It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Allen announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre on January 14 at the age of 89 years. George was the son of the late Wilfred and Francis (nee Matthews) Allen. He was also predeceased by his brothers Wilfred, Edgar and Percy, sisters Barbara and Vera, brothers-in-law Raymond, and Absolom, and sisters-in-law Lillian and Margaret. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Ethel of 66 years, loving father of Dexter (Joy) Allen Seal Cove Baie Verte NL, Gregory (Debbie) Allen Gardner Mines NS and Valerie Allen Port aux Basques NL, proud grandfather of Jonathan (Tanya), Vanessa (Derrick), Travis and Amanda and great grandfather of Madison, Marcus, Sara and Alexis. It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Thomas Cornish announces his passing on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 84 years. John was the son of the late James and Gladys Cornish. He was predeceased by his great granddaughter Cynthia Marie Jillett, sister Katie (Ralph) Keeping and brother-in-law Andy Webb. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories, his loving and devoted wife, Irene, of 63 years; children James (Marilyn) Gander, NL; Rosalie (David) Jillett O'Regan's, NL; Jane (Serge) Tremblay Ottawa, ON. January 24, 1948 - January 24, 2017

Passed peacefully away at his residence in Grand Bay on January 24, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer, Clarence Dowding aged 69 years. Clarence is predeceased by his father Alfred in 1986 and his mother Josephine in 2013, sister in law Annette Kettle (Alvin), brother in law Amos Collier. He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his devoted wife Mary (nee Mullins) of 50 years, proud father of sons Scott (Kimberley) Doyles, and Paul (Lisa) Grand Falls, and daughter Paula (Rene) Arenas of Geismar Louisiana, two special granddaughters Tonya Dowding of San Franciso, CA, and Sophia Arenas of Geismar Louisana, brother in law Bill Mullins (Ferne) of Dartmouth NS, sisters in law; Mona Collier of Codroy, Elsie Parsons (Arch) of Kingston ON and his furry buddies Bear, Murphy and Duke. As we reflect back on our many precious memories of you, our hearts are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all Sandra Lynn Harvey (nee Anderson) at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center on Thursday January 19, at the age of 70 years. Sandra was born one of nine daughters to the late Israel and Marie Anderson. She was also predeceased by her mother and father in law Albert and Hannah Harvey, brothers in law; Wilfred Ricketts, Cornelius (Leah) Harvey, Leslie (Mary Jane) Harvey, Eldon Harvey, John Harvey and sister in law Winnie Harvey. Leaving to mourn with many loving memories, her devoted husband Edward (Ned) Harvey of 51 years. Proud mother of Glenda Hatcher (John MacDonald) and his son John Jr (Jennifer) and their baby Karlee, Tracy (Melvin) Enwood. The biggest and most supportive hockey loving nan and number one fan of her two special grandsons Shane Hatcher and Dylan Enwood, they were the apple of Nan's eye and made her life complete. She will forever remain in the hearts of her sisters with whom she shared a special bond; Jessie Osmond (Bert), Bernice Keeping (George), Winifred Parsons (Henry), Joyce Huelin (Dorman), Linda Harvey (Rob), Eileen Ricketts, Viola Bragg (Jerome), Jane Anderson (Stewart). She will also be sadly missed by her brothers in law Albert Harvey (Evelyn), Jim Harvey, sisters in law Joan Harvey, Beatrice Jubb and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Sandra was a woman of few words but her kindred spirit and beautiful smile would light up any room, she loved her family and friends and always had a warm hug for everyone. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jane Heron announces her passing at her residence in Harbour Le Cou on Wednesday January 18 at the age of 87 years. Born in Rose Blanche, Jane was the daughter of the late John and Abigail (nee Edwards) Clarke. She was also predeceased by her husband Reginald Heron, grandson Billy Bond, son in law Stanley Bond. Brothers; Keltie Clarke, Russell Clarke (Edith), George Clarke, Henry (Louise) Clarke, Bert (Mary) Clarke, sisters Mamie (Arthur) Dolomount, Theresa (Thomas) Strickland, Maud (Simeon) Billard and brother in law Bill Hardy. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her only daughter Mamie Bond with whom she resided in Harbour Le Cou, granddaughter Lorraine Bond Halifax NS, great grandchildren Brady and Kierra. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marie Herritt announces her passing, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 16 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center, at the age of 74 years. Born in Port aux Basques, Marie was the daughter of the late William and Jessie (nee Osmond) Seymour. She was also predeceased by her sister Winifred, mother and father-in-law: Harriett and George Herritt, sisters in law: Emily Cox (Robert), Hilda Seymour, Sarah Seymour and brother-in-law, Maxwell Spicer. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories, her devoted husband Clyde of 55 years. Proud mother of Marina Parsons (Randy) Port aux Basques, George Herritt (Geraldine) Loch Lomond, Beverly Hardy (Roger) Port aux Basques. KENDELL, Charles Warren
1952-2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Charlie (Junior) on January 18th, in the peaceful surroundings of the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born in Woodville, Codroy Valley on August 21st, 1952, he was the son of the late Charles and Vera Kendell.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy, and their three children Kris (Lucie), Kirk (Ashley), and Emily (Oliver). Charlie was Poppy to four beautiful grandchildren; Julia, Tyler, Jack, and Harper. Charlie is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Judy (Gerry), Dennis (Maureen), Donald (Pearl), Nancy (Bob), and Bonnie (Trent), and nieces and nephews.
Charlie was a true Newfoundlander by any definition, returning annually to the Codroy Valley. He had a personality larger than life, characterized by his handsome and infectious smile. He brought much joy to everyone through his passion for music, nature, and photography. Next to his family his greatest love was music, his guitar was never far from reach. Charlie is renowned to folk festival crowds throughout the Maritimes and was in his element when playing and singing with friends and family. He was a long time employee and member of the Michelin family, retiring in 2011 after 31 memorable years.
Charlie had the rare and special gift of being able to brighten every room he entered. He was loved by all and will be missed greatly, but never forgotten.
Family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care Charlie received from the nurses and doctors of Palliative Care and a special thanks to our family doctor, Dr. G. Kirk. Charlie's family will always remember the abundant support of their wonderful neighbors on Sharmac Drive and Pictou County friends.
In keeping with Charlie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at H.W. Angus Funeral Home Saturday, January 21st, from 1pm to 3:30pm; service to follow at 4 pm in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel. Interment of ashes will take place in Newfoundland the coming summer.
Charlie's request is no flowers. Donations in his memory can be made to the Palliative Care and/or Chemotherapy Department of the Aberdeen Hospital. Charlie's message to us all is to "Smile and Make a Gesture of Kindness".

It is with great sadness the family of the late Stanley Lawrence announces his sudden passing at his residence on January 14 at the age of 61 years. It is with saddened hearts that the family of the late Eileen Anne (nee O'Quinn) MacIsaac announces her sudden passing on Thursday January 19, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 61 years. Born in Millville, Eileen was the daughter of the late George and Genevieve O'Quinn. She was also predeceased by her husband Tony in 2010, brothers; Cyril, and Charlie, sisters; Bride Chaisson, and Rose O'Quinn, Mary O'Quinn, father and mother in law Daniel and Veronica MacIsaac. Eileen will be sadly missed and forever loved by her children; Chantelle MacIsaac of Doyles, Samantha MacIsaac (Dave) of Truro NS, Brian MacIsaac of Doyles, her very special grandchildren Luke and Layla whom she adored. Passed peacefully away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on January 23, Ruth Dora Mahar, aged 81 years of Sonora NS. Born in Port aux Basques, Ruth was the daughter of the late John and Susanna Walters. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Leonard of 60 years, daughter Katherine (Doug) Kaiser, son Terry and daughter Darlene, mother and father-in-law Katherine and Gordon Mahar along with several brother and sisters-in-law. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories daughter Linda Christina Bingley, sons John (Cindy), Lennie Jr. (Ruth), and Brian (Jennifer), sisters Vera (Kyrle) Osmond, Naomi (Larry) Warford and sister-in-law Virginia (Vernon) Jack, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. In keeping with Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Calvary Faith Church in Sonora NS on Monday January 30 from 7-8 pm with funeral service to take follow on January 31, 2 pm with reception to follow. PROSSER, Dorothy
Born: June 7th, 1926
Passed on: January 20th, 2017

It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Lorena (aunt Dot) Prosser announces her passing on Friday January 20, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Aunt Dot didn't just cherish her family, her love grew beautifully each year in her garden. It was always one of her greatest possessions. If you didn't see her in her flowers, then it was stitched by hand in one of her many quilts. The two things she always put so much love into and never once asking for its love in return. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories her only son Richard (Gertie), proud grandmother of John, Leah (Shane) Stares. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters Dallas Turner Hanovers Mass USA, Shirley Osmond, Marilyn Bragg (Will Osmond) all of Port aux Basques and many nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Bernard Prosser in 2005, brothers; Christopher Bragg (Ester), George Bragg (Mary), William Bragg (Mildred), brothers in law; Enoch Prosser (Leah), Charles Prosser (Julia), Canon Wallace Prosser (Gadys), Jack Prosser (June), Frank Prosser (Irene), Samuel Prosser (Olive), George Osmond and Elwood Turner. Born in Burnt Islands, Lydia was the daughter of the late Ernest and Classie Harris. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law James Prosser, nephew Donnie Harris and mother and father-in-law George and Phyllis Prosser. She leaves to mourn with a lifetime of memories her loving and devoted husband Charles of 44 years, loving mother of Charlene (Eric) Chislett and Godfrey Prosser all of Burnt Islands, her three precious grandchildren Madison, Desmond and Landon who were the apples of her eye, her dog Penny and cat Storm whom she loved dearly. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold "Max" Strickland announces his passing on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 91. Born in North Bay, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Fanny (Taylor) Strickland. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Hilda, of 69 years, son, Norman(Myrtle) Strickland, Port-aux-Basques, daughters, May Francis, Port-aux-Basques, Ruby (Chris) Claire, Halifax, NS, daughters-in-law, Gladys and Bertha, sisters, Shirley Burgess, Chatham, ON, Elsie(Don) Oram, Thunder Bay, ON, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, sister-in-law Violet Taylor, as well a large circle of nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by sons, Andrew and James, son-in-law Chelsey Francis, sister Ruby, brothers-in-law Eric Strickland and Dave Burgess. The family will be receiving family and friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Port-aux-Basques on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m from Wesley United Church with Rev. VOUTIER, FLOYD DOUGLAS
October 20, 1957 - January 21, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Floyd Voutier announces his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on January 21, 2017 at the age of 59 years. Floyd leaves behind loving children Karen and Son-in-law Dan Galasso, grand-daughters Hannah, Hailey & Sofia and his son Daniel Voutier and daughter-in-law Alexis Westbrook, grand-dog Mavis whom all loved him dearly. Parents Clyde and Dulcie (nee Clark) Voutier, brothers Keltie Voutier, sister-in-law Betty Voutier and Bradley, sister-in-law Glenys and sister Penny and brother-in-law Larry Witten. He leaves to mourn his extended family and a large circle of many friends who have made this difficult time easier to bear because of your presence, care and compassion. Floyd was pursuing his dream in Codroy Valley and working aboard the boats. Music and laughter were always guaranteed with the wee feller. Floyd made friends easily, and loved to tell his jokes and stories - he had a nickname for everyone, and many made up songs that were guaranteed to be too inappropriate to repeat. Floyd had his own signature style, he took fashion cues from no one. His every day look was all his own, a plain button up shirt, flannel jacket, paired with a baseball cap. Floyd was loved by many, he was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all. In keeping with Floyd's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation. A celebration of Floyd's life will take place on May 27, 2017 with funeral service time to be announced in Port Aux Basque at East Haven Funeral Home.
