BARKER, Reverend Father James Kevin
Born In: Open Hall, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Born: July 22nd, 1928
Passed in: St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Passed on: January 12th, 2017

Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family, on Thursday January 12th 2017 at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, St. John's; Father Kevin Barker in his 89th year. Father Kevin as he was known, was born and raised in Open Hall, Bonavista Bay. He was predeceased by his parents James and Sarah, brothers Robert, John, Jeremiah and Michael, sister-in-law Lillian, nephews Jerry, Paul and Pius and niece Peggy. Father Kevin left to mourn sisters-in-law Bridget, Alfreda and Anne, twenty nieces and nephews, as well a large number of great and great-great nieces and nephews and many friends. Father Kevin celebrated 50 years in the priesthood last year. During that time he served in many parishes in the RC Diocese of Grand Falls, including Grand Falls, Windsor, Fogo Island, Gambo-St. Brendans, Clarenville, Bonavista-Port Union, Northern Bay, Harbour Grace and Gander. On his retirement he stayed in Gander, often assisting at St. Joseph's and other parishes throughout the diocese. For the past two years he resided at St. Patrick's Mercy Home. A special thank you is extended to the staff of the Fourth Floor, St. Patrick's Mercy Home, for their outstanding care and compassion to Father Kevin. Father Kevin rested at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road with visitation on Saturday January 14th, then at Sacred Heart RC Church, Open Hall, on Sunday January 15th. Funeral mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Monday January 16th. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Father Kevin's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church maintenance fund.

GALLANT, Tammy 'Tam'

Passed suddenly away at her residence on Sunday, January 29, 2017, Tammy 'Tam' Gallant of Carbonear, age 46 years. Predeceased by, grandparents: Albert and Pearl Gallant and George and Gladys Hiscock. Left to mourn, parents: Brian and Carol Ann Gallant, Carbonear; one brother: BJ (Heather), Carbonear; one sister: Debbie Gallant, Carbonear; nephews: Logan and Alexander; niece: Sophie; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Fr. Anthony Nwoko conducted the Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 2 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Carbonear. Cremation followed. Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, January 27, 2017, Sadie Galway of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 69 years. Predeceased by parents: Frank and Rita Adams; brother: Mose; sisters: Mary and Eileen (Lew). Left to mourn, husband: Mike; daughter: Peggy (Allan) Moore, Carbonear; son: Scott, Riverhead, Hr. Grace; two granddaughters: Taylor and Mackenzie; brother: Frank (Pauline) Adams, Bay Roberts; one sister: Nellie (Ray) Sutton, Clarke's Beach; sister-in-law: Madge Mercer, Bryant's Cove; brother-in-law: George Campbell, St. John's; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. Fr. Emmanuel Osuagwu conducted the Funeral Mass on Monday, January 30 from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. of Carbonear passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, January 23, 2017. Mrs. Meaney was 71 years old. She leaves to mourn her loving family: husband: James (Jim) Meaney; children: James Jr., David (Karen), Susan (Phil), Paul & Sean (Paule); grandchildren: Cody, Gerri-Ann, Sarah, Travis, Jeremy, Emma & Noah; sisters: Barbara (Bern) Peddle, Elaine (Fred) Stone & Marion (Peter) Foley; brothers: Eric (Ruby) & David; sisters-in-law: Sadie Alcock, Mary McCoughan, Anna Hulan & Alice Dawalt and a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by: parents: Leroy and Matilda Alcock; brother: Bert Alcock and sister-in-law: Angela O'Brien. Joining Sandra in her heavenly home, her brother, Douglas who she loved and cherished. The Funeral Mass took place on Friday, January 27, 2017 from St. Patrick's R.C. Church. Interment followed at Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. Passed suddenly away at his residence, Fort McMurray, Wood Buffalo on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, Lee F. Stone of Harbour Grace, age 36 years. Predeceased by grandparents: Fred and Ivy Stone and Reginald Vallis; LeRoy and Matilda Alcock. Also deceased by aunt: Sandra Meaney. Left to mourn, parents: Fred and Elaine, Harbour Grace; girlfriend: Ange MacLeod; one sister: Heather (Cory) Golden, Marmora, ON; two nieces: Emma and Sally; aunts: Margaret LeBlanc, Holly (Norman) Sheppard, Marion (Peter) Foley, and Barbara Peddle (Bern); uncles: Eric (Ruby) Alcock, David Alcock, and Douglas Alcock; a large number of cousins and friends.
