JOHN EDWARD PARSONS
Feb. 4, 1925 - May 6, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Edward Parsons announces his passing on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 84 years. Born at Montreal, John was the son of the late Arch and Leah Parsons. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lillian. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his family: loving partner, Elizabeth Carter of Codroy; sons, Arch (Elsie) Parsons, Leo (Clarys) Parsons, Roger (Lisa) Parsons all of Kingston, ON; daughters, Laura Brady and Cora (Garf) Masse, all of Kingston, ON, and Lucy (Wayne) Evans of Corner Brook; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; son-in-law, John Hilliard; and a large circle of extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on May 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. To honour John's wishes cremation took place on May 7. Funeral services took place on Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Codroy officiated by Rev. Peter Boote. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery.

JAMES ANDREWS
Sept. 25, 1923 - May 12, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Andrews announces his passing on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 85 years. Born at Francois, NL, James was the son of the late Eli and Elizabeth Andrews. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Sarah, Mary Ann, Agnes and granddaughter, Lori Michelle. He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving family: wife, Leah of 60 years marriage; his sons, Kevin (Leona) of Lewins Cove, NL, Freeman (Mabel) of Pasadena, NL; sister, Ruth of Burgeo, NL; nine grandchildren, Patrick of St. John's, NL, Loretta, Leanne both of Grand Bank, NL, Leon of Fort McMurray, AB, Florence, Tammy both of Pasadena, NL, Derek of Borden, ON, Roxann of Ramea, NL, and Freeman Jr. of Guelph, ON; 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and many friends. Visitation took place on May 12 from 7-9 p.m. and on May 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Thursday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at St. James' Anglican Church Channel officiated by Rev. Mary Ann Boote. Interment followed at St. James' Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. EMMA GENEVIEVE SHEAVES
North Sydney

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Emma Genevieve Sheaves, age 62, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Glace Bay General Hospital, Glace Bay. Born in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of Berkley Anderson of Port aux Basques and the late Mary (Taylor) Anderson. Emma was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney. Besides her father Berkley, she is survived by her four sons, Richard (Donna) Blackmore, Kenny (Judy) Sheaves, Scott Sheaves and Dwayne (Carol) Sheaves; five grandchildren, Adam, Jenna, Jordan, Samantha and Emma; one great-grandchild, Chesnea; her brothers and sisters, Lorraine (Sam) Matthews, London, Ont., Ed (Kathy) Anderson, Vancouver; Doris (Dave) Farrell, Alberta, Bert (Brenda) Anderson, Kay (Fred) Gale, Sandra (Wayne) Stacey, all of Port aux Basques, Marilyn (Vince) Pearce, Colleen (Phil) Strowbridge both of London, Ont.; brother-in-law, John (Helen) Sheaves; sisters-in-law, Myrtle (Reg) Button, Florence (Ronnie) Spencer, all of Port aux Basques. She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Sheaves in 2008 and a son, Derek. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Emma was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Matthew Wesley United Church with Rev. David Luker officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. ALBERT ROBERT OSMOND
SEPT. 25, 1943 - MAY 13, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert Robert Osmond announces his passing at his residence in Cape Ray on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the age of 65 years. Born at Middle Barachois, Albert was the son of the late John T. and Anne (nee Pearce) Osmond. Albert was also predeceased by his wife, Vera (nee Warren); mother and father-in-law, Walter and Olive (nee Short) Warren; brothers-in-law, Harvey Parsons, George Warren and George Tapp; and sisters-in-law, Susie Osmond and Shirley Osmond. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his family: daughters, Betty Lou (David Chippett), Mary Ellen (Lome Seaward) all of Cape Ray, Elaine (Glenn Gale) Port aux Basques and only son, Darren (Jennifer) Osmond, Cape Ray; grandchildren, Curtis Seaward, Patrick and Jennifer Chippett, Kimberly and Ryan Gale, Kristyn and Brennan Osmond; brothers, Harold Osmond, Gerald (Una) Osmond, Port aux Basques, George E. NELLIE ELMS
JUNE 9, 1920 - MAY 13, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nellie Elms announces her passing on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 88 years. Born at Stone's Cove, NL, Nellie was the daughter of the late George and Charity Hatch. She was also predeceased by two infant daughters; brothers, Allan Hatch, Jordan Hatch, Thomas Hatch; sister, Sadie Strickland; and son-in-law, David Lischynski. She was survived by her husband, Cecil of 69 years marriage for two days until his death on May 15. She leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories, her loving family: children, Jordan (Viola) Elms, Port aux Basques, Phyllis (Leslie) Phelan, PEI, Brian (Ruth) Elms, Port aux Basques; grandchildren, Kathy, Donna, Laura-Lee, Duane, Paul, Tracy, Brian Jr., Christopher and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Christopher, Joseph, Nathalie, Nichole, Morgan, Andrew, Nellie, Hunter and Ashton; sister, Maggie Miles, Port aux Basques; brother-in-law, Jack Elms Port aux Basques; sisters-in-law, Norma Legge, Port aux Basques, Joyce Kenner, Oklahoma, US, Minnie Hatch, Port aux Basques, special home care worker Kay Gale and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. EMILY BUCKLAND
May 14, 2009

When hello means goodbye. On May 14, 2009 at 11:27 p.m., Emily Buckland, the daughter of Trina and Lee Buckland, was born and had passed at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook. She will be forever missed by her Mom and Dad, Trina and Lee Buckland; her brother, Andrew Buckland; her sister, Victoria Buckland; grandparents, Clayton and Joan Durnford, David Buckland, and Karen Buckland; great-grandparents, Annie Buckland, Katherine Fiander and Melita Green. The sisters of Trina, Elaine Hatcher and family, Charlaine Redmond and family, the brother of Lee, Bruce Buckland (Jody) and the sister of Lee, Alexis Keeping will also sadly miss her, as well as all of the great uncles, aunts, cousins and friends of her family. Funeral arrangements were held at St. Michael's and All Angels Church in Rose Blanche on May 16, 2009 at 2 p.m., officiated by Father Nussey. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecil James Elms announces his passing on Friday, May 15, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 89 years. Born at Stone's Cove, NL, Cecil was the son of the late Alex and Stella Elms. Cecil was also predeceased by his birth mother, Mary Elms (nee Pope), two infant daughters and his loving wife, Nellie of 69 years marriage on Wednesday, May 13, 2009. MACDONALD, JOHN RUSSELL
Aug. 31, 1965 - May 23, 2009

The family of the late John Russell MacDonald regretfully announces his passing on May 23, 2009 at Waterton, Alia., at the age of 43 years, He leaves to mourn his family: mother, Doreen, stepfather, Bill and many siblings. He was predeceased by his father, Richard and sister-in-law, Rachel. Funeral services took place at the Church of the Precious Blood in St. Andrew's on June 1, officiated by Father Desmond McGrath. A memorial service was also held in Calgary, with siblings and many friends attending. John was laid to rest at St. Andrew's.
