ANSTEY, Clara
Born: January 4th, 1927
Passed on: August 22nd, 2011

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Clara (Tremblett) Anstey, on Monday, August 22, 2011 at age 84. Predeceased by her husband, Kevin in 1996, her two infant daughters, Madonna Mary and Madonna Margaret; siblings, Ethel, Edward, Alban, Evelyn, Clarence, Fergus, Katherine, and Hugh. Leaving to mourn her great loss are her daughters, Patricia (Matthew Carey), Mary (Tom Thorn), Margaret (Don Schwartz), Jocelyn (Brian Barnes), and Teresa (Randy Hawkins), and her sons, Kevin and Neil (Paula). Clara was a wonderful grandmother to Michelle, Matthew, Marc, Sean, Ryan, Michael, Keri, Erin, Samantha, Amy, Christopher and Stephen, and great-grandmother to Zoe, Jasmine, Kayden, Malachi, Everett, Clarissa, Kevin and Clayton. Also leaving to mourn her loss are her brother, Jack Tremblett (Mary) and her sister, Eileen Sparkes and numerous relatives and friends. Resting at Central Funeral Home in Grand Falls-Windsor. Visitation took place from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 on Wednesday, and from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 on Thursday. The funeral took place Friday, August 26th at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. BAILEY, Gladys
Born: April 3rd, 1909
Passed on: August 8th, 2011

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving families Gladys Bailey nee Cross, on Monday, August 8th, 2011, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, N.L., at the age of 102 years. Mrs. Gladys Bailey nee Cross was born on April 3rd , 1909 at Middle Brook, Gambo. She married Frank (Sr) Bailey of Bonne Bay. They raised eight children; Frank (Jr), Brymer, Wallace, Guy, Gus, Betty, Mary, & Bruce. For several years the family lived in the the "Mining town" of Buchan's where Frank (Sr) worked at the local bakery. Later the family moved to Deer Lake where Frank (Sr) and Gladys started their own bakery business. Following her husbands death at the young age of 42, Gladys operated the bakery with the help of family members. Bailey's Bakery attracted customers from across the Province, Mainland Canada & the U.S. Gladys retired from her business at the age of 65 years. Since retiring, she has travelled to Alberta & Ontario several times, still energetic and mentally alert up to her hospitalization, she continued to read, knit, watch television & attend her local church. This "Dear Lady" will be missed by all who knew her. Leaving to mourn with fond & cherished memories her children; Guy Bailey & Family, Gus (Betty) Bailey & family, Bruce (Gail) Bailey & family, Betty Moss Perry (Ross) & family, & Mary Bailey & family; her many many grand-children, great grandchildren, great great grand-children & great great great grandchildren. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Frank (Sr); sons, Frank (Jr), Brymer & Wallace; also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family & friends. The family received family & friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL. Wednesday, August 10th from the hours of 7 - 9 pm, & Thursday, August 11th from the hours of 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. The funeral service took place on Friday, August 12th at 2:00 pm from St. Michael's & All Angels Anglican Church in Deer Lake, with The Rev. John Meade officiating with the burial to follow at the family plot of the Anglicans church section at Wight's Road, Deer Lake. Leonard BUTT-March 1, 1937 - August 24, 2011

On August 24, 2011 our lives were forever changed as a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle and respected friend was tragically taken from us. Predeceased by father, John Cecil; mother, Sarah; brothers, William, Jim & Donald. Devoted and loving wife, Julia Tuttle of Shearstown and loving daughter, Janet Kelly who was taken from us, by his side on that day. Leaving to mourn this tragic loss are his daughter, Glenda (Duane Sutherland); grand-children, Lorne and Sarah Ann of Grand Falls-Windsor; granddaughter, Charlene Kelly of Gambo; brother, John (Phyllis) Butt of Toronto; sister, Gladys O Keefe of Pouch Cove; and their families. Also leaving to mourn are Julia's extended family in Shearstown, and the community of Gambo who respected and embraced him, as were as the many friendships he has made throughout the years. He was a beautiful man who touched many lives and our memories of him will be cherished forever. Visitation was held at Pritchett's Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 from 1pm-5pm. Funeral services was held at the Emmanuel United Church in Gambo on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1:30pm. As his wish the committal will take place in Shearstown where his wife Julia is resting.

COHEN, Norma
Born: April 11th, 1914

Former owner and matriarch of the S. Cohen & Sons dry goods business in Grand Falls-Windsor, Norma A. Cohen passed away at her home on August 4, 2011 in Grand Falls at the age of 97. Norma and her sister Freda moved to Newfoundland from Poland in 1926 when Norma was twelve years old. Norma was a devoted mother, sister and aunt, and a pioneering business-woman. Norma was predeceased by her husband Jacob (Jack) Cohen, her sister Freda Cohen and Freda's husband and Jack's brother Michael Cohen. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Cohen, her son Michael D. Cohen and his wife Queena, grandson Daniel and his wife Melanie, grandson Stephen, granddaughter Tracy and husband Steven, great grandchildren Randi-Lea, Jacob, Emily and Benjamin. Her nephew Boyd Cohen and his wife Marie, her great-nieces and nephews and Boyd and Marie's children, Michael T. and his wife Carolann Cohen, Nancy Cohen and her husband Robert Gallant, Margaret Cohen and her husband Howard Zinman, David Cohen and his wife Sarah, and Norma's great-great-nieces and nephews and Boyd and Marie's grandchildren, Michael J. Cohen and his wife Donna, Emily Cohen Gallant, Adrian Cohen Gallant, Isabel Zinman, Clara Zinman, Ethan Cohen and Samuel Cohen. She will be dearly missed. Funeral service was at Carnell's Funeral Home, St. John's. Interment was at the Jewish Cemetery, Black Marsh Road, St. John's.

DOVER, John

It is with sadness that the families of the late John Thomas Dover announce his passing on August 3, 2011 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL aged 84. John is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bridgette Dover; sister, Mary Farrell; step-sisters, Elizabeth and Theresa. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Joyce; children, John Jr. (Sheila), Pauline (Edgar) Tarrant, Harry (Kim), Mary (Bramwell) Seymore, Martin (Joan Pittman), Terry (Tracy), Nora (Hayward Pittman), Mike (Sylvia), Theresa, Cindy-Lee (Jason) Blake; 23 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; step-brother, Michael; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. EASTMAN, Warren
Born: January 10th, 1938
Passed on: August 20th, 2011

After a courageous four year battle with cancer, Warren Joseph Eastman passed away August 20th 2011, at the age of 73, with his loving wife, Laurie by his side. He will be sadly missed by daughter, Linda Tenney (Bob); son, Wayne Durnan of BC; his mother, Blanche Eastman; sister, Dorothy Yetman (Bob) of Nfld.; brother, Clarence Eastman (Millie) of Nova Scotia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hewitt of Brockville; brother-in-law, Don Greaves of BC; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Warren is predeceased by his father, Clarence Eastman and brother George. Warren served as Treasurer and a faithful member of Grace United Church, Caledonia. As a volunteer for Senior Support he was a dedicated Driver and also graciously completed hundreds of no charge tax returns over the years. Warren was an avid gardener and a longtime member of the local Horticultural Society. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Warren's Life will take place at Grace United Church, Caledonia - Saturday, Sept. 3rd at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Church, Caledonia or Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford, ON.

Passed peacefully away at his residence on Friday, August 19, 2011 Edward Martin Flood, aged 87 years. He is predeceased by parents, Joseph and Martha (Myers) Flood; brother, Francis Flood and wife Isabel; sisters, Elizabeth Flood, Marie Burt and husband William; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Arnold family; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Thomas Hennessey; brothers, John, Tom, Michael, Cyril, Edward; sisters, Mary, Isabel, Florence, Pauline, Eileen, Gertrude and Myrtis. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daniel James Hiscock announce his passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre in Botwood on August 22, 2011 at the age of 77. Dan was a member of Oddfellows Lodge, Anglican Sides-men, and Local 88 Papermakers Union. Dan retired from Abitibi-Price on March 1, 1990, and came out with the Golden Handshake. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick; mother, Violet; sister, Patsy; and brother, Bill. Dan leaves with fond and loving memories his wife Anne; son Fred (Brenda Strong) of Clarenville; daughter Lorraine (Phil) Haynes of Grand Falls-Windsor. He also leaves to mourn sisters, Barbara (Roland) Whittle of Gander, Bernice (Hal - deceased) Bernstein, Northridge, Calif, Debbie Pardy, BC; brothers, Terry, Mt. is a day that will be etched in our memory forever as we lost our treasured loved one in a tragic accident. On that day a beautiful mother, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, cousin, friend and neighbour left us forever. Janet was predeceased by her mother, Julia (Tuttle) Butt of Shearstown and devoted and loving father, Leonard, who was also taken from us on that tragic day. Leaving to mourn her loss is daughter, Charlene Kelly of Gambo; sister, Glenda (Duane Sutherland), nephew Lorne and niece Sarah Ann Sutherland of Grand Falls-Windsor; extended families of her parents, Leonard Butt & Julia (Tuttle) Butt who truly admired and adored her. As well as close relationships with Charlene's dad Des Kelly of Wabush and his extended family. Janet will be sadly missed by the community of Gambo and all that knew her as she had many close friends who loved her dearly and treated her as family. She was a gentle soul with a big beautiful heart. We loved her dearly and she loved us. Visitation was held at Pritchett's Funeral Home on Sat., Aug. 27, 2011 from 1-5 pm. Funeral services was held at the Emmanuel United Church in Gambo at 1:30 pm on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011. Committal took place at the Pentecostal ceme-tery in Shearstown, where she will be resting with her mom & dad.

MOSS, Mabel

It is with sadness that the families of the late Mabel Mary Moss announce her passing on Aug. 2, 2011 at the A.M. Guy Memorial Hospital, Buchan's, NL aged 100 years. Mabel is predeceased by her husband, Robert, infant daughter and several brothers and sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are, daughter, Theresa (Selby) Hewlett; son, Raymond (Genevieve) White; grandchildren, Dwayne, Dean, Paula, David, and Wanda; great-grandchildren, Tori, Lucas, Kara and Aiden. Visitation took place from The Saint Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Buchan's Junction Thursday, August 4, 2011. The funeral service took place Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2 pm from the St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Buchan's Junction, NL, with Father Wilfred Calinawan officiating. NOBLE, Donald
Born: July 29th, 1933
Passed on: August 23rd, 2011

Passed peacefully away on August 23, 2011 in his own home, Donald Noble of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 78 years of age. Mr. Noble served as a peacekeeper with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in the mid-fifties. In 1990 he retired from Abitibi Pulp and Paper mill in Grand Falls-Windsor. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Eleanor (Anstey) Noble; brothers, Ralph, George, Frank, Harry, Maxwell and his granddaughter, Marina Hayden. Left to mourn are his wife of 57 years Lucy; daughters, Donna (Wayne) Purchase, Diana (Lloyd) Hayden, Darlene (Darryl) Collins, Dana (Darrell) Payne; sons, Wayne (Sandra), and Davey (Trudi); 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Pastor Gary Andrews conducted funeral services from Windsor Pentecostal Church on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Interment from the Windsor Pentecostal Cemetery, Caribou Road. PELLEY, Wilson

Passed peacefully away on August 16, 2011 at Central NL Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, Wilson Willie Pelley. He was 93 years of age. Mr. Pelley retired from the CNR in 1959. He was predeceased by his wife, Bride; sons, Alvin & Eric. Left to mourn are his sons, Harold (Belle), Robert (Janette), Peter (Debby), Dennis (Arlene); daughters, Jean (Allan), Barbara(Duane); daughter-in-law, Patsy. Also leaving to mourn his 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; sisters, Dot, Kate, Mabel and a large circle of other relatives and friends. It is with sadness that the family of the late Angus Lemoine Reid announce his passing at his residence on Sunday, August 14, 2011 aged 89 years. Angus is predeceased by his parents, George and Elizabeth Reid; brothers, Kenneth and George; sister, Merab. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Gladys of 59 years; sons, John of Calgary, AB, Barry (Brenda) of Gander, NL, Andrew (Tania) of Amherst, NS; daughter, Lynn (Randy) Sooley of Gander, NL; grandson, Reid Sooley; granddaughter, Nichola Sooley. Passed peacefully away at A.M. Guy Memorial Health Center in Buchans on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 Molly Ruth Reid (Tibbs) age 85 years. Predeceased by her parents William and Annie, husband Kenneth, brothers Bill, Ern, O'Lindo, Harvey, Bruce, sisters Margaret, Ida, Inez, and Amy. Left with loving memories are her son Lawrence (Brenda) of Clarenville; daughter Una (Gregory) of Buchans; sister Viola of St. John's; Grandchildren Trevor, Morris, Kevin, and a large circle of family and friends. Funeral service was held on Friday, August 5, 2011, followed by interment at Buchans Community Cemetery. Donations may be made in Molly's memory to the United Church Memorial Fund Buchans. WHEELER, Clarence

Passed on: August 26th, 2011

Passed peacefully away at his residence on Aug. 26, 2011, Clarence Phillip Wheeler of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 64 years of age. Mr. Wheeler retired from Edmonton, AB in 2010 and was a member of Local 1208. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Wheeler; brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Albert and Ernest; sister, Jean Faulkner. He leaves to mourn his wife, Frances Wheeler; sons, Clarence, Phillip, Arthur; daughters, Margaret, Shirley, Frances and Elizabeth. Also leaving to mourn are sisters, Mary Gunn and Lucy Wiseman; three grandchildren, Erica, Little Buddy and Melissa and a circle of other relatives and friends. Father William Houlahan and Clyde Downton conducted funeral services at St. Joseph's Parish on Sept. 4, 2011 with interment at the St. Joseph's cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Phillip Wheeler, Arthur Blake, Bradley Reid, Clarence Ivany, Ron Bishop and John Bishop. WHIFFEN, Leoina
Passed Away On: 05/08/2011

Passed peacefully away on August 5, 2011 at her residence in Grand Falls-Windsor, Leoina Barbara Whiffen. She was 69 years of age. Mrs. Whiffen was a member of the friendly 50+ club. Predeceased by parents, Bill Lacey & Maude Osmond; son, Wayne; sister, Evelyn; brother, Roy Osmond. Left to mourn are husband of 25 years, Jim; her daughter, Kim (Colin Croucher) and her sons, Cyril, Russell, David, and Randy. Also leaving to mourn sisters, Lola, Resa (Bill Meikle) Sherry (Charlie Yates), and Ollie; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father William Houlahan conducted the funeral mass from St. Joseph's Parish in Grand Falls-Windsor on Monday August 8, 2011. Interment to follow at a later date. Pallbearers were Kim Croucher, Barb Lynch, Jean Taylor, Linda Hunt, Ruby Patey, & Lisa Gosse.

YOUNG, Roland

It is with sadness that the families of the late Roland Leonard Young announce his passing on August 2, 2011 at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre, Botwood, NL, aged 87. Roland is predeceased by his wife, Esther; parents, Peter and Rebecca Young; son-in-law, Leonard; as well many brothers and sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Bob (Pearl) of Grand Falls-Windsor; daughters, Betty Beson of Grand Falls-Windsor, Patsy (Ed) Cameron of Point of Bay, Verlie (Winston) Sharpe of Grand Falls-Windsor; Glenys (Reg) Abbott of Musgrave Harbour; Judy (Roger) Penny of Grand Falls-Windsor; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry (Pat) of Grand Falls-Windsor; as well as several nieces nephews, relatives and friends. The visitation took place Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 2-4 and 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. The Funeral Service took place Friday August 5, 2011 at 11 am from The Salvation Army Park Street Citadel, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL with Majors Owen and Sharon Rowsell officiating.
