of the late Edith May Alyward announce her peaceful passing at the Central
Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on Nov.
20, 2008 at the age of 94, after a short illness. Edith is predeceased by
her husband, Lawrence in 1986; parents, Hubert and Beatrice White; brothers,
Thomas, Stephen, Victor, Adolphus and George; sisters, Caroline, Janet,
Greta and Pearl. Left with fond and loving memories are sons, Don (Marg)

BEATON, Charles Raymond – Passed peacefully away on Nov.
12, 2008 at
the Twin Town Manor, Grand Falls-Windsor Charles Raymond Beaton of Norris
Arm. He was 73 years of age. Predeceased by parents, Ernest and Alice
Beaton. Left to mourn with fond memories are his sister, Angela Pinsent

BOWERS, William Cecil – Passed away after a short illness, William
Cecil Bowers at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s. He was 78 years of
age. Mr. Bowers retired from Abitibi-Price in 1990. Predeceased by parents,
Cecil and Maude; son, Keith; brothers, George, Arthur, Chester, Fred
Poole; sister, Jessie Green. Left to mourn are, wife, Uldine; sons, William
(Rona Pynn), Robert, (Jasmine Sadler), Barry (Debbie Toope) Larry, Darrin
(Diane Murphy); daughters, Linda (Carl Hudson), Marilyn, Donna (David

BUTLER, Mary Ellen (nee Rideout) – With great sadness and loss, the
Butler family announces the passing of a very special and dearly loved
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Ellen Butler. Following
a short illness, and surrounded by her loving family, she entered into
the presence of God on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at the Central Newfoundland
Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor. Mary was above all, a
devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was as well, a life-long member
and distinguished pianist with the Windsor Pentecostal Assemblies. Her
faith in God was foremost in her everyday life. Left with many cherished
memories and inspired by her love and devotion, she leaves to mourn her
lift-time partner, soulmate and loving husband, Sidney, of 56 years;
children, Cheryl (Roland Beaton), Joan (Walter Hodder), Judi (Daniel
Blackmore), Roma (Freeman White), Glen (Christine), Scott (Tena) and
Beverly (Peter Rockwood); her grandchildren, Geoff and Kerri, Greg and

Passed peacefully away at the Western Memorial Regional
Hospital in Corner Brook on Wednesday November 5, 2008, Hazel
Giles of Grand Falls-Windsor, aged 94 years. Hazel is predeceased
by husband, Charles (1978), and daughter, Cynthia (1984); sisters;
Laura Hillyard; Grace Hillyard, Priscilla Mercer; brothers, Samuel
Hillyard, William Hillyard and George Hillyard. Leaving to mourn one
son, Robert (Patricia) of Corner Brook; six grandchildren,, Sarah (Halifax);
Susanne (Corner Brook); Charles (Edmonton), Susan White (St. John’s);
Sonya White (Toronto) and Scott White (Edmonton); two great-grandchildren,
Josh and Callie. Also very special nephew and niece Robert and Betty
Hillyard; along with a large number of other nephews, nieces, relatives

GUSHUE, Mary Ann (nee Knee) – Oct. 4, 1924–Nov. 17, 2008 – Passed peacefully
away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at Bethany Place in the Western Memorial Regional
Hospital, Corner Brook, Mary Ann Gushue, at the age of 83 years. Left
with loving memories are her son, G. Gary (Wanda) of Irishtown; daughter,
Wanda of Pasadena; grandchildren, Amanda (Spencer) of Montreal, James
(Nikki) of Toronto, Liam (Genna and little Marley) of London and Patricia
(Brendan) of Regina. She also leaves behind her sister, Stella Welcher;
in-laws, Sandra Gushue, George and Karen Gushue, Emmie and Cyril Piercey,
Leah Knee and Francis (Don) Turner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews
(with special thanks to Bill). She was predeceased by and now reunited

JUDGE, William Joseph (1927-2008) - Surrounded by his wife and children,
William Joseph Judge passed peacefully away on November
10, 2008. He
was 81 years old. Bill worked as a powerhouse operator at the mill in
Grand Falls-Windsor, retiring in 1988 after 41 years of service. He served
in active duty in Korea with the Royal Canadian Regiment (1950-1953);
and, he was an active member of the Grand Falls-Windsor Legion, Branch
12. Bill was predeceased by parents, Mary and Joseph Judge; sister, Helen
(Penton); and brothers, Jim and Joe Judge. Left to celebrate his life
with fond and loving memories are his wife Vera (Janes); his daughters,

family of the late Thomas A. Marshall announce his passing at the Health

Tom was a member of the Buchans Town Council. He was employed at the
Duck Pond Mine, Millertown. He is predeceased by his father William Marshall.

Mr. Osmond was 76 years of age and retired from the scrap metal business
in 1997. Predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Jessie Osmond; brothers,
Harry, Billy, Howard and Cyril and sister, Stella Osmond. Left to mourn
are common-law wife, Melvina Inder and many nephew and neices. Major

PARSONS, Frederick Bertram – Passed peacefully away November
1, 2008 at his residence in Bishop’s Falls, Frederick
Bertram Parsons (originally
of Corner Brook). He was 70 years of age. Predeceased by parents, Bertram
and Winnifred; brother, William; sister, Marion. Left to mourn are wife,

PELLEY, Gary Brian – Passed peacefully away into the presence of the
Lord after a lengthy illness on Nov. 17, 2008, Gary Brian Pelley, at
the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Care Centre, Botwood. He was 49 years of age.
Mr. Pelley was employed with Abitibi-Consolidated until 2006. Predeceased
by parents, Howard and Georgina Pelley. Left to mourn are wife Eleanor;
son, Luke; and daughter, Bethany. Also leaving to mourn brothers, Donald
(Sheila) and John (Ruth) and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Pastors Fraser Roberts, Shannon Meade and Victor Rowsell conducted funeral
services at the Jubilee Pentecostal Temple in Botwood, Nov. 19, 2008.
Interment was at the Jubilee Temple Cemetery, Botwood. Funeral arrangements
were by Hoskins Funeral Home, Botwood. Pallbearers were John Pelley,
Jason Pelley, James Rowsell, Brian Brown, Jeff Nichols and Jon Evans.

PEYTON, Hughie Stine Owen – Born May 6, 1935 to Eli and Lucretia Peyton
of Norris Arm. Passed peacefully away at home on Nov 8, 2008 following
a brief illness; in death as in life surrounded by love. Beloved husband
of 51 years to Elizabeth (Betty Kennedy). Father to Robert (Jennifer),
Gwen (Paul Daly), Linda (John Morrissey) and Elizabeth (Brad Chatfield)
and Poppy to Peyton, Luke, Sean, Thomas, Liam and Zachary. Funeral service
was from Riverside United Church on November 11. In lieu of flowers,

POWER, Edward P. (Ted) – The family of Edward
P. (Ted) Power regret
to announce his passing on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at the age of 72. He
is predeceased by parents, Cecil I. and Ellen; brothers, Vincent, George
and Cecil T. and sister, Patricia. He leaves to mourn four daughters,
one son, one step-son, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; brothers,
Philip (Sheila), Leo (Anne), Paul (Sarah); sisters, Rosemary (Kevin Burke),
Helene (Gerard O'Leary), Nellie, Christine (Alan Mess); sisters-in-law,
Catherine Power and Annetta Power, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

ROWSELL, Ralph (1921 - 2008) – It is with great sadness that the family
of the late Ralph Rowsell announce his passing at home in Grand Falls-Windsor
on November 23, 2008 at the age of 87. Ralph was a member of the Salvation
Army. He retired from Abitibi Price in 1984 with 43 years of service.
Ralph is predeceased by his wife of 60 years May (Groves); parents Eliakim
and Elizabeth Rowsell; sister Bernice; brothers Chesley, Cecil, and Roy.

SPARKES, Wayne Kenneth – Passed away suddenly on Sunday,
Nov. 2, 2008 at his home in Brampton, Ont. in his 47th year,
Wayne Kenneth Sparkes, beloved son of the late Cecil and Violet (nee
White) Sparkes. Loving father of Catherine and Jesse; loving brother
of Clarence Sparkes and his wife, Donna, Melvin Sparkes, Shirley and
her husband, Nelson Cole, Rita and her husband, Gary Uhlman, Ruby and

Howse. Wayne Kenneth will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by

TIANO, Bonnie (1961-2008) – Bonito Georgina Mary Tiano (Mercer), aged
47, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008. She was
born in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, daughter of the late James
and Mary Mercer. Bonnie is the loving mother of Frankie Tiano; dear sister
of Marg Oliver, Helen Mills (Ron), Blanche McKibbon (Dave), Pats Peddle
(Hubert), Jim Mercer (Brenda), Loretta Easton (Ivan), Joanne Verre (John),
Paul Mercer (Diane), Sandie Huxter (Rodney), Bobbie O’Dell, and Greg
Mercer (Megan). Lovingly remembered by her husband, Dominic Tiano and
his mother, Maria Tiano, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and her
dog Bailey. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister-in-law,
Patti Mercer, a brother-in-law, Wilfred Oliver and by her father-in-law,
