BECKETT, Calvin
Passed away peacefully on January 5, 2009 at the age of eighty-four. Beloved husband of Margaret for sixty years. Devoted father of Susan (Bob), Lorna (Jim), Nancy (Norman), Cathy (Rod), Karen and Steve (Lori). Cherished grandfather and great grandfather. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers Maxwell and Charles and his sister Helen, all from Newfoundland. At his request, a private service will be held. Condolences at www.kanefetterly.com


BUTT, Shirley B (nee Billard)
1931-2009

Died suddenly on July 3, 2009 at home in Montreal. Beloved wife of the late Llewelyn Winston Butt. Survived by her children Lewellyn, Robert, Frederick, James, Rosan, by her sisters Lorraine Young and Betty Forward. Predeceased by Walter Billard, Edith Billard Schmitt, also survived by fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive condolences at Feron's Funeral Complex: 2630 Notre-Dame West, Montreal, on Friday, July 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Montreal Association for the blind. Also, donations will be accepted at the funeral hall by the family for the Bethany United church Carbonnear NFLD.**


COLE, Kenneth Chesley
1948 - 2009

Passed away peacefully at the Montreal General Hospital on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by his wife Margaret (Morrissey), brother Fred Porter (Ella), sisters Faye Hickey (Jack), Judy Porter (Lawrence), Robyn Thompson (Ian), Ramona Cole and June Turpin (Arden), brother-in-law Paul Morrissey (Shelly) as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Interment has taken place in Torbay, Newfoundland. Friends will be received at on Saturday, July 18, 2009, between 2 and 4 p.m. Donations to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.**

With his family by his side, on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, at the age of sixty-six. Cherished husband of Diane. Loving and adored father of Nancy Driscoll (Patrick) and Stephanie Drover-Smith (David). Devoted grandfather of William, Drew, Laura and Megan. Son of Sarah and the late Josiah Drover of Paradise, Newfoundland. Loving brother of Joyce (Joe) Lynch, Wilson, Phyllis, Joseph, Beatrice (Melvin) Marsh. Predeceased by his sister Ruth (Baxter) and brother Wilfred (Rosemary). Tom's career with Royal Bank spanned over thirty-nine years. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin Mills" Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street W., Mississauga, (just east of Erin Mills Prkwy) for a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 3 p.m. with visitation for one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.


EVANS, Michael Meredith
1941-2009

Passed away peacefully on April 5, 2009 at the age of sixty-seven. Beloved husband of Claudette Sergerie, brother of Suzanne (Nfld) and brother-in-law of Eugene (Patricia), Romeo (Violette), Cecile (Rosaire Martel), Murielle and Rachel Sergerie (Tony Lively). FITZPATRICK, Mary, CND. (Sister St. Mary Phillipa) - Passed away at Infirmerie Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Philip Fitzpatrick and the late Mary Anne Murphy of Torbay, NF. Four brothers, James, John, Thomas and Leo and one sister, Helen predeceased her. Sister leaves to mourn her sister, Helen Dunphy of Torbay, NF, a sister-in-law, Nell Fitzpatrick of Stephenville, NF and many cherished, devoted nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister Mary began her teaching career of thirty-five years in the schools of the Montreal area and spent some time in Caraquet, NB, New Haven, Conn., Huntingdon, QC, and Chateauguay, QC. She retired to Villa Marguerite in 1985 and was transferred to the Infirmerie Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours in 2009. The wake will be held at the Salle Marguerite Bourgeoys, 5017 Notre Dame de Grace Avenue, Montreal on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service starting at 8 p.m. The Eucharistic Celebration will take place at Notre Dame de Grace Church, (St. Augustine of Canterbury), 5333 Notre Dame de Grace Avenue, Montreal at 10 a.m. on August 10, 2009. FULFORD, Anna Winona (nee Stevenson)
Montreal Gazette January 9, 2009 (Friday)

Born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, beloved wife of the late George, passed on January 6, 2009, surrounded by her three loves, Joni (Gordie) and Ruthie (Gord) of Thunder Bay and Mark. Survived by sisters Sadie and Vesta, and brother Frank. Predeceased by Margaret and Clarence. A career woman from the start, working in the McGill Physics Department during the war, then employed by NRC at the library in Ottawa, she considered employment in Chalk River but decided to return to Montreal to start a family. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren. She will miss the neighbours, the birds, and all the children of 35th Avenue. Resting at J. J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 2125 Notre Dame, Lachine, Tel.: (514) 639-1511. Visitation on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. followed by cremation on Monday at Mount Royal.


HANLEY, MAUREEN CATHERINE (NEE MANNING)
Montreal Gazette September 19, 2009 (Saturday)

Born August 23, 1928 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Daughter of the late Raymond and Laura Manning. Died September 15, 2009 at the Montreal General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Allen Hanley and their daughter Janet. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends, her children Margaret, Raymond, Barbara (Pierre Timotheatos), Rosemary and David, her sister Mary Elisabeth Clancy (Cyril) and her in-laws Betty Hanley, Bill Hanley, Pat O'Reilly, Paula Hanley, Peter Hanley (Nicole Latulippe), and her many nieces and nephews. The family is very grateful to the staff on the 18th floor of the Montreal General Hospital for the care she received at the end, and to the many people, most especially at the CLSC Metro, who provided the support that allowed her to remain in her home throughout her final years. According to her wishes, she was cremated privately. The family will receive visits of condolence from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 at her home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at The Ascension of Our Lord Parish, 375 Kitchener Avenue in Westmount. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Ascension of Our Lord Parish Meals-on-Wheels, to the Ascension-Green Avenue Community Center Seniors Lunch Club or to the Montreal Association for the Intellectually Handicapped (A.M.D.I.) would be most appreciated.


HISCOCK, Elizabeth (Betty) nee Walker
Montreal Gazette December 12, 2009 (Saturday)

Passed away peacefully at the West Island Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland, Quebec Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the age of sixty-eight years. Survived by her sisters, Sylvia Button (George), Sandra Legge (Raymond), Alma Burt and brothers, Gordon Walker, Clayton Walker and Robert Walker Jr. (Rose). Leaving to mourn daughter Vera of Montreal and son Vernon (Shelly) of Pickering, Ontario as well as two grandchildren, Laura and Mark. At Betty's request, she will be cremated in Montreal and her ashes buried in Winterton, Nfld. Visitation will be at Greens Funeral Home in Winterton, Nfld. The funeral service will take place on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the St. Luke's Anglican Church in Winterton, Nfld. No flowers by request. Donations in Betty's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the West Island Palliative Care Residence who took such good care of her.


KILPATRICK, VICTORIA (nee DAWE)
1912 - 2009

On Friday morning, March 6, 2009 at the Lachine Hospital, MUHC in Lachine, Victoria Dawe, dearly beloved wife of the late William Reddy Kilpatrick passed away in peace and dignity. She was the grand matriarch of the family. She had a gentle hand, was a calm refuge and an everlasting supporter of her family. Victoria Dawe was born September 14, 1912 in Burnt Head, Cupids, Conception Bay, Newfoundland. She was the eldest and last surviving sibling of the eight children of Samuel Henry Dawe and Elizabeth Bishop.

In 1923, the Dawe family moved to Verdun, Quebec from Newfoundland. She met her husband to be, William Reddy Kilpatrick, in 1934 and they were married in St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church on June 26, 1937. Victoria was the dear mother of William (Bill) Robert Bishop Kilpatrick and Heather Ruth Victoria Kilpatrick and beloved mother-in-law to their spouses Sharon Ruth Biggs and Donald George Vickers. Victoria was predeceased by her husband, her brothers Jacob, James Donald (Nora Malone), Gordon Samuel and William Clarence Bishop and her sisters Florence Muriel (Elliot Fraser), Violet (Ralph Turner) and Elsie Elizabeth (Stewart McGrandel). She was the cherished (Gram) grandmother of Chantal Lise Kilpatrick (Dr. Devinder P. Cheema), Tanya Ruth Kilpatrick (Mark J. Steele) and Deborah Lynn Victoria Kilpatrick (S. Patrick Hopf). She was a much loved Auntie Vic to Elliot Fraser (Diane) of Toronto, Heather Fraser (Fred Taclas) of Honolulu, Betty Dawe (Frank Rosche) of Winnipeg, Noni Dawe Kerrivan of Ottawa, Jim Dawe (Claire) of Vancouver, Vi Dawe (Jim Campbell) of Kingston, the late Beth McGrandel (Wayne Mamer) of Windsor, Al McGrandel of Ottawa, Brian Turner (Anne) of Calgary, Malcolm Turner (Monica) and Glen Turner (Chantal). Victoria lived to enjoy six great-grandchildren: Jacob Alexander Bishop Kilpatrick Steele, Savannah Elizabeth MacKenzie Kilpatrick Steele, Ryan Samuel Cheema, Aidan Ross Cheema, Evan Jack Cheema and Bianca Potter Hopf.

She will be fondly remembered for all the wonderful conversation and laughter at family gatherings, her endearing and positive reflections on all aspects of our happy lives, and in particular the joyous Christmas dinners. Many thanks to Lise DaSilva (Ron Benard), a special caring friend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lachine Hospital Foundation or the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. MACKEY, Dermott

On Friday, December 26, 2008, at Mount Sinai Hospital, after a long battle with cancer, Dermott passed away peacefully. Survived by his wife, Ruby Kitts, his 4 brothers, his stepchildren, Bruce, Celina and Dale, his 3 grandchildren, Sean, Emily and Justin, and many thanks for the loving support of Arnold and Blema Steinberg and also many relatives and friends. McKINNON, Alice (Tilley)
1923-2008

It is with sadness we announce the passing away of Alice McKinnon (Tilley). Alice passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her loving daughter Maureen and son-in-law John and her sister Rita. Alice is predeceased by her brother Clayton and her sisters Cavelle, Lilly and Audrey. She will be missed by all her friends and extended family in Kelligrews, Newfoundland. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to a Heart or Lung Foundation. The visitation will take place at Magnus Poirier Funeral Home 6825 boul. Sherbrooke Est in Montreal, on Saturday, November 29 from 3:30 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, November 30 as of 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held on Sunday November 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the complex.**


NYKAMP, JUNE ANN (nee Gibson) [with photo]
November 6, 1958 - July 13, 2009

Our beloved Ann passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice, surrounded by her loved ones, on July 13, 2009. She is survived by her loving parents, Norma and Stewart Gibson; her devoted husband and eternal friend, Erwin; her two beloved children, Monica and David; sister, Mary; brother, Robert and families. Ann was predeceased by her brother, Douglas. Ann was born in Stephenville, Newfoundland but grew up in Dollard-des-Ormeaux - Montreal. She ventured to Calgary in 1975, where she met and married Erwin. In 1985, Edmonton became her home before moving to Victoria, which has been home since 1995. Annie loved everything about living on the Rock (Victoria) and would often be heard saying she constantly felt like a tourist in Victoria. Her love for family, friends and life was passionate and she will be greatly missed. In the words of her favorite musical group, "She is buying the stairway to heaven." Friends are asked to join with the family to celebrate Ann's life at Christ Church Cathedral, Quadra and Courtney Streets, Victoria, BC, on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. The Very Reverend Logan McMenamie officiating. OBERFIELD, Rachel (nee Goldstein)
September 27, 1914 - April 27, 2009

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Rachel Oberfield (nee Goldstein) on April 27, 2009. Rachel was a very special part of our family having been married to Harry Oberfield for eighteen years. Rachel was predeceased by her husband Harry, her son-in-law Aaron Tock and Grandson Neil Tock. She leaves behind various family members who will miss her and cherish her memory including Doris Tock and Myrna Rubenstein. Additionally, Rachel was the beloved grandmother of Robert Tock, and Esther Tock of Toronto and Earl Rubenstein of Montreal. She also leaves behind eight great- grandchildren in Newfoundland and Toronto. Please join us in remembering a lovely lady who will not be forgotten.**

Wife of Captain Frederick Harold Young (deceased). Born in Codroy, Newfoundland, September 23, 1914. Lived in Dorval and more recently in Westmount, Quebec. Beloved mother of Thelma and Norma, and cherished grandmother of Calvin and Ryan (MacLean). We wish to thank all of the staff of St. Margaret's Home in Westmount who gave her such magnificent attention and kindness during her stay there. Funeral Service on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Mount Royal Funeral Home (Chapel), 1297 chemin de la Foret, Outremont, followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon Reception.
