Kenneth Rose
, 95, of Westmount passed peacefully, surrounded by those he loved, after a long illness with Alzheimers on March 13, 2018 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Kenneth was born March 15, 1922 in Belleoram, Newfoundland to the late parents of Hebert and Charity Rose. He was survived by siblings, Alton, Enos, Charity and Tom and predeceased by Ada, Irene, Sarah, Francis and Bob. Kenneth was predeceased by the love of his life, June Frances Rose (MacDonald). Surviving children are, Cheryl (Gary) Cooper, British Columbia, Lorraine Rose, Ontario, Heather (Bruce) Lisle, Pennsylvania, Gary Rose, Howie Center, Darryl Rose, Alberta, Brian Rose, Alberta; grandchildren, Angela, Nichole, Juanita (deceased), Sonia, Alana, Brittany, Kenny, Sean; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Curran (deceased), Ella, Jude, Gwen, Ada, Sydney and Amelia; sister-in-law, Marilyn Leon, Ontario.

Kenneth served in the Merchant Marine during WWII and worked 43 years as a carpenter at Sydney Steel. Kenneth loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing with his boys, long walks in Petersfield with June and his prized strawberry plants. His love of children was reflected in the many carpentry projects he undertook to bring a smile to the faces of his adoring grand children. With his many great attributes Ken may best be remembered as the most amazing father/grandfather anyone could have. While residing at Harbourstone, Ken passed the time with his lifelong passion for checkers. Service to be held at St. Alban's Anglican Church, 15 St Albans Ave. (off Victoria Road) at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17 with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Society or Children's Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated.


WAREHAM, Eldred

Glace Bay
(1924 - 2018)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eldred Wareham, age 93. Eldred passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, March 2, 2018, with his loving family by his side. Born in Newfoundland September 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Edward and Elsie Mae (Nauftall) Wareham and was a longtime member of the Warden United Church in Glace Bay.

Eldred moved to Glace Bay with his family at a young age. He met his true love Louise MacLean; they were married in 1948 and had three loving sons, Glenn, Donnie and Roddie. He was a longtime employee with Devco; working as a miner in various mines for 30 years and then worked another 15 years on their railroad.

Eldred loved to bowl and he bowled in various leagues throughout the CBRM, but his pride was he colliery league where he served as a statistician. He bowled a few nights a week up until he was 86 and still spoke of his 400 games and the fun and the pride he got from bowling.

Eldred is survived by his sons Glenn (Lynda),Roddie (Katherine) both of Ont., his son and caretaker Donnie and a special son Murdock (Courtney) MacLean, all of Glace Bay; his cherished grandchildren Nicole, Allison Brad, Robert and especially Jaxon who came into his life just after the loss of his loving wife Louise; putting purpose back into his life and making him smile and be happy. He will also be sadly missed by sisters Cecile, Myrtle, Clara, Jean and brothers Wallace (Marg), Edward Jr. (Carolyn), Harold ( ), Eric (Irene) and several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years Louise; a sister Marjorie; a brother Gerald; a sister in-law Norma, (who was like the daughter he never had) and a daughter in-law Marion.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. followed by a reception, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Memorial donations in Eldred's memory may be made to the Warden United Church, Glace Bay.
