BAKER, Jessie
Passed peacefully away at home in the presence of her loving family on Monday, September 5, 2022, Jessie Baker in her 89 year. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her sons, Harold Baker of St. John's and Arthur Baker (Donna) of Grand Bank; daughter Maxine Loveys (Bruce) of Grand Bank; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Sharpe (Donny) of CBS, Jessica Baker (Shane) of CBS, Dylan Rose of Grand Bank and Rebecca Rose (Kyle) of Grand Bank; 3 great grandchildren Reegan & Makynlee Sharpe, Lexi Brooks; sister-in-law Marjorie Baker; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Helen Mary Barnes (PRICE) of Grand Bank announces her passing. Helen passed away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, at the age of 82. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her sons, Stewart Price (Bernice), Stephan Barnes; daughters, Cora Price (Paul Norris), Judy Tapper (Bob); sisters, Melita Crocker (Max), Loretta Crowley; brother, Ambrose Price; 2 grand children, Chris Penney (Tracy), David Penney (Jennifer); 6 great-grand children, Alyssa, Nicholas, Marcus, Dylan, Avery, Leah.; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Rex Bungay of Grand Bank announces his passing. Rex passed away at his home in Grand Bank surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 63. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late John Cheeseman of Marystown, formerly of Rushoon announces his passing. John passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, at the age of 71. DANCEY, FRANCES PEARL
Passed peacefully away at Glenbrook Lodge after a very brief illness, in the presence of her loving family, Frances Pearl Dancey age 101. (January 26, 1921-September 26, 2022). Predeceased by the love of her life husband, Howard Dancey (1985); parents John and Lillian Adams (Mitchell) of Great Burin Island; twin sister Maud Martin (2019); brothers Ronald Adams, Cecil Adams, Herbert Adams; twin sisters Patricia Guy and Alfreda Moulton. Left with cherished memories children: Judith Hudson (John deceased 2018), Helen Neimor (Donald), John Dancey (Flora-Lynn); loving sister, Cordelia Mayo (Kenneth deceased). Also remembering her for her unending interest in their lives, grandchildren: Sharon Batstone (Chris), Christopher Neimor (Leah), Matthew Hudson, Derek Neimor (Laura), Erin Dancey (Ryan), Sarah Dancey (Tyler); great grandchildren Alison Batstone (Ryan), Jack Hudson, Jayne Batstone, Mya Neimor, Henry Neimor, Maeve Neimor, Eli Neimor, Arlo Neimor and Odin Traverse. Also leaving with beautiful memories a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews together with a large circle of friends. Mom grew up in Great Burin where at the age of 9 she and her family had to run for higher ground to escape the Tidal Wave of 1929. Like many young women of that era, she left home at an early age and headed to Toronto for work, where she made many friends and had wonderful experiences including a number of trips to Florida. After several years she returned to Burin to marry Dad moving to 32 Shaw Street in St. John's which became the go to place for many Burin visitors. Mom was an lifetime member of the Wesley United Church Women where she made some wonderful friends. Family was her life and she was a wonderful cook, baker and homemaker. At age 55 when her family were raised she went to work at Agnes Pratt Home and became a valued member of the cooking staff. Mom Lived with Helen and family for 35 years until mobility issues required her to move to Glenbrook Lodge two years ago. Mom was very content living at Glenbrook where the staff were very caring and compassionate. We would like to thank each and every one of them for their kindness which will never be forgotten. A special thank you to the drivers of the GoBus, which allowed mom to come to dinner a couple of times a week and to attend many other functions including our weekly card game. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday September 27, 2022 from 7-9pm, Wednesday September 28, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Barrett's Chapel on Thursday September 29, 11:00 am. DUNPHY, Sheila Marie
It is heavy with hearts and great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sheila Marie Dunphy on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the age of 81 of Epworth, NL. She is now reunited with the love of her life Peter Dunphy (2014). Beloved mother to son Brian (Lori) of Epworth; daughters Mary Francis (Sandy) of Burin, Michelle Kilfoy (Ernie) of Marystown and Georgina Boone (Gary) of Epworth; Cherished grandmother to Justin, Jevon (Kelsey), Scott, Christopher, Mackenzie and Michael; great-grandmother to Braidenn, Jakob, Zachary, Kinslei, Zuri, Landon, Reid and Wren; siblings Catherine, Pete (Josephine), Martin, Peggy(Kurt), Brenda (Charles), Mary (Gordon), Harold (Vera) and Rita plus a large circle of nephews, nieces and other family and friends. Predeceased by parents George and Clara, husband Peter, brothers Jack and Patrick; sister Mary; son-in-law Norbert; brothers-in-law Vince and James. Sheila loved to laugh and have fun with her family, she played cards like a shark and was a pro at darts. She looked forward to playing bingo every week. Also if you mentioned trouting she was ready with her rod to go and if anyone wanted to go berry picking she was there. She was the light of her children and great-children life's but after she lost Peter in 2014 who was the love of her life, she fretted herself. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren accomplishments when she talked about them you could see the love shining from her. Sheila was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. FOX, Elmer
Passed peacefully away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Elmer Fox age of 81 of Grand Bank. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his brothers, Bill Welsh and family of St. John's, Barry Welsh and family of Grand Bank, Marvin Welsh (Jennifer) and family of Paradise; special niece Barbara Andrews and family of St. John's; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Elmer was predeceased by his wife Shirley Fox; son Roy Fox and mother Eva Welsh. In keeping with Elmer's wishes, cremation has taken place. GREENE, Alice Catherine
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Alice Catherine Greene of Marystown, formally of Salt Pond, announces her passing. Alice passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022, at the age of 76. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her daughters, Trudy Michaels (Craig) of St. John's and Audrey Comerford (Glenn) of Portugal Cove-St. Philips; sons, Philip Greene (Bonnie) of Cairo, Egypt and Vince Greene (Kelley) of Marystown; 7 grandchildren, Crystal, David, Nicole, Amanda, Mae, Kate, Amy; sister, Margaret Spencer; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Alice was predeceased by her husband Moses Greene; her parents Philip and Mary Brake; special friend Maurice Drake. The Greene Family would like to thank Alice's homecare workers, the staff of the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center, Eastern Health Community Health and Marystown Retirement Center for all the care and kindness shown to their mom. HARDING, ELIZABETH ANN
It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Harding announce her sudden passing on Friday, September 23, 2022. (1971-2022). Predeceased by parents Vincent and Margaret Walsh and parent-in-laws Albert and Olive Harding.Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Shawn, and her two beautiful daughters, Caroline (Jason) and Christina, who were the lights of her life. Her girls always confided in their mom. She listened to their rants, dried their tears and gave them great advice. Family was everything to Betty, Betty was everything to her family. Their hearts are forever broken. With memories in abundance but mourning her loss are brothers Vince (Donna), Glenn (Joanne), brother-in-law Murray (Tammy) and sister-in-law Suzanne (Jim). Betty was loved and adored by her nieces and nephews: Jenna, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Jacob, Samantha, Dylan, Magen and Kelsie. They will never forget their Aunt Betty! Betty's pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Her kindness and inviting ways made everyone feel welcome in her company. The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Betty. Going to the cabin, a campfire and sing-along, a boat ride out the bay, a cup of tea with family and friends around the kitchen table, these things brought much happiness in her simple daily activities. Betty was a leader, a volunteer and always jumped in to help others whenever she could. She devoted 12 years of her life as a brownie leader, serving for many years even after her girls moved on from the program. Her work at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation was an excellent fit. Her caring and giving personality certainly shone through and her contribution over the years helped with the success of the foundation. Betty's many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and special friend - cousin - soul sister Mary, will miss her tremendously, along with her furry friends Sage, Ivy and Mya. Betty's parents, Vince and Marg, met their baby girl with open arms, with Sandy, her beloved dog, standing close by with a wagging tail. ,"GONE FROM OUR HANDS BUT NOT FROM OUR HEARTS" Family will be receiving visitors from Serenity Funeral Home, Burin on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Eli Lace of Grand Bank announces his passing. Eli passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Thursday, Sept 22. 2022 at the age of 81. It is with great sadness the family of Donald Robert Legge of Garnish announce his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on September 26, 2022, at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with precious and loving memories loving wife of 50 years Dona Legge; son Dion Legge (Melanie); daughter Karla Tucker (Devon; grandchildren Nicolas Legge, Matthew Legge, Mark Wiscombe (Heather), Lucas Legge (Kaitlyn), Chase Tucker, Natalie Tucker; great-granddaughter Charlotte Rose; brother Ludwick (Rowena); sister Betty Simmons and a large circle of other relatives and friends. As a young boy he grew up in Garnish and he loved playing Soccer one of his favorite things to do, He loved his family dearly and took such pride in his grandchildren, and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his wife Dona who was the love of his life and they were together for over 50 years. Donald enjoyed his job at the Marystown Shipward where he worked all his life. He was a incredibly hard worker and a good natured man, who was always willing to share a joke. He loved Salmon Fishing and was always ready to go out on the ponds Donald will be remembered by his love and devotion to the people he loved. He was loved by all who knew him and he had a smile that would light up the room. In keeping with Donald's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. LOCKYER, JASON ALLAN
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jason Allan Lockyer of Brooks Alberta, formerly of Boat Harbour, announces his sudden passing on Monday, September 26th, 2022, at the age of 46. Jason loved life, was easy going, would be the life of the party and always had a smile for you. That smile was even bigger when he was with the joy of his life, his son Caleb. Whether they were out to the lake, fishing, sitting by a fire or visiting Daphne and her family in Calgary, Jason was a devoted dad and spent any free time he had with Caleb. He loved bringing Caleb to Newfoundland and spending time with his parents, siblings, family and friends. Jason loved a great BBQ and a big juicy steak shared with family and friends. He cherished his family and they cherished him. This also holds true for his work family at Cruz Lite Trucking, he was so appreciative for how they supported him and he valued them so much. Born December 19, 1944 in Grand Bank, Newfoundland.

predeceased by his loving wife Ardith (neƩ Dunford), and leaving daughters Beth and Ruth, sisters Maxine Rose (Tom), Louise Hickman (Max), brother Eli Patten and special niece Anne Hillier (Keith), as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Kelowna, Newfoundland, Australia and elsewhere. Predeceased by his sister Geraldine Matthews and parents Gerald and Georgie Patten. He was a fantastic dad, husband, brother and a great friend to those fortunate enough to know him and to play the beautiful game of soccer alongside him. Soccer was his passion, and played with the Gee Bees (Grand Bank), Fieldians (St. John's), Kelowna Kickers and Wagga Wagga soccer clubs, among others. He was an avid outdoorsman, dedicated teacher, and a joy to all those he encountered, making sure that whoever spoke with him left at least with a smile. We are so thankful for the time we've had with him, but are comforted that he is now with God our Heavenly Father, granting him peace and comfort as he rests in his loving arms. After raising her 11 children she spent and enjoyed many years of baking, cooking, and of course caring for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anyone who was blessed to know Ida throughout her life knew how hard she worked for her family and her passion of cooking for all of them. She had amazing cooking skills which she passed onto most of her children and was enjoyed by anyone who came through her doors. She was always going door to door with something for anyone that was in need and making sure anyone around was well fed. She was firm, stubborn, and stood her ground with anyone else when necessary. She would say what she was thinking and didn't care what people thought. But you could always depend on her to tell you the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not, Ida's faith was very strong, praying for everyone throughout her life, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.The family will be receiving visitors from St. Joan of Arc RC Church, Frenchman's Cove on Thursday September 15th & Friday September 16th from 10AM -9PM.
