CROWTHER, MARTHA JANE (INGRAM) - 100 YRS

Passed: March 15, 2019

We have lost a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, Martha Jane Crowther, 100, formerly of Peppett Street, North Sydney, who passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Northside Community Guest Home where she resided for the past four years. She was born June 19, 1918 in Margaree, NL, a daughter of the late George and Sarah Ingram. Martha was a stay at home Mom and loved being with her family, especially her grandkids, whom she had a place in her heart for everyone. We will miss her dearly.

Martha is survived by her sons, Calvin and David, North Sydney, Gary (Marie) Sydney Mines, Dave Jr., Halifax; daughters, Anne (Winston McHardy), Saint John, NB, Debbie (Dave Marshall), Sydney River, Wendy (Jeff Barnes), Florida. Also, by her grandchildren, Tracey and Craig, Allan and Brittany, Alana and Steven, Quentin, Dave and Lynne; twelve great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilson; a son, Donald; a sister; three step-sisters, and a step-brother. The family would like to thank everyone at the Northside Community Guest Home for the wonderful care they gave our mother over the years and special thanks to Homecare worker Marie Forrest for many years of care.

Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery. Mouland, Virtue - 101yrs

Passed: March 17, 2019

With sadness, we regret to announce the passing of Virtue Mouland on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney. Born June 9, 1917, in Cook's Harbour, NL, she was the daughter of the late James and Amelia (Addey) Field. Virtue is survived by her daughter, Vida Hood, Port Hawkesbury; daughter-in-law, Joan Richardson (Kevin), South Bar; five granddaughters, Danielle (Myles Foster), Calgary, Karen (Bruce MacKinnon), Port Hawkesbury, Krista (Ryan Hicks), Kitchener, Jennifer (Jason March), Sydney and Lisa (Allan MacKenzie), Sydney; six great-grandchildren, Iris, Clara and William Hicks, Lucie and Madelyn March and Ella MacKinnon; sisters, Cassandra Penney and Ann Field; and brother, Wesley Field, all in Newfoundland; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Henry Yetman; son, Leslie Silas; son-in-law, William Hood; stepmother, Lillian Field; sisters, Rhoda Whiteway, Minnie Genge, Elsie Field, Amelia Nichols and Dora Bury; brothers, Arthur, Alexander and George Field.

Virtue lived a full and happy life. For 22 years, she worked at the Sydney City Hospital. Virtue was an avid cook, baker and knitter and enjoyed many years camping with her husband in Whycocomagh. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend and we will carry her in our hearts always. The family would like to thank the staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Fisherman's Cove and Dr. S Hall for their compassionate care.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 20 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, March 21 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations can be made to Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice. Petty, Dominic Joseph - 86yrs

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, Dominic Joseph Perry, age 86, on March 31, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by loving family. Born in Benoit's Cove, NL on March 12, 1933 he was the son of the late John and Mary (Youden) Perry. Dominic was a hardworking, loving and wonderful man who devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was always there for anyone in need, with an open heart and a big smile. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Baldwin); daughters, Dawn Marie (Neil), Debbie (Colin), Karen (Kenneth); sisters, Eileen Jesso, Judy Parks, Mercedes Sheppard; brothers, Johnny (Cornelia), Leo (Zita); grandchildren, Devon, Coady, Jacob, Jenna, Brandon and in-laws, Selena, Albert, Jim and Elsie and Joe. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother, Tom (Helen); sisters, Gert and Josephine. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held Thursday, April 4th from 11 to 1:45 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 2 p.m. with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Luncheon at the K.O.C. Ryan, Bartholomew Gerrard - 58yrs

It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and brother on March 7, 2019. Born, May 21, 1960, in Trepassey NFLD, he was the son of the late Wilson and Ita Ryan, and the chosen son of the late Patrick and Josephine Sutton. Barry spent most of his life on the water for work and pleasure, he enjoyed hockey especially the Montreal Canadiens, most of all he loved spending time with his daughter and granddaughters. Barry is survived by his daughter, Cassandra; grandchildren, Natalie and Bailey; brothers, Leo (Joan), Fabian (Regina), Kenneth (Margie), Max (Jo-ann), Vince (Carol); sisters, Mary (Jim) Pennell, Evelyn (Jim) Corcoran, Patricia (Ted) Bassett, Trudy (Ernie) Kennedy, as well as many nieces & nephews, a wide circle of friends and the mother of his daughter, Mary MacLellan. Besides his parents Barry was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Allan, & Gerard, as well as his sister, Dora. A funeral service will take place at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, on Tuesday March 12 at 2 p.m., with Fr. Bill Burke presiding. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Walsh, Harry Arthur Baden - 76yrs

Passed: March 07, 2019

The family of Harry Arthur Baden Hab Walsh sadly announce his passing on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Halifax Infirmary, VG Site. Born March 30, 1942 in Jeffereys, NL, he was the only child of the late Arthur and Effie (Shears) Walsh. He grew up in Sydney. In June 1962 he joined the military where he proudly served with 2PPCLI, then transferred to the Reserves serving with 1RNBR, NB and 2NSH Cape Breton. Upon retirement he helped start a cadet program in 1999 which he stayed with until September 2005. HAB loved living in Grand Mira North where life was a nice slow pace. A man of very few words and easily embarrassed he was usually the target of jokes at family events. After HAB moved to Grand Mira he joined the Marion Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. He so enjoyed this part of his life and spent many hours keeping the financial records up to date.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (MacLellan); children, Andrea, Halifax, Heather (Jim) Burke, Calgary, Jennifer (Carl) Pike, Cole Harbor, Martin (Paula), Winnipeg, Lisa, Hamilton; grandchildren, Mary (Dan) Mills, Calgary, Sarah (Chael) Burke, Calgary, Jake Burke, Calgary, Jack Pike, Cole Harbour, Karen Thorne, Winnipeg; great-grandson, Fisher Burke-Gust, Calgary. Hab will be forever missed by his little companion, Belle, who was never too far from his side.

Visitation will take place Tuesday March 12, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. in Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Wednesday in the Chapel at 11 a.m., with Mr. Gary Grant officiating. Interment at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Marion Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. A Special Thank you to the medical staff at the Victoria General ICU Step Down Unit and ICU for your efforts. Your caring and compassion was appreciated.
