BLAKE, John (Jack) Owen
(September 20, 1929 - November 26, 2013)

It is with sadness that the families of the late John Owen Blake announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, aged, 84 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife, Marie; step-daughter, Christine; step-sons, Paul and David; sister, Elva (Garfield) Fizzard; nieces, Anne, & Allison; nephew, Blake; brother-in-law Vernon; sister-in-law, Patricia Layte; as well as a number of relatives and friends. The funeral service took place November 29, 2013 at 2 pm from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Lewisporte, NL. The interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Calpyso Foundation, Lewisporte, NL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL.

COLLINS, Donald
(September 10, 1924 - November 5, 2013)

Passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL, Mr. Thomas Mcdonald Collins, aged 89 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Timothy and Jessie Collins; siblings, Isabel (Donald Rowe), Mac (Valda), Reginald (Minnie), Frances (Raymond Dawe), Frank. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Janet; siblings, Garfield (Lorraine), Marjorie, Lloyd (Verna); special niece, Trudy Rendell; nephew, Thomas Rendell and a large circle of other relatives and friends. The public visitation took place Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 2 pm - 4 pm and Friday, November 8th from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL The funeral service took place Saturday, November 9th at 1 pm from St. Matthews United Church, Lewisporte, NL. The interment followed from the United Church Cemetery, Lewisporte, NL. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to a Charity of One's Choice would be gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL.

COLLINS, Janet Louise (Rendell)
(December 18, 1923 - November 7, 2013)

Passed away on November 7, 2013 at the North Haven Manor in Lewisporte, Mrs. Janet (Rendell) Collins of Lewisporte, aged 89 years. She was predeceased by her much loved Granny; parents, Laura & Thomas Rendell; sisters, Violet, Muriel & Alfreda; brothers, Robert & Leonard; nephew, Robert; husband, Donald on November 5, 2013. Left to mourn her passing are: her sister-in-law, Inez; nieces & nephews; great-nieces & nephews; great-great-nieces & nephews who respected and loved her dearly. Also left to mourn are her in-laws (The Collins Family), cousins, friends and especially her caregivers. Visitation took place on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 7 pm - 9 pm and on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 2 pm - 4 & 7 pm - 9 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home in Lewisporte. The funeral service took place Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 1 pm from St. Matthew's United Church in Lewisporte,, NL. The interment followed in the St. Matthew's United Church Cemetery, Lewisporte, NL. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to a Charity of One's Choice was gratefully accepted. GARDINER, Lucy
Born: June 23rd, 1924
Passed on: November 18th, 2013
Lucy Florence (Porter) Gardiner
, of London, ON went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 18, 2013 in her 90th year. Lucy was born on June 23, 1924 in Porterville, Newfoundland, the daughter of Caleb and Sarah (Ball) Porter and the 11th of 14 children. Growing up on the Bay of Exploits in beautiful Porterville left an indelible mark upon Lucy, and it would remain her favourite place on earth all of her life. World War II brought Canadian soldiers to Newfoundland's shores and her future husband as well. She married James Gardiner on January 31, 1944, and together they raised a family of six children, immigrating to Ontario in 1950. Those who knew her will remember a proud Newfoundlander, a woman of strong faith, a compassionate nurse, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She remained young at heart and full of life and laughter all of her days. Lucy is predeceased by husband James, her parents, brothers: Asaph, Harrison and Harold; sisters: Mary, Gladys, Phyllis, Edna, Julie, Edith and Jesse; two sons: Barton and Greg Gardiner; and grandson Chad Gardiner. She is survived by her children: Eloise (Bruce) MacDonald of London, Sherry (Leonard) Butters of St Marys, Bradly (Marion) Gardiner of London, Vicki (Peter) Burgess of Forest, and Bethne (Aivars) Berzins of Prince Edward Island. She was a fun and loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Audrey Forgey of Westfield, NB, Minnie Haines of Lewisporte, NL and Max (Sheila) Porter of Porterville, NL. "Aunt Lucy" will be missed by many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and across Canada. She will also be missed by many others and all who knew her. A graveside service was held at St Marys Cemetery 150 Cain Street, St. Marys, Ontario on Wednesday, November, 20, 2013 at 2:15 p.m. with Pastor David Elliott of Knollwood Baptist Church officiating. KING, Lester
(November 2, 1915 - November 1, 2013)

Passed peacefully away at the James Payton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL , the late Lester George King at the age of 97 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are: his sons, Haward (Elsie), Francis (Phyllis), Lewis (Doreen), Raymond (Edna), Bruce, Ralph (Joy); daughers, Violet (Maxwell), Elizabeth (Edward), & Daphne; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, & 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Violet Freake; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lester is predeceased by his wife Olive. The public visitation will take place, Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Change Islands, NL. The funeral service will take place Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Joanne Mercer officiating. The interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Change Islands, NL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.

KING, Winnie Dora
(January 18, 1945 - November 16, 2013)

Passed peacefully away at her home in Port Albert, NL on November 16, 2013, Winnie Dora King, aged 68. Leaving to mourn her husband, Fred of 51 years; mother, Meta Mercer; daughter, Michelle (Barry); granddaughters, April (Jason), & Tania (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Emma, Taylen, Abby, Brielle; brothers, Bruce (Gail); sisters, Julie (Jake), Francis (Harris); sisters-in law, Dorothy Alexander, & Marjorie (Frank) Milley; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Winnie is predeceased by: her father, Ives Leyte, Step-father, Cecil Mercer; grandparents Lambert & Lucy Wells; brothers-in-laws, Roland King, Winston Gates,& Herbert Snow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The United Church Memorial Fund.

The funeral service will take place Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:30 pm from The United Church, Port Albert, NL with Rev. Clouter officiating. The interment will follow at the United Church Cemetery, Port Albert, NL. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL.

SHEPPARD, Annie Louise
(June 13, 1922 - November 2, 2013)

With great sadness, the family of Annie Louise Sheppard announce her passing at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL, on November 2, 2013. "Aunt Louie", as she was affectionately known, had lived a full productive life for 91 years. She was born to Mark and Rachel Sheppard into a family of ten brothers and two sisters, all of whom have predeceased her. She left her native Indian Islands when she married James Sheppard of Stag Harbour, NL. They relocated to Embree in 1956 where they raised their nine children. For the last five years she was a resident of Twilight Manor, Embree, where she received excellent care. In addition to her parents and siblings, she is predeceased by husband James, infant daughter Sophie and son Baxter. Left to mourn are her children, Juanita (Stanley) Foss, Cluny (Golda), Robert (Julie), Maisie (Max) Wells, Marina (Edward) Collins, Minnie (Dexter) Ralph, Larry (Audrey), & Gaye (Ford) Penney; daughter-in-law Daphne Sheppard; thirty-three grandchildren; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Public visitation took place on Sunday, November 3, 2013 and Monday, November 4, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM each day at the Pentecostal Church in Embree,NL, from where the funeral was held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 2 PM with Pastor Dwayne Mews officiating. Interment followed at the Embree Community cemetery. Pallbearers were Enurchus Atkinson, Ted Decker, Byron Foss, Keith Foss, Peter Foss and Quincy Sheppard. As expressions of sympathy, donations in her memory were made to the Embree Community Cemetery Fund.

SHEPPARD, Eva May
(July 28, 1918 - November 16, 2013)
Passed peacefully away at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL, Eva May Sheppard of Appleton, aged 95 years. Eva leaves to mourn with loving memories her sons, Scott (Elizabeth), & David (Julie); daughters, Viola (Dave) Fradsham, & Wanda (Navin) Gillingham; son-in-law, Carl Pelley; 10 grandchildren, & 10 great grandchildren; her brothers, Cyril (Millicent), Douglas (Rose);brother-in-law, Eldon (Marie) Sheppard, sister-in-law, Ada Sheppard; Bram & Betty Sheppard; The nursing staff of North Haven Manor who loved her like family; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Eva is predeceased by her husband, Otto; & daughter, Joan Pelley. Public visitation will take place Monday, November 18, 2013 at 7-9 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL. A private family service will take place Tuesday at 2 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL. The interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Glenwood, NL. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Gideon's Bible Society. The Family extends thanks to the caring Doctors and Staff of North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL. SIMMS, Sybil Francis
(November 24, 1925 - November 18, 2013)

It is with sadness that the family of the late Sybil Francis Simms announces her passing at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL aged 87 years. She leaves to mourn her husband, Wilson; daughter, Clara; son, John (Eileen); grandchildren, Adam (Heather), Matthew, Heather, & Noelle great grandchildren, Kaitlyn; brother, Rex (Bessie); sister, Jean; brother-in-law, Garland (Katherine); sister-in-law, Ruby; special furry friend, Cody; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends. The public visitation will take place Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 7-9 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte NL. The funeral service will take place Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2 pm from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Lewisporte, NL. The interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Lewisporte, NL. WOODFORD, Mildred
(June 9, 1936 - November 19, 2013)

Passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL, Mrs. Mildred Woodford, aged 77 years. Mildred is predeceased by her parents, Timothy and Carrie Callahan; her husband, Warrick; sisters and brothers. She leaves to mourn, her children, Wayne (Audrey), Alma (Terry), Dona (Gary), Barry (Michelle), Tracy (Trent) grandchildren, Cory (Renee), Robbie (Teena), Julie (Junior) & Desiree; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Jenna; brother-in-law, Eric Bowering; sister-in-law, Emma Callahan; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The public visitation will take place Thursday, 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, Lewisporte, NL. The funeral service will take place, Friday, November 22, 2013 at 2 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Lewisporte, NL. The interment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Lewisporte, NL. As expressions of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
