BRAGG, Elizabeth (Bette) Rosanna
(January 19, 1946 - May 5, 2014)

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother on May 5, 2014 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook. Born in Port aux Basques, on January 19, 1946, Bette was the oldest of six children. She was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Patricia Gillam, brother in law Arthur Bragg, sisters in law Sheila Munden and Joan Bragg, and mother and father in law Nathan and Madeline Bragg. Left to mourn is her loving husband Nathan (Jr) of 47 years, two children Patti (Dana), and Vanessa (Richard) LeRiche, her four grandchildren and one great granddaughter who completely adored her - Bobbi (Loren), Morgan, Beth, Owen, and Jorja. Also left to mourn are her brothers and sisters Paul Gillam (Sandra), Lorna (Ben) Savery, David (Jocelyn) Gillam, Sharyn (Darryl) Ulrich and Derek (Paula) Gillam, and her brother and sisters in law Betty (Herb) Lee, Nelson Bragg (Bev), Philip Bragg, David Bragg, Wanda (Ivan) Clevett, Cathy (Paul) Murphy, Elaine (Geoff) Cook, Judy Bragg, and Lorne (Sylvia) Munden, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Bette had many great loves in life, first and foremost was her family. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren who gave her a lot of joy in life. Bette loved a good game of cards, any social gathering, and her greatest love was doing taxes. Bette worked at the Scotia Bank for 35 years, retiring in 1999 and then joined BCJ Tax Centre where she helped many people doing what she loved. She was an active member of the Lioness as well as the Liberal Association. Bette loved to volunteer her time and spent many hours on the Hospital Foundation as well as many other organizations. Family accepting visitors at East Haven Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 PM. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 8 at 2 p.m. at the St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Canon Hannah Dicks. GALE, Marilyn Houghton
Marilyn (Houghton) Gale
On Friday May 30th, 2014 Marilyn passed away peacefully in Prince George BC (formerly of South Branch, NFLD) with her children by her side. The wife of the late (Gerrard L Gale), beloved mother of Gerry (Anna) Tom (Yvonne) Wayne (Jen) Maureen (Shawn Beaumont) Rosemary (the late Tim Wysocki) Theresa (Perry Huiser). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Shawn Christopher and Krystal, Veronica Steven, Jim Matthew, the late Shawny, Somer Jenna and Tianna and Zach. Great grandchildren Madison Chase Cruz and Callie. Cremation has taken place, a private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
We will forever miss and love you Mom!

HARVEY, Elizabeth Jane
1958-2014

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elizabeth Jane Harvey (nee Francis) announce her passing on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at home at the age of 55 years. Born in Isle-aux-Morts, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Francis. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her devoted husband, Douglas, children: Jeremy (Sharon), Anthony (Becky), Penney (Peter) and Jennifer (Chris); grandchildren, Christina, Brady, Cassie, Kaylee, Mason, Kaden, Aden and Jack; brothers and sisters, Dorman (Eileen) Francis, Loretta Delorey, George (Rose) Franics, Clayton (Anetha) Francis, Goward (May) Francis, Samuel (Jacqueline), Karen (John) Neil and Garfield; brothers and sisters- in- law, Evelyn (Albert) Harvey, Ephriam (Sabrina) Harvey, Gary (Ellen) Harvey, Liz Harvey, Roger (Sylvia) Harvey, Rex (Trudy) Harvey, Isabell (Lockland) Keeping and Louise Harvey. She was predeceased by brother-in-laws, Thomas Delorey, Bill Harvey and Ross Harvey. The family received friends at the Holy Spirit Church in Isle Aux Morts on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday from where the Funeral Service took place on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Maryrose Colbourne. Donations may be made to the family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Fillatre's Funeral Home. KEEPING, Clarence
(September 14, 1952 - May 13, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clarence Keeping announces his passing at the Health Science Center, St. John's at the age of 61 years. Born at Burnt Islands, Clarence was the son of the late William and Clara (nee Neil) Keeping. He was also predeceased by daughter Tanya Keeping, brother Austin Keeping, brother-in-law Sandy Organ, and mother & father-in-law Andrew and Myrtle Burte. Left with many fond and loving memories of a loving husband, father, and grandfather are his wife Ethel (nee Burte) of 39 years, daughter Kelly (Rodger) Keeping Irishtown, Darren (Tammy) Keeping Benoit's Cove, grandchildren Kailie, Aurora, Liam and Gracie. Brothers Henry (Louise) Keeping, Edward (Sheila) Keeping, Keltie (Betty) Keeping all of Burnt Islands and Fred (Alice) Francis Port aux Basques, Sisters Susie Organ LaPoile, Vivian (George) Walters Isle aux Morts, Dorothy (Jake) Proux Enfield, NS, sisters-in-law on the Burte side Evelyn Keeping Burnt Islands, Jane (Ian) Fudge Corner Brook, Andrea (Steve) Peckford Corner Brook, Liz (Frank Avcion) Knee Tompkins, brother-in-law Tommy Burte Rose Blanche and a large circle of nephews, neices, and many friends. Also left with many fond memories are Ray and Roberta Young Rose Blanche, and Clarice and Fabian Keeping St. John's and his only aunt Josephine McDermott. Visitation took place on Thursday, May 15 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Friday, May 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at St. Michael's Anglican Church, Rose Blanche. Funeral service took place on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Maryrose Colbourne officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road. It is with sadness that we announce his passing at the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre at the age of 80 years. The son of the late Isaac & Esther (Blackmore) Lomond. He leaves to mourn his Wife Ruth (Nee Kettle) of 57 years. Son Jeff (Janice), Daughter Joy (Brad) Gillam; Grandchildren Chad, Jenna, Tom, Nicole, Caitlin; Brothers Robert (Margaret), Garfield (Sandra), Eneas (Linda); Sisters Evelyn Osmond, Elsie (Reg) Taylor, Gladys (Albert) Seymour, Melinda Lomond & Rosanna Lomond; Brother in Law Fred Matthews; Sisters in Law Angeline Lomond, Phyllis (Bud) Hopkins, Sandra (Albert) Kettle, Joan (Roy) Richards and Edith (Ron) March. Besides his parents Fred was predeceased by Brothers; Sidney (Kitty), John Lewis (Annie), George, Harry (Betty), Sister Edna Matthews; Brothers in Law Isaac, Phillip, & Reginald as well as his Late Father & Mother in Law Ernest & Annie Kettle. The family will be accepting visitors at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port Aux Basques on Sunday, May 18th from 7 - 9 PM and Monday May 19th, 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 20th at 2 PM from St Paul's Anglican Church, Rev Stephen Maki officiating, with interment to follow in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery. McNEIL, Hilda
(July 4, 1934 - May 21, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Hilda McNeil announces her passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre on May 21st at the age of 79 years. Born at Port aux Basques, Hilda was the daughter of the Late William and Priscilla (nee Bond) Osmond. She was also predeceased by her husband Norman McNeil, daughter Edith, brothers Charles Osmond, John (Katherine) Osmond, George (Jane) Osmond, Edward (Caroline) Osmond, & Howard (Martha) Osmond, sisters Mary (Joseph) Ingram and Elsie Fields, brothers-in-law Edgar McNeil, Charles McNeil, Gordon McNeil, Thomas (Julia) McNeil, Chesley Sheaves and Frederick Francis and also mother and father in law Frederick & Annie McNeil. She leaves with fond and loving memories sons John (Geraldine) McNeil and Norman (Barbara) McNeil both of Port aux Basques, daughters Ann (Tony Tulk) Roberts of Port aux Basques and Roberta (Robert) Thorne of Mount Pearl, sisters Elizabeth Francis and Gladys Sheaves, sisters-in-law Florence McNeil, Irene McNeil, Elizabeth McNeil and Florence Osmond, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Vistitation took place from East Haven Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, May 22 from 7-9 pm, and Friday, May 23 from 2-4 & 7-9. STRICKLAND, David
(March 4, 1923 - May 8, 2014)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Strickland of Isle Aux Morte, Newfoundland on May 8, 2014 in the Palliative Care unit 7A of the VG hospital with family by his side. He was born in Burgeo, Newfoundland and a son of the late John Strickland and Elizabeth Jane (Anderson). He is survived by his daughter Alice (Bill), grandsons David (Paula), Robert (Kim); great grandchildren Cadin, Callie and Ashley; great great grandchild Caleb; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Alice Jane, brothers Lewis Strickland, step brother George Robert Knott. David loved the outdoors, he was a fisherman for many years. He worked for Connors Brothers for 26 years until he retired in 1989. David loved going to music jams on Wednesday and Friday nights with his friends Gordie and Earl. He dearly loved Accordian music. Funeral services and burial will take place in Newfoundland on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at 2pm at Holy Spirit Church, Isle aux Morts, NF. Arrangements have been entrusted to East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basque, NF. A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 24, 2014 at 2pm at the Salvation Army Corp. Lower Sackville, reception will be held in the LP Hall. The family would like to thank Dr. Terry Higgins and the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit 7A, many thanks to the VON for the wonderful care they gave my dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts, Newfoundland.
