CHAISSON, Kathleen Rita
February 17, 1923 - February 6, 2007

Passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 Kathleen Rita Chaisson of Searston at the age of 83 years. Born at Searston she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (nee Downey) Curnew. She was also predeceased by her husband, Gerard Chaisson; sons, Douglas and Vincent; brother, Michael Curnew; sisters, Elizabeth Hiscock and Mary Hiscock; grandsons, Kevin Doucette and Jamie Lushman. Left with fond and precious memories her sons, Gordon (Cynthia), David and Leonard; daughters, Bernadette (Walter) of Tompkins, Elizabeth (Ron) of Tompkins, Helen of Searston, Rita of Kitchener, Ontario, and Cathy (Melvin) of Doyles; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Catherine Gale, Rita MacDonald, Theresa Barany and Marg Chaisson; step-mother-in-law, Mary Chaisson and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church Upper Ferry. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday, February 10th, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, officiated by Father Lee Lainey. Interment followed at Mount St. Thomas Roman Catholic Cemetery in Great Codroy. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

SHORT, Wesley Isaac
November 15, 1938 - February 6, 2007

Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 Wesley Isaac Short at the age of 68 years. Born at Port aux Basques, he was the son of the late Thomas and Blanche (nee Kettle) Short. He was also predeceased by his step-mother, Maude Short; and brothers, Clifford Gaulton and Stewart Gaulton. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Marina of 44 years marriage; and daughter, Jackie (Derek) Sheaves of Regina, SK; sisters, Norma (John) Murphy, Joan (Bert) LeRiche, Joyce (Matt) Young, Doreen (Ernest) Dowding, Shirley White (Charlie Pynn), Viola (Jordan) Elms, Maisie (George) Osmond, Julia (Larry) Kempton and Elsie (William) McNeil; brothers, Norman (Julia) Short, Nelson (Kettle) Short and Llewelyn Short (Lynn); mother-in-law, Maude Lomond; sisters-in-law, Nina (John) Lomond, Effie Morris and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place Friday, February 9th, 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay officiated by Rev. Evelyn Smith. Interment followed at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Trans Canada Highway. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

KEEPING, Terrance
December 19, 1954 - February 7, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Terrance Keeping of Margaree announce his passing on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center at the age of 52 years. Terrance was predeceased by his father, Wilson; and brother Kent. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Louise (nee Hodder) of 32 years marriage; two children, Tracy (Mike Baggs) of Burnt Islands, Terry (Tiffany Green) of Margaree; two grandchildren, Michael and Abigail Baggs; mother, Corella Keeping of Burnt Islands; brothers and sisters, George (Jacqueline) Keeping, Roland (Dora) Keeping, Jerome (Theresa May) Keeping, Gordon (Charlene) Keeping, Wilson (Shelia) Keeping, Dana Keeping, Lorraine (Gerald) Munden all of Burnt Islands, Betty (Gordon) Lillington of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday at St. Augustine's Anglican Church Margaree. Funeral services took place on Saturday February 10, 2007 at 2 p.m. at St. Augustine's Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

FUDGE, Albert
Dec. 24, 1921 - Feb. 9, 2007

Passed away peacefully at the Calder Health Care Centre on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, Albert Fudge at the age of 85 years. Born at Pass Island, he was the son of the late Philip and Amelia Fudge. He also was predeceased by his brothers, James and Arthur; and sister, Rosanna King; brothers-in-law, George King, Eric, Lawrence and Joseph Loveless; sisters-in-law, Emma and Martha Loveless. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Sadie of 53 years marriage; three daughters, Cora (Lewis Vardy) of Red Deer, AB, Meta (Roland Skinner) and Daisy (Harvey Hatcher) of Ramea, NL; two granddaughters, Joni (Greg Klammer) of Red Deer, AB and Stephanie Hatcher of Ramea; three grandsons, Corey Vardy (Dora) of Red Deer, AB, Stephen Hatcher and Ian Skinner of Ramea; two great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Brooklyn of Red Deer, AB; two sisters-in-law, Olive White of St. John's, NL and Florence Loveless of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay; one brother-in-law, Clayton Loveless (Hilda) of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay; a large circle of nephews and nieces and many friends. Funeral services took place on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Boniface Anglican Church, officiated by Rev. George Childs. Interment followed at St. Boniface Anglican Cemetery at Ramea. Funeral arrangements in the care of Fillatre's Funeral Home, 886-2900.

OSMOND, (Poppy) Cyril
July 5, 1917 - February 14, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cyril Osmond announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 89 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Bessie Irene Osmond (nee Hinks) of 65 years on October 25, 2002; also by his three brothers, four sisters, six grandchildren and four sons-in-law. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his children, James (Arthena) Yellowknife, NWT, Hughie (Loretta) Yellowknife, NWT, Wayne (Edith) Rose Blanche, Kevin (Viola) Yellowknife, NWT, Shirley Macinnis Corner Brook, NL, Joan Meade (Charlie) North Bay, ON, Sabina Allen Port aux Basques, Gladys Meade (Ephriam) Codroy Valley, Deanna Pike (Earl) Port aux Basques, Mary Seaward (Alex) Port aux Basques, Brenda Pieroway (Kenneth) Barrie, ON, Kathleen Lomond (Jordan) Dartmouth, NS, Debbie Parsons (Forbes) LeDuc, AB, Sylvia Port aux Basques and Nancy Anderson (Francis) of Bradford, ON; 42 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Bertoline (Harold) of Peru Illinois, USA; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many, many long time friends. Visitation took place on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Saturday, February 17, 2 p.m. at St. James' Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Canon Hugh Fudge. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.
Poppy Cyril was a very kind, loving man who was well known and well loved by all who were fortunate enough to have had such a special man as a part of their lives. His kindness, generosity and love of life will remain in all our hearts forever.

KETTLE, Nora Helen
June 15, 1949 - February 15, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nora Helen Kettle announce her passing on Thursday February 15, 2007 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 57 years. Born at Port aux Basques she was the daughter of the late James and Alice Maud (nee Lomond) Gillam. She was also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Eva and Charles Kettle; brother, Eric Gillam; brothers-in-law, Clayton Lomond, Gerald Dingwell, Charles Matthews and Alfred Dowding. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her husband, Chesley of 34 years marriage; loving daughter, Angela (Kris Chaulk); sisters, Susie Matthews, Ada Dingwell, Kathleen LeRiche (Wilfred), Blanche Pike (Eugene), Christine Lomond all of Port aux Basques, Joseph Dowding of Prince Rupert, BC, and Eva Loder (Dennis) of Mount Pearl; brother, Vincent Gillam (Darlene) of Port aux Basques; sister-in-law, Florence Walsh (Frank) of Goose Bay; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends, including her co-workers from the hospital where she worked in the dietary department for many years until her retirement. Visitation took place on Friday from 7-9 p.m., Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Monday, February 19th, 2007, 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay officiated by Rev. Evelyn Smith. Interment followed at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Trans Canada Highway Port aux Basques. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

HAMMOND, Rose
Doyles, NL
Oct. 15, 1941 - Feb. 22, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rose Hammond announce her passing on Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Medical Centre, at the age of 65 years. Leaving to mourn her children: Beverly (Scott) Hicks, Codroy Valley, Belinda (Lew) Hewlin, Dartmouth, Gary (Paula) Hammond, Middle Sackville, Paula (Ed) Buckle, Lower Sackville; grandchildren: Samantha, Tara, Jillian, Luke, Emily and Hannah; brother Joseph (Jeanette) Poirier; sisters: Anne Bennett (Bob Rose), Agnes Poirier (Rob Jardine), Pauline Patten (Frank Grechmal), Fran Read (Ken Hale); sisters-in-law: Betty Poirier, Mona Poirier, Anne Poirier, Bea Poirier and Bertha (Alfred Gillis), along with many special nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by husband Leo; parents Louis and Beatrice Poirier; brothers: Fred (Margarette), Paul (Margaret), Mike, Bill, Leo, Bernie and sister Lucy. Friends visited St. Anne's Church in Upper Ferry on Saturday evening and Sunday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., from where the Funeral Service was held on Monday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Lainey officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the St. Thomas Cemetery Fund or the Codroy Valley Come Home Year Committee. June 5, 1954 - February 26, 2007

It is with great sadness that the family of Sidney Battiste announce his sudden passing on Saturday, February 24th, 2007 in the United States, at the age of 52 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his wife Ethel Battiste (nee Stroud); son Troy Battiste; daughter Tammy Farrell; grandchildren: Dawson and Noah Farrell; son-in-law Derrick Farrell; daughter-in-law Amanda Vanblitterswyk; mother Maggie Battiste; brothers & sisters: Bruce (Ruby) Battiste, Paul (Crystal) Battiste, Guy (Paula) Battiste, Michael (Shelley), Barbara Mesa, Elaine (Ken) Fraser, Julia (Rob) Ingram and Kimberly Battiste; brothers & sisters-in-law: Gary (Nancy) Taylor, Hartley (Shirleyann) Taylor, Kay (Garland) Chant, Wavey (Eldon) Short and Madeline (Darren) Munden; aunts & uncles: Theresa Francis, Eva (Bill) Dollimount, Jessie Skinner, Florence Skinner, Elizabeth Battiste, Barbara Battiste, Regis Battiste, Melvin (Mary) Skinner, Fred (Pauline) Skinner and Sam (Sharon) Skinner, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Battiste; mother-in-law Dorothy Taylor and father-in-law Leslie Taylor. Visitation was held at St. Michael's & All Angels Anglican Church in Rose Blanche on Saturday, March 3rd between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 4th from 10:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m., from where the Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 5th at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Ken Abbott. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery in Margaree. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to Ethel Battiste.
