Mary Louise Corbett
, 89 of Whitney Pier, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anastasia (Wall) Doyle. Mary was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish. Mary is survived by her caregiver and son, Michael with whom she resided in Whitney Pier; daughters, Louise (Doug) Ryan, Westmount, Donna (Donnie) Magliaro, Sydney; sisters, Jenny (Jimmy) Riggs, New Waterford, Kathleen Bragg, Bras d'Or; a brother, John (Ban), New Waterford; grandchildren, Ryan (Falon), Louie (Katlyn), Justin (Lisa), Adam, nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and special thanks to Judy Campbell for being such a great friend. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Joseph; sisters, Eileen MacNeil, Jeanette Tighe; sister-in-law, Brenda Murray; brothers, Jim, Neil, and Gerald. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Sydney Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the SPCA. Thank you to Dr. Buhariwalla, and the nurses and staff of 3B, An Cala Units at the CBRH. Daughter of Edward Doyle who married Anastasia Wal on January 14, 1930 at Mount Carmel Church in New Waterford, Cape Breton. He was born about 1907 in Gull Isle and she was born about 1911 in Belle Isle

INGRAM, Edward Ned - 87yrs

INGRAM, Edward Ned North Sydney

With saddened hearts and appreciation for a life well lived, we the family of Edward (Ned) Ingram, announce his passing on July 19, 2019 at the age of 87. Ned was born on the Hunts Island, Burgeo, NL, to the late Frederick and Frances (Harris) Ingram. He later moved to North Sydney where he met and married his wife of 62 years, Stella. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. Ned was employed as a commercial fisherman since he was old enough to bait a hook with his father. When he wasn't on the sea he could be found tending to his garden or in the work shed making doreys and mending nets. He enjoyed many summers with his family in Lake Ainslie camping and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the local crib games. He particularly loved going for ice-cream and taking midday naps.

He is survived by his loving wife, Stella (Groves) Ingram; sons, Edward (Vickie), Lake Echo, Daryl (Leanne), Westville; daughters, Dorothy (David Wilson) and Kelly (Ron Whitty), both of North Sydney; grandchildren, Troy, Shannon, Madison, Ethan, Brody, Josie, Gina and Raymond, also, his sister, Phyllis Eccleston (Michigan). Predeceased by brothers, George, Fred, Howard, Winston, twin brother Sidney, and sister, Marie Keeping. Special thanks to the staff of Munro place at the Northside Community Guest Home and the many new friends he made during his time there.

Visitation for Ned will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. MARTIN, Ida Pearl - 102yrs

Ida Pearl Martin (nee Scott)
, age 102, passed away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in the morning of Saturday, July 6, 2019. Pearl was the last surviving member of her family. She was the daughter of the late John Rueben Galton Scott and Dinah (Bennett) Scott. She was born in Port-Aux-Basques, Newfoundland on December 8, 1916 and moved to Sydney, Nova Scotia at the age of 18. She met and married her husband Baxter, of 66 years, in Sydney before moving to Ontario in 1968. After her husband retired, they made their way back to Sydney in 2001. She truly loved living on the East Coast and called it home . For the past 8 years she has been a resident of My Cape Breton Home for Seniors in Westmount. Pearl was a member of Church of Christ the King, Sydney and a member of the ACW for numerous years. She loved to knit and crochet and even at the age of 101 was still knitting baby hats and donating them to the hospital.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Baxter (2008); her brothers and sisters, Frederick, John, Ethel Moulton, Marjorie Strickland, Rita Evans, Evelyn Lawrence, Arthur Gordon, Dorothy MacNeil, Kenneth and son-in law, Phil Lawrence. Pearl is survived by her four children, Ruby (Marcel) Poirier, Alliston, ON, Gordon (Millie Seymour), Halifax, NS, Judith Lawrence, Sydney, NS, Elton (Rose) of New Waterford, NS, and special daughter, June Marra, Orillia, ON. Pearl, aka Nan' was a loving grandmother to 13, Glenda Poirier, Deanna Tomietto, Paula Williams, Donna Simard, Christopher Martin, Allen Lawrence, Brian Lawrence, Terry Lawrence, Mark Lawrence, Kathy Martin, Wanda Bates, Elton Jr. Martin, and Blair Martin. Pearl had 24 great grandchildren, to whom she treasured and loved dearly. She had a big family and a big heart. She touched a lot of lives and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and everyone who cared for Pearl at my Cape Breton Home for Seniors.

A visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St., Tuesday, July 16 from 1-2 p.m., with a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Jackie Warren. There will be a reception to celebrate Pearl's life following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to My Cape Breton Home for Seniors, Westmount or the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Pearl was survived by daughters, Ruby (Marcel) Poirier, Alliston, ON and Judy Lawrence Sydney; sons, Gordie (Milley), Halifax and Elton (Rose), New Waterford & special daughter, June Marra, Orillia, ON; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Baxter (2008); sisters, Evelyn, Marjorie, Ethel, Rita, Dorothy; brothers, Fred and Gord & son-in-law, Philip Lawrence. PARSONS (Brown), Nadine Pamela - 37yrs
Cape Breton Deaths July 30, 2019 Tuesday

Passed away at her home in Toronto peacefully with her husband Sheldon at her side on July 25/19. Born January 28, 1982 to John & Millie Brown in St. John's Newfoundland. Survived by her husband, Sheldon; father, John Brown; paternal grandparents, Nan and Pops (Olive & Harry Brown); mother & father-in-law, Cheryl & Art Parsons of Glace Bay, NS. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her mom, Millie; sister, Sarah in infancy . A Celebration of Life will be held at Trull Funeral Home 1111 Danforth Ave., Toronto, Ont. Aug. 10/19 from 1-3 p.m. A separate celebration with be held in Newfoundland at a later date. Nadine was an inspiration. She lived each day to her fullest, with a smile on her face that was contagious to all. She was sweet, kind, caring, funny and fiercely brave. Donations may be made in her name to Rethink Breast Cancer as they continue to support her role as an ambassador for the MBC community.
