Passed Away On: 02/06/2011

Passed peacefully away on June 2, 2011 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, James Francis Aylward of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 84 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Helen Aylward; brothers, Vincent and David Aylward; sisters, Agatha Connors, Helen Donovan. He leaves to mourn his nieces, Aggie Donovan, Rita Donovan (Harold), Louise Griffin (Gary), Cecilia O'Rielly (Albert), Genevieve Broomfield (Tom); Nephews, Joseph Aylward (Patricia), Jack Aylward (Bride), Mike Donovan (Mary), Vince Donovan, Mark Donovan (Doreen), Joseph Donovan (Elaine), George Donovan Jr. (Debbie) and a circle of other relatives and friends. Father William Houlahan conducted Funeral Mass on Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Joseph's Parish, Grand Falls-Windsor with interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Mark Donovan, Joe Donovan, Joe Aylward, Jack Aylward, Garry Griffin and Garry Broomfield.

BAKER, Mary
Passed Away On: 22/06/2011
Passed peacefully away on June 22, 2011 at her residence, Mary Baker of Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 81 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; parents Nicholas and Donelle Barry; sisters, Frances Prescator, Gene-vieve Hynes; brothers, William, Roland and Patrick Barry. She leaves to mourn her sons, Joseph, Nicholas (Brenda), John (Holly), Gregory (Janice), Roland (Kimberley), Michael; daughters, Linda (Dennis), Genevieve (Ted), Donelle (Patrick), Patricia (Robert). She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Selina and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service at her request.

BERNARD, Gordon
Passed Away On: 24/06/2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Joseph Bernard announce his passing at the CNRHC in Grand Falls-Windsor on June 24th, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Eileen and son-in-law Eugene Higgins. Left with fond and loving memories are his children, sons: James (Donna) of ON; Stephen (Sharon) of Bishop's Falls; Gordon (Darlene) of Bishop's Falls; Alex (Angie) of ON; daughters: Rita Higgins of Norris Arm; Louise Bernard of Grand Falls-Windsor; Joan (Donald) Penton of Corner Brook; Carmel (George) Vihos of Torbay; and Sharon Bernard of Bishop's Falls. Also leaving to mourn are a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Father Eugene Morris conducted the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Parish in Bishop's Falls on June 27th with interment at the R.C. Cemetery. BOWERS, Uldine
Passed Away On: 20/06/2011
It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of Uldine (Dean) Bowers on June 20, 2011, after a short illness, in the presence of her family at the Central NL Health Care Center. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remem-bered by her children: Linda (Carl Hudson), William (Rona), Marilyn, Robert, Donna (David Hoyles), Barry (Debbie), Larry, Darrin (Diane), Brenda (David Curtis). Also left to mourn are her 15 grandchildren: Julia, Jonathan, Joshua, James, Christopher, Candace, Rodney, Steph-anie, Jonathan, Daniel, Jacob, Sarah, Benjamin, Ellen, Anna and her eight great-grandchildren; Jamie, Cloe, Hannah, Robbie, Alex, Abbey, Simon, Olivia. Also left with fond memories are her sisters; Pansy (William Hann, deceased), Doris (Robert Hann) and brother, Harold Wheeler (Shirley) as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and talented homemaker. Dean will be remembered by those who knew her as a woman who loved her family completely and had an open door for anyone to enter. She is predeceased by her parents Albert John and Ellen Wheeler; step-mother Grace Wheeler; infant son, Keith; brother, Roland and loving husband Bill. Pastors Gary Andrews and Elaine Rideout will conduct funeral services at Windsor Pentecostal Church, Grand Falls-Wind-sor on Thursday, June 24, 2011 with inter-ment at the Windsor Pentecostal Cemetery. It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lewis Bowne, aged 85 on June 16th, 2011 in the presence of his family at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre. Lewis leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories wife, Phyllis of 65 years; sister, Jeanette Keats; sons, James (Barbara), Harvey (Lorraine); daughters, Shirley (Ken) Hoefling, Barbara (Ron) Mercer; grandsons, James (Kim), Bradley, Shannon, Chris Bowne, Ronald (Erica) and Craig (Crystal) Mercer; granddaughters, Phyllis (Dean) Tilley and April (Keith) Stone; great-grandchildren, Tyler Bowne, Samantha Mullett, Kallie Stone, Carter Bowne, Noah Bowne, Grayson Bowne, Laurale Bowne, Jacob Mercer and Luke Mercer; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. CURRAN, David

DAVID WILLIAM CURRAN June 22, 1945 - June 29, 2011
. Husband, father, grandfather and friend, David will be deeply missed by wife Diana (Sullivan), son Sean (Mara Shaughnessy-Poppy to Matilda and Tadhg), daughters Jennifer and Amelia; sisters Mary Mieczaniec (Jack) and Sue Beck (Hazen); brother Edward (Joanne); sister-in-law Roz Sheppard, and aunts Rita Tompkins and Mildred Cochrane. David was a lifelong champion of rural Newfoundland and Labrador communities. He believed strongly in the importance of healthy communities, working at Memorial University Extension Services, the Exploits Valley Regional Economic Development Corporation and as a consultant on rural economic development. An avid supporter of libraries and learning, David loved good books and class-ical music. He was blessed with a tremendous and memorable sense of humour and intellect. David was born in Gambo and is pre-deceased by parents Joseph Curran and Kathleen (Cashin), and brothers Joseph and John. Also leaving to mourn brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, colleagues and friends. David's family would like to extend special thanks to the Central and South Health Foundation Palliative Care Program and nieces Joann Griffin and Sheila Swett for their care and support. Fr. William Hearn conducted the Funeral Mass at Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on July 2nd, 2011 at 11:00a.m. Pallbearers were Jackie Kelly, Joan Curran, Leo Murphy, Joe Sullivan, Garry Griffin and Sean Curran. It is with sadness that the families of the late Fredrick Howard Froude announce his passing on June 11, 2011 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged 69 years. Fredrick is predeceased by his first wife, Ethel; parents Leander and Emily Froude. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Mable and her family; brother, Cecil (Peggy) and Family of Calgary, AB; sisters, Evelyn Canning and family, Gertie Hanlon and Family all of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation took place Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service took place Monday, June 13, 2011 at 2 pm from the Salvation Army Park Street Citadel, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL with Majors Owen and Sharon Rowsell officiating. FUDGE, Edmund
Passed Away On: 25/06/2011
It is with sadness that the families of the late Edmund N. Fudge announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, NL aged 66 on June 25, 2011. Edmund is predeceased by his parents; Tom and Clara Fudge; nephew; Bradley Fudge. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are: his wife, Madeline; sons Rodney of Bay D'Espoir, and Craig (Danielle) Of Oromocto; grandchildren, Jamie, Maghan, Joshua, Emily, Zoie, and Leala; brother, Tom; sisters, Betty, Gladys, Vivian, and Ivy; as well as a several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on June 30, 2011 at the Carmelite House, Grand Falls-Windsor, Sadie Hunter of Grand Falls-Windsor. She was 89 years of age. She was predeceased by husband, Harold; parents, Hayward & Charlotte Lilly Marshall; great-granddaughter, Noelle Tulk, four brothers and one sister. Left to mourn are sons; Albert, Hayward (Ruby), Herman (Elizabeth), Ray (Martha), Glenn (Judy); daughters, Grace, Violet (Ray) Pinsent. Also leaving to mourn grandchildren Linda Power & Corey Smith who were raised by Sadie & Harold; sister, Nellie (Johnny) Currou and brothers, William (Louise), Cyril (Virtue), Robert (Margaret) and Lloyd (Lillian); sister-in-law, Vickie Marshall; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on June 4, 2011 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Wylie Garfield Luff of Bishop's Falls. He was 95 years of age. Mr. Luff retired from Canadian National Railway in 1981. He was predeceased by his infant children, David and Violet; parents, Phillip and Alfreda; bro-ther, Ralph; step-mother, Bessie Kearley; brother-in-law Marshall Welsh; sisters-in-law, Gertie and Viola Luff. He leaves to mourn his wife, Florence Olive (Lane); sons, Allan (Jean), Kenneth (Ruby), Gary (Sandra), Larry (Eileen), Alvin, Glenn (Debbie); daughters, Patsy (Allan) Paddock, Marion (Glenn) Oldford, Darlene (Arnold) Cramm, Pamela (Edmund) Lange and Sharon (Terry) Milley. Passed suddenly away on June 24, 2011 at the Central NL Regional Health Care Centre, Daisy Wilhelmina Mitchell (Noble) of Bishop's Falls, in her 90th year. She was predeceased by her husband Herbert of 33 years; parents, George and Elizabeth Noble; brother, Herman; sisters Winnie Spencer and Vivian Fry. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son, Robert; daughters, Barbara (Earl) Bourque, Linda (William) White, Marilyn, and Lorna (Keith) Berkshire. Verna retired from Nfld. Telephone Company. Predeceased by her husband James; infant daughter Megan; and brother George Noftall. Verna leaves with fond and loving memories sons Ralph (Elizabeth) of Oakville, ON; Jim (Judy) of Montreal, PQ, daughters Laura (Dean) Williams of Topsail, NL; Anne (Jim) Gillard of Montreal, PQ; Judy (Overton) Colbourne of Corner Brook, NL, grandchildren Christina (Ben) Perry of the U.K.; David Morris of ON; Jamie Morris of PQ; Melanie (Gabriel) Toubian of PQ; Megan, Robert, and Brian Williams of Topsail; Jill Colbourne of St. John's; Ian Colbourne of Corner Brook; and Joshua and Simon Gillard, both of PQ; great-grandson Adam Toubian of PQ. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Henley "Nip" Noel announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on June 7th, 2011 at the age of 74. Henley was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Masonic Lodge. He retired from Abitibi. Predeceased by his parents, Henley and Gerty Noel and brother Robert, he leaves with fond and loving memories his loving wife Jean; sons: David (Nancy) of Grand Falls-Windsor; Peter (Lori) of Grand Falls-Windsor; and daughter Pamela (Paul) Pelley of Grand Falls-Windsor. Henley also leaves to mourn his grandchildren: Adam Pelley, Aaron Pelley, Bradley Noel, Rebecca Noel, Erika Noel, Ryan Noel; brothers: Ed, Gordon (Margaret); sisters: Ethel Thorne, Jeanette Krischke, and Lorraine (Wilson) Noble. Rev. Randy Lockyer conducted the funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Friday, June 10th at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery. Passed Away On: 27/06/2011

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eric L. Norris announce his passing at the CNRHC in Grand Falls-Windsor on June 27, 2011 at the age of 76. Eric retired from Safety Supplies. He was predeceased by parents John & Lillian Norris; brothers George and Lionel; sisters Jean Roberts, Annie Payne, and brother-in-law Allan Payne. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 56 years, Bertha; sons: Alfred (Donna) of Ontario; Allan (Fern) of Ontario; Ronnie of Buchans; daughters: Christine Pretty of Ontario; Joan Barker (Glen "Freddie") of Grand Falls-Windsor; Denise Churchill of Alberta; and Judy Norris (Troy) of Ontario. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marion May Pardy announce her very peaceful passing at her home in Grand Falls-Windsor on June 24th, 2011 at the age of 87. May was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. She is predeceased by her husband, Allan; grand-daughter Krista Pardy and grandson David Doiron, Jr. Also predeceased by sister: Ida Tubrett; brothers: Cyril Howse, Bill Howse, Ken Howse, Henry Howse, and George Howse; brothers-in-law: Milton Pardy, Mike Tubrett; and sisters-in-law: Dora Howse, Mary Howse, and Josephine Howse. Passed peacefully away on June 10, 2011 at St. Clare's Hospital, St. John's, James Alloyisious Penney of Bishop's Falls. He was 79 years of age. Mr. Penney retired from Abitibi Consolidated in 1997 and was a member of the Knight of Columbus. He was predeceased by son, Allan; parents Irene and William Penney; brothers, Peter, William and Gerald. He leaves to mourn his wife, Lottie; sons, Gerald (Linda), James (Susan), Paul (Marion), Edward, Robert (Karen); daughters, Donna (Thomas), Deborah (Blair), Margaret (Fred), Roxana (Glenn) and Annette (Brant). He also leaves his 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion, Rita and Marie; brother Tom and a circle of other relatives and friends. - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at the Health Science Centre on Sunday, June 19th, 2011. William Dermot Ryan, aged 75 years. Predeceased by his mother Rita (nee Penney) and father Leonard. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 50 years Helen (nee Palfrey); daughter: Roberta (Ian Chaytor); granddaughters: Emily and Rebecca as well as a large number of brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Special thank you to the nursing staff at the Health Science Centre 4SA and special thank you to Dr. Roger Butler for his continuous support to the family during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. THOMPSON, Valetta
Passed Away On: 28/06/2011
Passed away at Scarborough, Ontario, Mrs. Valetta Betty Cavell Thompson (nee Haggett). Betty as she was affectionately known was born on Change Islands on February 5, 1929 to parents Fredrich & Mabel Haggett. She lived in Botwood for some time and then moved to Ontario where she resided until the time of her passing on June 28, 2011. She was predeceased by parents, three sisters & one brother. She leaves to mourn her husband W. Jack Thompson and a number of relatives and friends both in Newfoundland and Ontario. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
