WELLS, Alfreda

Passed away at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS, on Thursday,
September 7th, 2006, Alfreda (nee Lomond) Wells, at the
age of 69 years. She leaves to mourn daughters: Linda (Walter) Warren, Loriann
(Ernest) Pike; sons: Dean (Gisele), Craig (Cheryl), four grandchildren: Tamara,
Bret, Joanna and Evan; brothers: James (Rita), George (Gladys), Richard (Ginger);
sisters: Ivy (Bernard) Benoit and Linda Lomond; brothers-in-law: Lloyd (Madelaine)
Wells, Neville (Caroline) Wells and Eric Wells; sisters-in-law: Katherine
Wells, Verna Bailey, Nina Piercey, Beatrice (Edgar) Payne, Kitty Lomond,
as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her
husband Wilbur; son Robert; parents Maxwell and Ivy (Lillington) Lomond;
sister Lillian Hickey and brothers: Maxwell Jr., Phillip and Robert. Visitation
took place on Saturday and Sunday at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port Aux Basques.
The Funeral Service will take place at St. James Anglican Church, on Monday,
September 11th at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Hugh Fudge. Interment to follow
at the family plot at Barachois Brook Cemetery. Family flowers by request
and donations may be made to the Legrow Health Centre Chemo Unit or St. James
Anglican Church Window Fund or to the charity of one's choice.
LIGHTS, Cecil Robert
We, the family of the late Cecil Robert Lights, regret the sudden passing
of our brother at his home in Rose Blanche. He was predeceased by his loving
daughter, Crystal; mother, Lillian (Taylor) Lights; father, Charles Lights;
brother, Douglas; and baby sister, Daphne. He leaves to mourn his loving
wife, Alma Lights of Ontario; daughters, Cindy and Debbie of New Brunswick;
son, Danny of Ontario; brother, James Taylor (wife, Mary Jane) of St. John's,
John Lights (wife, Dianne) of St. John's, Stanley of St. John's, Henry
Lights of Ontario, Gary Lights (wife, Lita) of Ontario, Harry Lights of
Ottawa, Calvin Lights (wife, Rosie) of New Brunswick, Ross Lights (wife,
Annie) of Moncton, Marie Hatcher (husband, William) of Rose Blanche, Geraldine
(Lights) Vouiter of Rose Blanche, Kathleen English (husband, Andrew) of
Ontario, Clara (Roger) of New Brunswick; one Aunt Bessie Organ of Port
aux Basques; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of
friends. Funeral arrangements took place at MacDougall's and blown in Scarborough,
Ontario. Cremation followed.

1948 - 2006
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Theodore Thorne announce
his passing on Sunday, September 10, 2006 in his 58 year. He leaves to mourn
with fond and loving memories his devoted wife of 30 years, Susie; three
sons, Lorne (Marie) Bond, Harbour Breton, Robbie (Denise) Bond, Burnt Islands,
Boyd (Tracy) Bond, Eastern Passage, NS; two daughters, Wanda (Bruce) Bryan,
Port aux Basques, Valenia (Clyde) Billard, Burnt Islands; 10 grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; two brothers, John (Wanda) Thorne, Port aux Basques,
Percy (Bernadine) Thorne, Burnt Islands; sisters, Isabelle (Jim) LeRiche,
Port aux Basques, Dorothy (Cecil) Parsons, Rose Blanche; sisters-in-law,
Mary Thorne, St. John's, Charlotte (Phillip) Courtney, LaPoile, Alma Warren,
Burgeo, Julie Francis, LaPoile; brothers-in-law, Cecil (Margaret) Francis,
Jack (Alma) Francis, LaPoile, Garfield (Emma) Francis, Burnt Islands; aunts,
Evelyn Keeping, Burnt Islands and Miriam Edmunds, Isle aux Morts, as well
as a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He was predeceased
by parents, John Matthews and Irene Thorne; parents-in-law, Prescilla and
Jack Francis; brother, Jerry Thorne; brother-in-law, Willis Francis and sister-in-law
Emma (Tom) Thurston. He was an active member of Burnt Islands Volunteer Fire
Department with service of 25 plus years, also Black Chapter with 34 years
and Orange Lodge with 36 years in Burnt Islands. Visitation was held at St.
George's Anglican Church, Burnt Islands Monday through Wednesday, from where
the Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 14 at 2 p.m., Reverend
Abbott officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Arrangements
were entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port aux Basques. The family guest

GREENE, Hilda (nee Durnford)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hilda Greene announce
her passing on Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Charles
LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 82 years. She leaves
to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 61 years Louis Greene,
children: Gerald (Nanette) Durnford, Sept Isles, James (Lillian) Greene,
Dartmouth, Sarah (Eric) Richards, Port aux Basques, Eric (Michelle) Greene,
Calgary and Tony (Madonna) Greene, Port aux Basques. Grandchildren: Tracy
(Robert) Warren, Dartmouth, Jay (Vanessa) Greene, Ontario, Jason Greene,
Yellowknife, Katerina (Ragnar) Olafson, Calgary, Stacy (Dave) Adair, Dartmouth,
Bradley Greene, Dartmouth and Mitchell Greene, Calgary. Great-grandchildren:
Liam, Zackery, Karman and Kyle. Brother Clyde (Lillian) Durnford, Francois,
sister Melita (James) Ashford, Halifax, sister-in-law Priscilla Porter, Port
aux Basques. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Sarah Durnford,
brother John Durnford, sister-in-law Phyllis Durnford and brother-in-law
Gilbert Porter. The family received friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home,
Port aux Basques on Friday and Saturday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, October 1st at 2 p.m. from St. James'
Anglican Church with Rev. Fudge officiating. Interment followed at St. James'
Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to St.
James' Anglican Cemetery Fund. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial

MEADE, Freeman H.
1907 - 2006
Passed away peacefully at Mountain Hope Manor, Port aux Basques on Friday,
September 29, 2006 Freeman Hubert Meade formerly of Isle aux Morts at the
age of 99 years. Born at Isle aux Morts, he was the son of the late Joshua
and Mariah Meade. He was predeceased by his wife Martha in 1967, daughter
Gertrude in 1994, son James in 1992, grandson Monford Meade and sons-in-law
Dorman Bunter and John A. Walters. He leaves to mourn with fond memories
his loving children: Joyce Bunter of Ontario, Emma Walters of Isle aux Morts,
Joshua (Betty) of Halifax, Enos (Madeline) of Isle aux Morts, 18 grandchildren,
22 great-grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren. Daughter-in-law
Levena Meade of Port aux Basques and a large circle of nieces, nephews and
friends. Visitation took place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Holy Spirit
Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on
Tuesday, October 2, 2006 at Holy Spirit Church officiated by Rev. Duncan
Granter. Interment followed at Holy Spirit Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts.
