JOHNSTONE, Christopher - Passed peacefully away at the Janeway Hospital on Monday, January 15th, 1990, age 5 years. Leaving to mourn his loving parents Terry and Kathy, one sister Kimberley, his grandparents Nancy and Bon Hensley of St. John's, Joan Johnstone of Yarmouth, N.S. and John Johnstone of British Virgin Islands, great-grandmothers: Jean Martin of St. John's; Lucille Hensley of Winchester, Kentucky; Edith Goodwin of Wolverton, England and many aunts and uncles. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 Wednesday. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Thursday from St. Thomas' Anglican Church. JOY, Christiane F. - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, April 24, 1994. Leaving to mourn her husband John, her parents Hans and Eva Franzen of Carbonear; her father-in-law Flora Joy; her brothers-in-law Robert and David; her sisters-in-law Debora, Mary and Donna; her nieces: Ruby, Sara, Rebecca and Emma; many friends and family and friends in Germany. JOY, Dr. Clifton Joseph - Passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, April 29, 1994. Born in Port au Port, December 8, 1922. Left with fond and loving memories his devoted wife Flora; sons John, Robert (Mary), David (Donna) and daughter Debora; granddaughters Sara, Rebecca, Emma and Ruby; sisters Kathleen Abbott of Port au Port, Geraldine Southcott of Thunder Bay, Dorothy Madison of Boston, Mass., the staff of the Janeway and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m., 7-10 p.m. Sunday, May 1st Funeral mass on Monday, May 2nd at 9:45 a.m. from St. Pius X Church, Smithville Cresent. JOY, Edward (Fub) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, August 16th, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer. Edward Joy (Fub), in his 68th year, of St. John's, long time employee of the City Council. Leaving to mourn his wife Annie (nee Kean); daughters: Carol (Bobby), Patsy (Mike), Marie (Gerard), Barb (Tom), Theresa and Joanie; sons: Jerome, Frank, Brian, Paul (Tanya), Mike (Annette), and Maurice (Marguerite); sister Belle; sister-in-law Doris Scurry; brother-in-law Cyril; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friend Joan Flynn and many other relatives and friends. JOY, Gertrude M. (nee Wall) - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on Monday, May 5th, 1997, Gertrude M. Joy, in her 83rd year, of Holyrood. Predeceased by her husband Jack, October 1989. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons: John and family, Bonavista, Jim and family, Joe, and Peter, all of Holyrood; her daughters: Carmelita Yetman and family, St. John's, Beth and Antoinette, both at St. John's; her sister Josephine O'Brien; her special nephew, Jerry Wall and family, also a circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. Funeral will take place on Thursday, May 8th, 1997 following 11:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Cross Church, Holyrood. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Southside, Holyrood. No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. JOY, Idella Marie - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge, Carbonear, on Tuesday, February 23, 1993, Idella M. Joy of Harbour Grace, age 66 years. Leaving to mourn husband Edward; one sister Mrs. Rita Fahey, Riverhead, Harbour Grace; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey St., Harbour Grace from where the funeral will take place on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow at 2:00 p.m., St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment at the R.C. Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Restoration Project, Immaculate Conception R.C. Church. JOY, Isabel G. - Passed peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Friday, March 17, 1989, retired school teacher. Leaving to mourn nephew Ron Joy and niece Barbara Anne Hawley and husband Austin; sister-in-law Margaret Joy and special cousin Mary Penny. Also grand-niece Kimberly and grand-nephew Kristopher Hawley. She also leaves a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home on Saturday, March 18 and at St. Patrick's Mercy Home Chapel 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. JOY, James - Formerly of Conche. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center, Tuesday, March 18th, 1997 in his 81st year. Leaving to mourn his wife, Maude; step-sons: Mike Hynes (Helen), Verg Hynes (Alice), Pat Hynes (Blanche), Albert Hynes (Sheila), Lou Bartlett (Kay); step-daughters: Lucy Roper (John), Frances Kenny (Brendon); other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Rd. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20th at 10:30 from Corpus Christi Church. Cremation to follow. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home, Holyrood. Funeral to take place 1:30 Sunday from Holy Cross Church, Holyrood. Interment will be in the R.C Cemetery, Southside, Holyrood. JOY, Lawrence - Passed away suddenly at his residence in Happy Valley, Goose Bay, on May 21st, 1996, aged 67 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Leah; four sons: Richard, Michael, Bernard, Justin; and one daughter Dorothy; one sister Florence Fewer, St. John's; and five brothers: Albert, Andrew, Francis and Cecil, all in St. John's and Peter, England; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. JOY, Mary Ellen (O'Reilly) - Passed peacefully away at the Escasoni Complex on Saturday, September 18, 1993, age 95. Predeceased by her husband William Joy. Leaving to mourn daughter Cecilia, sons: Gerald (wife Vivian), Bill, Tom, Frances (wife Vivian), Charles (Helen) and lovingly remembered by 22 grandchildren. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. JOY, Paul - Passed peacefully away after a sudden illness at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, August 3rd, 1994, age 68 years. Leaving to mourn, wife Agnes; son David; two sisters: Frances at Catalina, Rita Fitzgerald at Toronto; three brothers: Michael, Aidan, Gerald, all at Catalina; mother-in-law Mrs. Rose Nolan at Gander, as well as many family and friends. JOY, Richard Edward - Passed peacefully away at Grand Falls Hospital on Monday, Nov. 28, 1994, Richard Edward Joy of Harbour Grace, age 70 years. Predeceased by wife Idella Marie. Leaving to mourn: one brother Kevin (Irene), Coley's Point; two sisters: Mrs. Molly Hierlihy, Gander and Mrs. Elizabeth Carter, London, Ont.; special niece Mary (Bruce) Chaffey and daughter Lori, Gander; other nieces, nephews as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace from where the funeral will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 1:30 p.m. Mass to follow at 2 p.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Project Restoration. JOY - Passed peacefully away August 23 at Grace Hospital, Thomas Edward Joy, age 78 years, of Open Hall, Bonavista Bay. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Margaret Anne, and two sisters, Bridget (Mrs. Cyril Murphy), Clark's Beach, and Helen (Mrs. Joseph Grudman), New York City. Also many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Remains conveyed by Caul's Funeral Home to Open Hall. Resting at Sacred Heart Church, Open Hall. JOY, William - Passed away at the Health Sciences Complex on February 3, 1998, William Joy, age 77 years, of Bay Bulls, after a long illness. Leaving to mourn good friends and neighbours, Gordon and Beverley Rice; also many other friends. Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Visiting hours Wednesday, February 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Funeral following Mass of the Resurrection from St. Peter and Paul Church at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 1998. JOY, Winnifred - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in her 69th year. Leaving to mourn her husband Albert; three daughters: Betty and husband Calvin Summerton of Portugal Cove, Shirley and husband Conrad Labonte of Goulds, Mary Sears of St. John's; one son Albert and wife Maria of Edmonton; two sisters, Sadie Squires and Mary Flynn both of St. John's. Special niece Lucille Redmond of St. John's, eight grandchildren also a large number of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Caul's Funeral Home. Leaving to mourn two: Mary Benoit and Gale Benoit; granddaughter Corina Benoit; two sisters: Helen McLean, St. John's, Mary Young, Port Au Port; close friends: Corrine Power and Brien Whelan; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. JOYCE - Diademia (Dia) J. Sister of the late Reverend Doctor Joseph G. Joyce, former pastor of Wesley United Church, in Toronto, on April 5th, 1979, after an extended illness. Remembered by friends and relatives, including her sister-in-law Mrs. Joseph G. Joyce (Toronto) and two nephews Douglas Joyce (Toronto) and Carlton Joyce (Atlanta, Georgia) and their families. A private service was held on April 7th at the "Humphrey Funeral Home", Toronto. - Joyce, Diademia (Dia) J. 5 April 1979.

JOYCE, G. Herbert - Passed away peacefully June 15, 1991, in Vancouver, B.C., at the age of 88 years. Survived by his loving wife Anna (Soper); son Peter (Gale) of Ottawa; daughter Carolynn Dodds (Jim) of Vancouver; grandchildren Tom, Patricia, Aaron, Rhonda, William, James and Michael; sister-in-law Elinor Soper in St. John's, Newfoundland. JOYCE, Randolph Stuart (Randy) - Passed away suddenly at his home in Toronto on March 12, 1994, Randy Joyce, aged 45 years. Beloved son of George and Jean Joyce of Moncton, N.B. Leaving to mourn besides his parents are his sisters: Carol of St. John's and Elizabeth of Dartmouth, N.S The family will be receiving visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, March 18th from 10 AM - 10 PM and on Saturday, March 19th, from 10 AM - 12 noon. Memorial Service to be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 1994, from The Carnell Memorial Chapel. JOYCE, Susan Mellett Carlton (Sue) - In her 98th year on Monday, August 28, 1995. Widow of the late Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Joyce of Montreal. Born in Souris, Prince Edward Island, Sue graduated from Mt. Allison Ladies College in 1916; in 1921 she moved as a Clergyman bride to Nfld., and to Wesley United Church, St. John's, where with her husband she contributed; among other things, to the founding in 1924 of VOWR, the first church radio station in Canada. Later she shared her husband's pastorate in Merrickville, Ont. (three years) and in Verdun, Quebec (27 years). She was a friend and guide to many. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters in Prince Edward Island and the West. She will be greatly missed by her son Douglas and his wife Dorothy of Toronto, and by her son Carlton and his wife Patricia of Atlanta. Devoted grandmother of David and Andrea of Toronto, and of Carlton Edward and his wife Deirdre of Savannah, Georgia, and great-grandmother of Morgan Kendall and Melissa Ellen, also of Savannah. Lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews in the West, and by dear friends in Quebec and in Souris, P.E.I. Funeral Service at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave. West (at Lascelles Blvd.) Toronto on Thursday, August 31st, 1995 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the continuing work of Radio Station VOWR. Wesley United Church, P. O. JOYCE, William H. - Passed away suddenly at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, April 12, 1991, William H. Joyce of Carbonear, age 61 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Ruby, one son, William H. Jr. and wife Cheryl, Freshwater. Five daughters: Marjorie and husband Malcolm Bradbury, Karen and husband Jerry Clarke, both of Labrador City, Harriet and husband Vincent Jones, Bay Roberts, Debbie and husband David Rockwood, Pasadena, Faye, Carbonear. Thirteen grandchildren; two sisters: Lillian and husband Cecil Bourne, Carbonear, Marjorie and husband Alfred Parsons, Peabody, Mass., also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear until 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14. Funeral to follow at 2:30 p.m. Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Freshwater.
