SHORT, Stephen Trevor
It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family of Stephen Short announce his sudden passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on March 1, 2005, in his 30th year. He leaves to mourn his common-law spouse, Kelly Hatcher; his father and step-mother, George and Alice Short; his brother, Colin (Tina) and nephew, Daniel; and his grandparents, William and Audrey Bond, all of Port aux Basques. Also mourning are members of the Hatcher family, Bill and Flossie of Rose Blanche, Kimberly James (Wallace, Devon and Dustin) of Burnt Islands, Dion (Delores and Emily) of Calgary, AB, and Durwin (Trina) of Paradise. Stephen was predeceased by his grandfather, Michael Pope; brother, Craig; grandparents, Lewis and Mabel Short; and his mother, Linda (Pope). He will be sadly missed by a large circle of relatives and friends, especially the students and staff of St. James' Elementary School. He rested at East Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service took place at St. James' Anglican Church on Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Hugh Fudge and the Rev. Evelyn Smith officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery at Barachois Hill. Donations in Stephen's memory may be made to an organization of one's choice.

WALTERS, Dora Jane
Passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, Dora Jane Walters in her 94th year. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Sarah Warren; brothers, John, Garland, Wilson, and Matthew; and by her first husband, Harry Sibbley; and second husband, Garfield Walters. She leaves to mourn her niece Naomi and her husband, Larry Warford with whom she resided; sister, Susie Walters, Port aux Basques, and brother, Isaac (Edith) Warren, Louisburg, NS, Wallace (Dot) Waters, Bonne Bay, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4 at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. from St. James' Anglican Church in Channel with Rev. Hugh Fudge officiating. Interment followed in St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques 695-2300.

PEARCE, Wilson John
1940 - 2005

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilson John Pearce announce his passing on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Bessie; two sons, Junior (Marilyn), Port aux Basques, Darren (Mildred), Port aux Basques, two daughters, Goldie (Bob) Blackmore, Port aux Basques and Vilesa (Duane) Bragg, Corner Brook; six grandchildren; three brothers, Jerome (Joan), Cape Ray, Clayton (Chick), Ontario, and Lorne (Marilyn), Cape Ray; three sisters, Agnes (George) Lomond, Port aux Basques, Geraldine (Gord) Osmond, Port aux Basques, and Ivy (Paul) Tavenor, Moncton. Also by his second family in Bay d'Espoir and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, including his fishermen friends and co-workers at Terra Transport. He was predeceased by one daughter, Elaine in 1986; parents, John and Rose; as well as by his four sisters, Viola, Vivian, Madonna and Marie; and brothers, Max and Leonard. Visitation took place on Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4 at East Haven Funeral Home in Port aux Basques. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 12 noon from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Grand Bay with Rev. Evelyn Smith officiating. Interment followed in St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques 695-2300.

MUNDEN, Maria
Dec. 1915 - March 2005

Passed peacefully away on Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre, Maria Munden of Rose Blanche, age 89 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Hezikah and Roseanna (Strickland) Parsons; and by her husband, Edward in May 1988; sisters, Annie Parsons, and Carrie Styles; and by her brothers, Albert, Eric, Henry, and Thomas. Left with fond and precious memories are her children, Junior (Melida), Rose Blanche, Georgina (Wilson) Butler, Glace Bay, NS, Martha (James) Styles, Rose Blanche, Johnny, Rose Blanche, Susie (Norman) Seymour, Port aux Basques, Arthur (Diana) Corner Brook, Harry (Tammy) Rose Blanche, Albert (Lena) Rose Blanche, and Wilfred (Lori), Rose Blanche; also by her sisters, Elizabeth Parsons, Rose Blanche, and Violet Turner, Glace Bay, NS; and by her brothers, George Robert (Minnie) Parsons, and Ralph (Ada) Parsons, Rose Blanche, and her sisters-in-law; Dorothy Parsons, Grace Parsons, and Margaret Parsons, all of Rose Blanche, and by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, as well as by a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 and 9 at St. Michael's Anglican Church in Rose Blanche from where the funeral services was held on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Hubert Vallis officiating. Interment followed in Hillside Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques 695-2300.

MARKS, (Bun) Arthur
Suddenly at his home in Cape Ray on March 24, 2005 at age of 76 years. Lighthouse keeper and businessman. As he would have wished, he was doing "a job" until the end. Predeceased by his wife, Mary (nee Simms); infant son, Craig; and granddaughter, Hayley. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Beverley (Ross Durnford) of Port aux Basques and Meridith (Peter Bruneau) of Ottawa; and his cherished grandson, Benjamin. He is survived by his siblings, Mary Marks-Mitchell of St. John's, Angie Palchuck (late Russell) of Cambridge, Ont., Jack (Ruth) of Corner Brook, Lew (Bernice) of Upper Ferry and Frank (Helen) of London, Ont. Bun will also be remembered by a broad circle of friends, young and old around Codroy, Cape Ray and Port aux Basques. Family and friends paid their respects at East Haven Funeral Home, Grand Bay from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. A service to celebrate Bun's life was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Cape Ray. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Foundation. Condolences, tributes or donations may be made at East Haven Funeral Home.

NORTHCOTT, Olive Jane
1929-2005

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Monday, March 28, 2005, Olive Jane Northcott at the age of 76 years. Born at Margaree, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Emily Billard. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Freeman of 56 years of marriage; and five loving children, Judy (John) Seymour, Joyce (Wayne) Clevett of Margaree, Melvin (Gail) of Port aux Basques, Brian (Marilyn) of Margaree, Maisie (Pat) Whetmore of Beaverbank, NS; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Walters of Fox Roost, Ruby (Marvin) Currie of Margaree; brothers, Henry (Phyllis) Billard, Cyril (Audrey) Billard, Roland Billard, all of Margaree; sisters-in-law, Effie Billard of Margaree, Flora Crewe of Ramea, Gladys (Walter) Osmond of Port aux Basques; brother-in-law, Sam (Susan) Northcott of Margaree; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Scott Seymour; sisters-in-law, Faith (Garfield) Carroll, Lillian (Percy) Rossiter; brothers-in-law, Gus Walters, Ward Crewe and Gabe Billard. Visitation took place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at St. Augustine's Church, Margaree. Funeral services took place on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Augustine's Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Hubert Vallis. Interment followed at St. Augustine's Cemetery, Margaree. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.

DOUCETTE, Kevin
Age 32

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kevin Doucette announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on March 29, 2005 at the age of 32. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his parents, Walter and Bernadette (Chaisson) Doucet of Tompkins; brother, Blair of Benoit's Cove; grandmother, Kathleen Chaisson of Searston; great-grandmother, Mary Chassion of Port aux Basques; four uncles, eight aunts and their families; special friends and caregivers Irving and Fran Campbell of Labrador, Ray and Rose Power of Benoit's Cove and Edward and Phyllis White of John's Beach. He is predeceased by grandfather, Gerald Chassion; and grandparents, Walter Senior and Gertrude (MacNeil) Doucet, two uncles and one aunt. Cremation took place from Humber Valley Crematorium. Interment followed on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 1 p.m. from Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Doyles, with Father Lee Lainey officiating. MUNDEN, Jane Leah
1917-2005

Passed away at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Wednesday March 30, 2005 Jane Leah Munden at the age of 88 years. Formerly of Burnt Islands she was the daughter of the late Agnes and George Hiscock. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1954. Leaving to mourn four loving children, Rosemary (Roy) Harris, Malvina Bryan, Ross (Susie) Munden, Kathleen (Gerald) MacDonald all of Burnt Islands, 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great -grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends; sister-in-law, Mary Hiscock of Isle aux Morts, Stella Mae Keeping, Ann Munden; and brother-in-law, Ralph Munden all of Burnt Islands. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Henry Bryan; mother and father-in-law, William and Isabella Munden; sisters, Hattie (Reginald) Hatcher, Agnes (William) Harvey; brothers, Douglas and John Hiscock; sister-in-law, Hazel Munden; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Olive) Munden, Kenneth Munden, William (Margaret) Munden, Frederick Munden. Visitation took place at her daughter Kathleen's residence in Burnt Islands on Thursday and Friday. Funeral services took place on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 1 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, Burnt Islands officiated by Rev. Hubert Vallis. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. Funeral arrangements in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques, 695-2300.
