Harvey, Eric Clyde, North Sydney/Ingonish
The Cape Breton Post, September 11, 2019 Wednesday

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Clyde, 67, a friend and neighbour, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. He battled cancer for over 2 years very courageously and said I'm tough-I'll beat this monster always with a smile. He was well aware and conscious until September 2, 2019. Clyde does not have any immediate family. He was the adopted son of the late Albert and (Susie Hodder) Harvey. Clyde spoke very affectionately of his aunt Ruth & Garth Piercy of Margaree, NL. and Robert & aunt Maisie Bushell in the Northside area. His mother had relatives in Frenchvale and Balls Creek, but we don't know names. Cousins from Margaree and Isle Aux Morts, NL. where both his parents were born. He also had cousins and many friends from Ingonish and North Sydney.

Clyde was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br.105 Ingonish and a member of the Ingonish Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 20 yrs. Clyde was a lobster fisherman for most of his life and after retirement, was employed at Victoria Co-op Fisheries. Clyde loved visiting people and playing cards and wouldn't pass up a cup of tea and a snack. He will be missed by many family and friends and especially his friends, Joey who was always a phone call away; Mary with who he enjoyed a morning cup of coffee; and Tommy who was his go to person. Thanks for everything. A heartfelt Thank You to all the staff at the Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, Home Care Workers and V.O.N. for their tremendous service. Tom MacNeil was #1, a very special man (Clyde's words).

Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Clyde will be held at J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, on Friday, September 13, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. A church service Celebration of Life will be officiated by Rev. Carolyn Sharpe in St. John's Anglican Church, Ingonish on Saturday, at 11 a.m., with burial to follow beside his parents. Following the burial, a tea will be sponsored by the Ingonish Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, St. John's Anglican Church Fund, Cancer Society, local food bank or charity of your choice. A more detailed history will be included in the church program handouts. If interested in a copy send email to kbest67@hotmail.com and we will send copy if you are unable to attend service. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
