BADCOCK, Mr. Carl W. - Born at his beloved Bishop's Beach, Bay Roberts on October 5th, 1934, Mr. Carl William Badcock, aged 74 years, of Bay Roberts, passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, November 3, 2008, in the presence of his loving family. Predeceased by his parents: William J. and Lizzie (nee Bishop) Badcock; brothers: Winston; brother-in-law: Donald Morgan. Left with many precious memories are his wife Shirley (nee Newell); sons: Carl Jr. (Debby), Scott (Carolann); daughters: Judy (Michael) Frank, Susan (Keith) Mercer; sisters: Mabel Morgan, Marie (Lorne) Gifford; brother: Wallace (Doris); brother-in-law: John (Bin) Newell; 9 grandchildren: Michael (Gerri), Amy (Steven), Amanda (Scott), Stacey (Melvin), Stephen, Aaron, Jonah, Justin, Maggie; 4 great-grandchildren: Alexander, Tyler, Johnny, Emily-Lynn; sister-in-law: Doreen Porter; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Reverend Eric Hillier conducted the funeral service at Central United Church, Bay Roberts on Thursday, November 6, 2008. Inurnment was at Central United Cemetery, Bay Roberts. Pallbearer was grandson, Aaron Mercer. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Moores Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

BELBIN, Hector, Mr. - Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Home on Thursday, November 20, 2008. Mr. Hector Belbin of Clarke's Beach, aged 85 years. Predeceased by parents Lemuel and Julia Ann (nee Trim) Belbin; brothers: Errol (Janet), Walter (Violet), Eldon (Ivy), Edgar (Maude), Aaron and Harrison. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Phyllis (nee Bulter); daughter: Flora (Glenn) Eddy; grandchildren: Jonathan Glenn Eddy, Matthew Clifford Eddy (fianc`ee - Megan Buckle); brother: Lloyd (Rita); sister-in-law: Cecilia; nieces and nephews: Debbie (Jerry) Weir, Harrison Belbin, Gloria (Harold) Green, Dr. Don Belbin, Judy (Merrill) Belbin, Lloyd (Josie) Belbin, Carol (Cluney) Cooze; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Mr. Belbin may be remembered by business associates from his many years in the fire service safety industry. Pastor Barry Hutchings conducted the funeral service at Pentecostal Tabernacle, Clarke's Beach on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Interment was at Pentecostal Cemetery; Clarke's Beach. Pallbearers were Harrison Belbin (Nephew), Cal Dorey (Nephew), Nath Anthony (Friend), Austin Bursey (Friend), Peter Noonan (Friend), Randy Dawe (Friend). Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach.

BENNETT, George Freeman - Passed peacefully away in the presence of loved ones at the Caribou Veteran's Pavilion, St John's on Thursday, November 27, 2008, George Freeman Bennett formerly of Blackhead, Conception Bay, age 91 years. Free was a proud member of the Newfoundland 59th [Heavy] Regiment during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife Ella [Hudson], his parents William and Minnie [Moores] Bennett, brothers Frank and Bert, sisters Annie, Grace, and Betty. Free was a kind, gentle and patient man who will be fondly remembered by his brother Ross and family, sister-in law Josephine Hudson, and his many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and Labrador, other parts of Canada and the United States. He was a very special uncle to Rosalyn Hudson and family of St. John's. Rev: Roscoe Cole conducted the funeral service on Sunday, November 30 at Ocean View United Church, Broad Cove. BUTT, Elva L.- Passed suddenly away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, Elva L. Butt of Carbonear, age 83 years. Predeceased by husband: Frederick 1998; brothers: John and Robert; sisters: Mildred, Jessie and Elizabeth. Leaving to mourn nieces: Peggy Hiscock and Harriett Sweeney; great-nephews: Mark and Justin (godson); great-niece: Tara, also a large number of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Funeral service to take place on Friday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Church and Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear. CROWE, Margaret Loretto (nee Fawcett) - Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, NS, Margaret Loretto Crowe (nee Fawcett), age 58 years. Born in North River, Conception Bay, NL, December 22, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John and Laura (Lawlor) Fawcett. Marg worked at Crossley Carpets for 35 years, was a member of the RCAFA Wing #102 and the Defenders Motorcycle Club, Chapter 15, Truro and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years at Immaculate Conception Church, Truro. She loved the outdoors, walking and touring on the bike. She is survived by her husband Glen "Tiny"; sisters Patsy (Dalton) Faulkner, nephew Kevin, nieces Shelley and Heather, Mississauga, ON, Mary (Len) Doucette, nephews Timmy, Jamie and Andrew, Newmarket, ON; brothers Michael (Brenda) Faucette, nephews Craig and Paul, Kitchener, ON, Edward (Judy) Fawcette, nieces Nicole and Jennifer, Cambridge ON. Rested at Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro from where the Funeral Mass was held 11 a.m. Friday, November 28 at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. GOSSE, Marjorie - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital in Carbonear on November 15, 2008. Marjorie Gosse of Spaniard's Bay, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband: Josiah Gosse. Left with fond and loving memories daughters: Goldie (Allan) Badcock, Carbonear; Dorothy (Robert) McGovern, Ottawa, Pauline (Wayne) Kennedy, Spaniard's Bay; sons: Calvin (Frances) Gosse, St. John's, Melvin (Jean) Gosse, Halifax, Ray (Shelia) Gosse, Corner Brook, Eric (Shirley) Gosse; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; special thanks to Jayne Gosse and family; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Young's Funeral Home, Spaniard's Bay. The funeral service was held 2 p.m. on November 18, 2008 at Holy Redeemer Church followed with interment at Green Head Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay. GUSHUE, Bridget Mary (nee Mullaly) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Thursday; November 20, 2008, Bridget Mary Gushue of Northern Bay, age 74 years. Predeceased by her loving husband, Patrick (1996); brothers, Bill Mullaly, Jack Mullaly and sister Mary Ellen Doyle. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Debbie (John) Whalen, Texas, Dianne (Alan) Brenton, Marystown, Denise (Basil) Cleary; St. John's, Patrick (Diane), Ontario, Joseph (Anne), New Bnmswick and Colleen (Jim) Collins, Washington; grandchildren: Stephen (Amelia), Jerry; Melissa, Amanda, Christopher, Meghan, Matthew, Bridget, Joseph, Victoria, Patrick, Alan, Angela, Elizabeth and Brendan; and great-granddaughter Zoe. Predeceased by husband: James; daughters: Patsy King and Emma (Willis) Parsons; son: Herbert; granddaughter: Dorothy Parsons; grandson: Rodney Kelloway; great-granddaughter: Chantelle Kelloway; four sisters: Emma Crocker, Elexey Clarke, Hannah Jane Reid and Mary Patience Butler. Predeceased by her loving husband John, 1991. MERCER, Hazel Joyce - Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre in St. John's on November 23, 2008. Hazel Joyce Mercer of Upper Island Cove, age 79 years. Predeceased by husband: Freeman Mercer; daughter: Hazel Mercer; sister: Sybil Forward; brothers-in-law: George Jones and Austin Forward. Left with fond and loving memories are sons: Henry (Sylvia) Mercer, Bay Roberts; Paul Daphne) Mercer, Mount Pearl-St. John's; Freeman (Sandra) Mercer, Mount Pearl-St. John's; Terry (Loretta) Mercer, Upper Island Cove; sisters: Ethel (George) Jones, Upper Island Cove; Mary (Joshua) Coombs, Spaniard's Bay; brother: Walter (Emmie) Crane, Upper Island Cove; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. MUGFORD, Mrs. Clara Josephine - Passed away at Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, November.19, 2008, after a well fought medical battle, Mrs. Clara Josephine Mugford, wife of 40 years of Sgt. Ernest Mugford (Ret'd) of Clarke's Beach aged 59 years. Predeceased by parents: Fred and Hilda Oates of Bay Roberts and parents-in-law: Joseph and Olive Mugford, Clarke's Beach. Leaving with a lifetime of treasured memories are her husband: Ernie; son: Darrell (Karen); daughter: Connie; sister: Beulah (Ralph) Parsons; sister-in-law: Donna (Terry) Calloway, brothers: Doug (Jessie), Jack (Geraldine); David (Norma), Winston (Barb), Walter (Jean), Nelson (Linda), Noel (Loisann); 2 grandchildren: Shailynn and Devin; and a large circle of other relatives and friends including those many friendships that were forged during the Mugford's military career which includes postings in Canada and Europe and through their past retirement activities as owners of the Mountainview RV Park, Clarke's Beach. PRETTY, Emma Louise - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital in Carbonear on November 24, 2008. Emma Louise Pretty of Dildo, Trinity Bay, NL, aged 72 years. Predeceased by parents: Harold & Selina (nee Woodman) Pretty; sisters: Elsie (Ralph) Power, Emily (Maxwell) Chipman; brothers: Walter Onsville Pretty; sister-in-law: Mable Pretty (nee Cumby); brother-in-law: Albert Rowe; infant: Margaret Pretty. Left with fond and loving memories sister: Lillian Rowe, Green's Harbour, Trinity Bay; brothers: Aubrey John Pretty, Hopeall, Trinity Bay, James (Marilyn) Pretty, Winterton, Trinity Bay, a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Young's Funeral Home in Spaniard's Bay, Conception Bay. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 26 at 11 a.m., at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church with interment to follow at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay, Conception Bay. ROSE, Hubert - Dad left us from the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, St. John's on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at the age of 84 years to be reunited with our precious pap and nan: John and Naomi Rose of Salmon Cove and his brothers: Will and Ed. Left to mourn their sad loss are his loving wife: Eliza (Clarke); two sons: Baxter (Catherine), Portugal Cove and Fred, Salmon Cove; one precious grandson: Michael, whom pop adored. Also leaving to mourn are his sisters-in-law: Mildred Rose, Olive Rose, Hazel Tucker and Christine Clarke, many nieces, nephews, special friends and relatives.
