Passed away on: 21/09/2010
Passed peacefully away on September 21, 2010 at the Central NL Regional Health Centre, after a lengthy illness. Renee Cavell Baker of Botwood. She was 69 years of age. Predeceased by parents, Cyril & Doris Callahan. Left to mourn are husband, Henry; sons, Henry Jr. (Beatrice), Glen, Brian (Stine), Sheldon (Lisa); and daughter, Cynthia (Leo). Also leaving to mourn sisters, Sonja Curlew & Pauline Callahan; brother, Boris Callahan; grandchildren, Sioban, Stacie, Karen, Sarah, Stephanie, Matthew, Steven, Olivia; great-grandchildren, Abby, Camden, Heidi; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Calvin Collins conducted funeral services at the Salvation Army Citadel in Botwood on Friday September 24, 2010. Internment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Botwood. Pallbearers were Henry Jr., Brian, Glen, Sheldon, Steven, and Walter Alcock.

BLAKE, Garfield

It is with sadness that the families of the late Garfield T. Blake announce his passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre, aged 89. He is predeceased by his son, Mervin; grandchild, Kelly, and a number of brothers and sisters. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his family, Mable(Nelson,deceased) Margie (Martin), Archie (Myrtis), Amy (Eddie), Willis (Yvvone), Lewis (Kathleen), Shirley (Rod), Daisy (Bryan), Calvin, Wilford (Helen), Leonard (Florence), Larry (Brenda), Brian (Sylvia), and Terry (Sharon); 38 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Visitation took place Monday September 6, 2010 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm from Botwood Funeral Home. The funeral service took place Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 2 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Peterview, NL with Major William and Trixie Kean. The interment followed at The Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry, Willis, Brian, Wilfred, Lewis, Archie, Larry and Dwayne. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Botwood Funeral Home

BOUZANE. Albert (Bert)

Albert (Bert) George Bouzane

Passed away peacefully on Sept. 16, 2010 Albert (Bert) George Bouzane at St. Catherines, ON., at age 91. Bert was a WWII veteran of the RAF and a Kiwanis member. He was predeceased by wife Rita; father and mother Stephen and Mary Bouzane; brother, Joseph Bouzane; sisters, Marie Bouzane, Mary Downton and Catherine Davis. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are, wife, Hilda; brother, Don (Murial) Bouzane, Hailybury, ON; sister, Geraldine Hennessey, Sarnia, ON; sister-in-law, Kate Bouzane, Bishop's Falls, NL, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Father Eugene Morris conducted the funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, Bishop's Falls on Oct. 25, 2010. Interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bishop's Falls. Pallbearer was Terry Bouzane. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop's Falls.

BUDGELL, Robert Freeman
September 20, 1943 - September 10, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Budgell (Bob), of Moreton's Harbour, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, after a seventeen month battle with lung cancer, which he fought with courage, dignity and humor, to the very end. Born in Bishop's Falls, NL, Bob joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment at the age of 16, and at 17, left to pursue a career in the Canadian Armed Forces. In 1960 he enrolled in the QOR (Queen's Own Rifles) of Canada, and transferred to PPCLI (Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry) in 1967. During the next 25 years, Bob's career took him to many parts of Canada, U.S.A., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, with his final posting being attached to the RNR in Grand Falls-Windsor. Upon retirement from the CAF, Bob worked with the R.C.M.P. in Grand Falls-Windsor and was an avid volunteer in Community activities.
He was the first "Commander" of the Red Cross Annual Fundraiser MASH, a member of the Grand Falls-Windsor Lions Club, Northcliff Drama Club, the Children's Wish Foundation and worked with special needs Children. In 1989, Bob began the move to Moreton's Harbour, building his retirement dream home, and enjoying his gardening, boating and ski-dooing. He also continued his volunteer service by organizing fund raisers for the Bridgeport and Area Kinsman Club, and also with the Newfoundland Club of Victoria, where he and Barbara resided for several winters. When Barbara retired in 1999, they travelled extensively throughout North America, driving across the U.S. eight times and spending the last 4 winters in Texas. Besides his outdoor activities, Bob loved gourmet cooking, hosting dinner parties, barbeques, and his usual "Friday evenings" with "music and friends."
Bob is predeceased by parents Phoebe and Stewart; brothers Philip and Hedley; sister Rhoda; son Eric (at the age of 21); brother-in-law Cyril Pitcher; mother-in-law Marie Bennett. Left to celebrate his life with loving memories are wife Barbara (Bennett), daughter Roslyn (Thomas Heslop), grandchildren Liam and Phoebe Chang. Along with brothers Wally, Gerald (Beverly Lemoine) and Cyril; sisters Leona (Jack Skinner), Iris, Beulah, Doreen, Lynn (Ray Keating) and Paulette; sister-in-law June Budgell, and their families; father-in-law Ross Bennett, Barbara's siblings- Bill (Gladys), Tony (Brenda), Bonnie (Jamie Schwartz), Sherry Lee (Kerry Thorne) and their families. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and wonderful friends in Grand Falls-Windsor, Moreton's Harbour, Victoria, B.C., and just about every other place Bob visited, as he touched so many lives. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mike Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes in Grand Falls-Windsor. As Bob wished, cremation has taken place. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Grand Falls-Windsor Cancer Clinic

CRITCH, Carol Ann
Passed away in: Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada
Passed away on: 18/09/2010
Passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 18, 2010 Carol Ann Critch at age 58. Carol was the 2nd child of Francis Critch and Sadie (Warford) Critch. Carol moved to Ontario in 1969 where she lived and worked for 34 years. Carol recently retired and moved to Thunder Bay. She was just starting to enjoy the next chapter of her life. Carol is survived by eight sisters: Earleine (Paul) Snow, Linda (Jim) McGuigan, Judy (George) Etheridge, Debbie (Tony) Carella, Ruth, Lisa, Tammie (John), Vicki (Doug) and three brothers: Randy, Robert (Gertrude), and Raymond (Tammie). Also a large circle of family and friends. Carol was predeceased by her father Francis in 2006 and her mother Sadie in 2007. Cremation has taken place and a private service will take place a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. On line condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com

GOODYEAR, Dorothy Emma
1916 - 2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Emma Goodyear of Grand Falls-Windsor announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center. She was predeceased by husband Thomas her parents Enos and Dulcie Rideout of Valley Pond, her brother John, sisters Rachel, Jessie and Beatrice. Left to mourn are her son John and daughter-in-law Arlene. A large number of nieces and nephews, a large circle of friends and her very good friend Rose Benoit. Dorothy sang in many choirs. She was a member of the 50+ Club of Grand Falls-Windsor. She also volunteered at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center Carmelite House. She worked many years in Toronto and Newfoundland as a LPN. Reverend Donna Hann of the Grand Falls-Windsor United Church conducted the service. Pallbearers were Vince Christian, Ray Penny, Eugene Osmond, Dick Rendell, Lester Rideout, and Don Goodyear. Internment was at the United Church Cemetery at Grand Falls-Windsor. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Mike Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes in Grand Falls-Windsor. MUGGERIDGE, Anne

MUGGERIDGE, Anne (nee Roche)
- Called to God in her 75th year Sept. 14, 2010. Born in Corner Brook, NL. Anne entered the convent of the Presentation Sisters at St. John's at the age of 15. She left the convent at 18 to teach school and then attend Memorial University. Married to John Muggeridge in 1960, her husband of 45 years until his death in 2005. She wrote two books on the Post Vatican II Church, The Gates of Hell and The Desolate City and many articles. With passion and sense of humour, Anne tirelessly defended the Catholic faith in the public square and helped to bring many people into the Church, including her father-in-law Malcolm Muggeridge. Together, John and Anne led the efforts to bring back their beloved traditional Latin Mass, founding the Latin Mass community in St. Catharines - all the while being a wonderful mother and wife. Beloved mother of John, Charles, Peter, Matthew and Rosalind, sister of Edward and Grandmother of 21 grandchildren in Canada and the U.S. Sung Tridentine Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Toronto on Sept. 18, 2010.

SHEPPARD, George

It is with sadness that the families of the late George Weldon Sheppard announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, aged 75. He is predeceased by his parents, Noah and Clara Sheppard. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are: sons, Bryon (Lisa) of Nova Scotia, Kevin (Jill) of Ontario, Dwayne (Kim) of Ontario; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Jenna, Scott, Erica, and Zachery; brothers, Albert (Ruby), John (Joyce), Roger (Marilyn); sisters, Francis (Roland) Downton, Pearl (Bert) Moore, Margaret (Harvey) Mayot; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. WHIFFEN, Francis

Passed away on September 14, 2010 at the Central NL Regional Health Centre, Francis Leo Whiffen of Grand Falls-Windsor. He was 56 years of age. Predeceased by parents, Martin & Vivian; brothers, Gerard, and Martin John Whiffen. Left to mourn are wife, Linda; sisters, Verna (Tom) Walsh, Nancy (Danny) Devine, Lucy Whiffen (Sam), Veronica; brothers, Kevin, Adrian (Charlotte), Mark (Jackie); and a circle of other relatives and friends. Father William Houlahan conducted funeral services at St. Joseph's Parish, Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday September 17, 2010. Interment followed at the St. Joseph's R.C. Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Whiffen, Adrian Whiffen, Mark Whiffen, Jim Whiffen, Danny Devine, & Martin Whiffen.
