonathan Andrews (Samantha), Stephen Andrews (Brittany), Jessica Baker (Brandon), and Stephanie Andrews (Geoffrey); great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Claire, Katie, Maxwell, Zachary, Logan, Eli and Levi; sisters, Velma Curtis (Jack), and Yvonne Smith (Lem) both of Port de Grave; brother, Bradley Andrews (Joan) of Creston South; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Korean War Veteran, HERMAN R. DENTY, of Little Bay East announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the age of 88. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Marina of 63 years; son David Denty (Athena Stokes) of Harbour Mille; daughters, Pamela Denty of Little Bay East, and Lorraine Hodder (Greg Reid) of CBS; 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler (Megan), Travis (Nikita), Jessika (Matthew), Rebecca (Jordan), Brittany (Kat), Ashton, and Pacey; 5 great-grandchildren, Tahlia, Cassidy, Miles, Gabriel and Dominic; sisters, Rhoda King of Brookside, Ruby King of Brookside, Vera West of Nova Scotia, and Bessie Sheppard of Boat Harbour; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. DEVEAU, JOSEPH LOUIS
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Joseph Louis Deveau of Marystown announces his passing. Joseph passed away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at the age of 86. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Annette; son Darren (Sherry) of Creston South; daughter Joanne Murphy (John) of Moncton, NB; 3 grandchildren D.J. Deveau, Joshua Murphy, Jared Murphy; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Joseph was predeceased by his parents Louis & Melinda Deveau. It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late EMILY LAURA EDWARDS (nee Crews) of Lawn announces her peaceful passing. Emily passed away at the Burin Peninsula Heath Care Center in Burin on September 26, 2020 at the age of 83. Our joyful mother was a woman of character, strength, faith and generosity of self. We are so blessed to have had such a good role model. Emily was predeceased by her husband, Walter; her son, Edmond; and her parents, Harry and Daisy Crews (nee Noseworthy); her sister, Alma (Brake); and her brother Nathan. Leaving to mourn four daughters, Thecla (Eymard) Kelly, Daisy (Julian) Brockerville, Rose (Wilson) Tucker, and Lana (Jeff) Cole; one son, Keith; 9 grandchildren, Carlin, Farron, Kris (Leslie), Renai (David), Troy, Trevor, Rebecca, Susan, and Stephen; 4 great-grandchildren, Emilea, Jake, Sophia, and Cole. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late THOMAS HENNEBURY of Lord's Cove announces his passing. Thomas passed away at the Health Science Center in St. John's on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the age of 74 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his sisters, Muriel Cuza (Albert) of St. Lawrence, Mary Hemmens (Pete) of Ontario, Shirley Mayo (Gerald) of Green's Harbour, and Kathy Hennebury (Steve) of Ontario; brothers, Hubert Hennebury (Joyce) of Lord's Cove, Clyde Hennebury (Gail) of Lord's Cove, and Freddy Hennebury of St. Lawrence. HODDER, HARVEY CLARENCE
On 17 September 2020, Harvey Clarence Hodder, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at the age of 77 surrounded by family. Born in Creston South (Marystown) on 03 March 1943 he is predeceased by son David, parents Levi and Rebecca Hodder, father- and mother-in-law Lewis and Lexie Noseworthy, siblings Hazel, Marie and husband Clarence Hodder, and Ann. He married his soul mate Pearl Noseworthy in 1962 with whom he shared two beautiful children; Marilyn (Clint) and David. He is survived by his wife Pearl, daughter Marilyn (Clint), grandchildren Matt (Laura) and Rebecca, his siblings Don (Joan), Enos (Edith), Carol (Sam), Donna (Gary), brother-in-law Lewis Noseworthy (Mary) and sister-in-law Marilyn Carter (Donald), special friends Joan and Jerome, and a wide circle of relatives, neighbours and friends. Special thanks to his friends, neighbours, and church community who cared for him and supported Pearl in his final months. Additional thanks to the Palliative Care Program with Eastern Health who provided exemplary care and support to him and his family. As an educator, Harvey held teaching positions in Botwood and Point Leamington prior to an extensive teaching and administrative career with the Avalon Consolidated School Board in three different Mount Pearl Schools. Harvey was a passionate and enthusiastic volunteer in his community. Over the years he volunteered with many organizations including; United Church of Canada, First United Church (Mount Pearl), NL Society of Florida, Board of Regents for Memorial University, local/national parliamentarian associations, and many others. As a long-time committed community leader, he served one term as councillor, one term as Deputy Mayor, and then 4 terms as Mayor of Mount Pearl. Harvey then moved on to serve five terms as a member of the House of Assembly for the district of Waterford-Kenmount, later renamed Waterford Valley. He was the first directly-elected Speaker of the Legislature (2003). As Speaker, Harvey served as President, Newfoundland and Labrador Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and one term as President, Canadian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
Harvey received honours including the Mount Pearl City Builders Award, the Patriot Award from O'Donel High School, the Canada 125 Commemorative Medal, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal (2002) and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal (2012). Harvey believed that the strength of a community is measured by how its citizens reach out to each other to foster a sense of belonging and caring. He lived every day demonstrating these beliefs and advocating for those needing a helping hand. Kind, compassionate, and fiercely loyal, Harvey will be remembered fondly and missed immensely. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private service for family and close friends will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home Mt. Pearl Chapel on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2pm. Ruby passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin, on Friday, September 11th, 2020 at the age of 60. Ruby was predeceased by her parents Hubert and Beatrice Hodder and brother in law William Withers. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her sisters Rose Tarrant (Dean), Mooring Cove and Eliza Withers, Marystown; her brothers Charles (Margaret), Creston South, and James (Frances), Rock Harbour; plus a large number of relatives and Friends. MacBEATH, DONALD A.
Donald A. MacBeath, Q.C
., originally of Moncton NB, long-time resident of Marystown NL, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre at age 70 years. While Don was a Come From Away, he embodied the spirit of a true Newfoundlander. A master of Newfoundland history and culture, it would be no surprise to find Don on stage performing in a traditional Newfoundland play or as a mummer on your doorstep. In his 45 years of practicing law on the Burin Peninsula, Don was steadfast in his advocacy for his clients and his community. He was appointed a Master and Taxing Officer of the Supreme Court of NL. Don served as President of the Burin Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre Board, Chair of the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation, Founding Member of the Grand Meadows Golf Course, Chair of Marystown Community Living Foundation, Bencher of the Law Society of NL, President of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, and provided mentorship to countless members of the legal community. He was awarded the Gordon M. Sterling Distinguished Service Award by the Law Society of NL in 2015 for his contributions to the legal profession. Don was predeceased by his father, Donald A. (Sandy) MacBeath. Mourning his loss are his wife of 42 years, Mary McCarthy; son Alex; mother Betty MacBeath (née Anderson); sisters Bonnie MacBeath, Margo (Allen) Beers; sisters-in-law Jeannette (Vic) Lundrigan, Genevieve (Keith Roberts) McCarthy, Bernadette (Craig) Squires; brothers-in-law John (Nora) McCarthy, Thomas (Rita) McCarthy, Robert (Donia) McCarthy, Hugo (Karen) McCarthy; and a large circle of family & friends in New Brunswick & Newfoundland, including the legal community. John was fatally injured in a workplace accident in St. John's on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the age of 61. John loved life and had an immense love for his family.
