Baker, Pearl Marguerite Pearl is survived by her daughter, Wendy Marie (Jamie) MacDonald, Lower Sackville; son, Paddy (Trudy) Baker, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Candace, Joshua and Colby; and her sister, Marie Lang, Halifax. Pearl is also survived by her very dear friend, Gerry Cormier. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 25 years, Joe; sisters, Bride, Patsy and Mary; and brother, Vince. Pearl resided on Young Street, Grand Lake Road for over 60 years, where friends and neighbours became her family. Special thanks to Joan and Raymond Boudreau and their family who have been lifelong friends and provided love, care and support to Pearl throughout her lifetime. Her many friends and neighbours were very dear to Pearl. Pearl enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends playing darts, bowling (back in the day), Bingo and dancing. Her favourite pastime was her daily walks, 2nd only to shopping. Those in the neighborhood who did not join her on her walk, would greet her daily as she made her loops. As per Pearl's wishes, there will be no visitation, however, a Celebration of Life will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 4th at 11 a.m. with family friend, Raymond Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. CLARKE, Elizabeth Ann "Bish" -- North Sydney During her retirement years, Bish loved spending time at Jersey Cove with her husband and family. She also enjoyed spending time with her two precious grandsons, whom she loved more than life itself. She always said she was the "tata" of two of the best grandsons ever born. She loved watching them grow up into the two wonderful young men they are today. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Conrad, her daughters Roschell, whom she loved dearly, and Krischa, who followed in her footsteps and became an RN, just like her mother. She was so proud of that. She is also survived by her two treasured grandsons Brendon and Steven "Stevie" Clarke, who were her entire world. Left to mourn is her brother Harold "Buster" (Deborah) Keough, and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Michael and her sister, Frances, both in infancy. The family wish to express a special thank you to her doctor, Dr. Andrew Wawer, and the nurses on 2 West, Northside General Hospital, who took incredible care of Bish during her brief stay in the hospital. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. At her request there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Palliative Care of Cape Breton. She served as President of the Catholic Women's League as well as President of the Fortress Senior Citizen's Club. Evelyn was also an active supporter of St. Bartholomew's Parish in Louisbourg. She was so proud to work alongside such wonderful people, dedicated to service and supporting community. Evelyn was a devout Catholic and active member of Stella Maris Parish. Evelyn loved to bake, and everyone who knew her loved her baking, especially her homemade bread. Evelyn donated her cookies, pies, and bread to community functions whenever anyone needed them. Evelyn was reliable, kind-hearted, and she loved to make people laugh. Evelyn made a point of talking to her friends each and every day. She cared for the people in her life immensely and showed great loyalty to them. Evelyn was predeceased by her mother, Mary; father, Robert; and brothers, Albert, and Robert "Bob". Evelyn is survived by her husband, George Henry Phillips; children, Lori (Robert), Jason (Liza), Cindy (Ron), and Todd (Kaitlin); brothers, Ron (Liz), Roy, Dan (Patsy) and Len (Terry); and her grandchildren, Emma, Dylan, Tristan, Olivia, Braydon, Rawan, Ayla, and Parker. Visitation for the late Evelyn Phillips will be held in Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg from 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26th. Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 27th, with Father Ikechukwu Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall and interment will be in the parish cemetery, Louisbourg. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to a charity of one's choice.
