DROVER, Gladys
The Cape Breton Post, August 01, 2020 Saturday

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Gladys Drover, announce her passing on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at her daughter's residence. Mom was born to the late William and Charlotte (MacDonald) Currie in Rose Blanche, Newfoundland. When Mom moved to Cape Breton for work, she met her future husband of 50 years, Elias Drover. Mom enjoyed a good game of cards, loved BINGO, played darts, was an avid bowler and was a life member of the ladies auxillary with 37 years of service, but the most favourite thing she loved was cooking for her family.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Josephine MacKeigan, Coxheath and Diane Drover, Whitney Pier; son, Elias (Gail), Westmount; grandchildren, Willie, Ernie, Michelle, Joel and Nancy; great-grandchildren, Logan, Landon, Tailor, Bethany, Shaylynn, MacKenna, Layton and Dawson; special great-great-granddaughter, Charlee Rose; sister, Josephine Robinson, Port Morien; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Drover. She was predeceased by her husband, Elias; son, Billy; sister, Catie Loder; and brothers, Matthew, Wallace and James.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 3 from 2-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, August 4 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County. HUDSON, Shawn, - 57yrs North Sydney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shawn Hudson, age 57, on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at his home. Born on March 27, 1963, Shawn was the son of Bill and Doris Hudson of Pouch Cove, Newfoundland. He was a radio vessel traffic control officer with the Canadian Coast Guard for 35 years. Shawn was a loving husband and father who will be dearly missed by his wife, Geri, as well as his sons, Alex (Rhonda) and Riley (Desiree "Des"). Shawn is also survived by his parents, Bill and Doris; his brother, Neil (Barb); sisters-in-law, Corinne (Ron), Kelly (Raymond); brother-in-law, Paul (Heather); nephews, Kyle, D.J. (Mel), Dylan; niece, Courtney. He is also survived by a large circle of friends that became his Cape Breton family. There will be no visitation or service by his request. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will take place in Pouch Cove in Newfoundland at a later date. PIERCEY, Lillian - 90 YRS North Sydney
The Cape Breton Post, July 18, 2020 Saturday

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Lillian (Kendall) Piercey, age 90, on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the Northside Community Guest Home. Born in Ramea, Newfoundland on June 4, 1930, Lillian was the daughter of the late Wallace and Florence (Hatcher) Kendall. Lillian is survived by her children, Michael (Helen) Crant, Nova Scotia, Wallace (Linda) Piercey, Ontario, Jane Piercey (Winston), Ontario, Terry (Janice) Piercey, North Sydney, Linda (Clayton) Carter, New Campbellton, Elaine Piercey (Keith), Ontario, Eileen Piercey, Alberta, Tanya (Stephen) Day, Ontario; grandchildren, Brenda, Kimberly, Wallace Jr., Brandy, Darren Piercey, Amy MacKeigan, Deanna Carter, Christopher, Shane, Kayla, Courtney and Cody Day, a number of great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian Kendall, Twillingate, NL, Caroline Keeping, Ramea, NL; nieces and nephews, also by special friend, Owen Kinslow. Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Freeman Piercey; a brother, Edwin Kendall; sister, Olive MacPhee. The family would like to thank the staff at the Renal Dialysis Unit at the Northside General Hospital for all their care and compassion shown to our mother for many years. Also special thanks to all the staff at the Northside Community Guest Home. The amount of love and kindness that they gave to our mom was truly appreciated. By request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial donations may be given to the Northside Community Guest Home or the Northside Harbourview Hospital Foundation.
