HYMENALS:

MORRIS - McDONALD
On January 24th a very pretty and quiet wedding took place at the residence of the bride's parents, 66 Lime St., when J.N. McDONALD, M.D., son of the late J.H. MCDONALD, barrister, of Shelourne, Nova Scotia, was united in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony by Rev. Mons. ROACHE, to Miss Phoebe MORRIS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. MORRIS, of this city. The bride was attired in a pretty costume of cream broadcloth with hat trimmed with ostrich plumes. She was attended by her sister, Miss Annie MORRIS, who wore a costume of tabac brown. The groom was supported by Mr. S.A. RIGBY of the Bank of Montreal. After refreshments were partaken of, the happy couple joined the express for their future home, Curling, Bay of Islands. The bride wore a pretty travelling costume of wine color cloth, trimmed with velvet, and hat to match. They were the recipients of very many useful and pretty presents. The "News" extends congratulations.

OBITUARY:

MR. JAMES HEALEY
We chronicle with regret the demise of Mr. James HEALEY, which occurred at his residence, Job's Street, yesterday, from pneumonia. Mr. HEALEY was in his 27th year, and was one of the most popular young men in the West End. He was President of the People's Club, and also President of St. Patrick's Club, since its inception some years ago. A widow, mother and father, several brothers and sisters, are left to mourn, to whom sincere sympathy is expressed.

The following were admitted since January 22nd. - Edward HAGEN, St. Pierre; Joseph NOLAN, St. Mary's; Kathleen KANE, Renews; Gabriel HOLLETT, Burin; Mary WHELAN, St. John's; Richard TRAVERS, Horse Cove; Martha NEWELL, Pouch Cove; Lewis YOUNG, Twillingate; Mrs. FOWLOW, St. John's; James LITTLE, Bonavista; Ernest SALT, St. John's; Annie BARRETT, New Melbourne; William BOWEN, St. Mary's; Lizzie BRENNAN, St. John's; Edward SPARKS, Bay Roberts; Mary MURPHY, St. John's; Frank JACKMAN, St. John's; Charles OSMOND, Gambo; Samuel COOPER, Green's Harbour; James GEARY, Carbonear; Emily MARCH, St. John's; Alexander SLANEY, St. Lawrence.

The following were operated on since Jan. 22nd. - William HOGGARTH, Trinity; Mary PYNN, Harbour Grace; Richard CURRAN, Fermeuse; Richard TRAVERS, Horse Cove; Walter JONES, Upper Island Cove; William BOWEN, St. Mary's; Kathleen KANE, Renews; Mary BROTHERS, Point Verde.

Mon. Jan. 30, 1911

DEATHS:

KNOWLING. - At "Silverton," Kilbride, on Jan. 29th, 1911, Elizabeth S. KNOWLING, eldest daughter of the Hon. G. and Mrs. KNOWLING. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

HEALY. - On Jan. 29thth, after a short illness, of pneumonia, James J. HEALY, aged 27 years, leaving a wife, father, mother, five brothers and three sisters, to mourn their loss. Funeral on Tuesday, at 2.30 p.m. from his late residence, No. 1 Job Street.

Thur. Mar. 2, 1911

OBITUARY:

CAPT. J. McDONALD,
one of our best known mariners, died at 3 p.m. yesterday, after an illness of 5 weeks. Deceased had been suffering from heart failure for some time, but unknown to his friends, and was conveyed to the hospital a few weeks ago for special treatment. All possible was done, but only temporary relief could be given and death came yesterday. Capt. McDONALD had reached the age of 65 years, and up to a short while ago was actively engaged at his vocation. Three sons, Peter, Augustus and Andrew, are left to mourn, to whom we extend sympathy.

OBITUARY:

THE LATE J.J. PITTMAN
The announcement of the death of Mr. J.J. PITTMAN, Barrister and Solicitor, came as a great surprise, as only a few days ago he was apparently in robust health. Mr. PITTMAN was a man of exceptional ability, and, at one time, the door of opportunity seemed to be wide open to him. He was a native of Lamaline, where his aged parents died a few years ago, and where his brother, Mr. C.C. PITTMAN, J.P., Collector of Customs, still lives. Mr. PITTMAN represented his native district of Burin in the Legislature, and since then, unsuccessfully contested St. John's East. Among his many gifts was a trenchant pen, a fluent delivery, an artist's skill, and an analytical mind. Death has been very busy in our midst of late, sparing neither young nor old. In James J. PITTMAN it has taken one, whose mentality and physique seemed to promise length of years, another illustration of the uncertainty of life. To his relatives and friends we extend sympathy.

Mon, Apr. 24, 1911

DEATHS:

O'NEIL.
On April 23rd, at 7 p.m., of appendicitis, Patrick, eldest son of the late John and Amelia O'NEIL, aged 15 years. Funeral will take place from his grandmother's residence, 273 Water St., West, on Tuesday, at 2.30 p.m.

SEYMOUR.
On Saturday evening, Sarah A., widow of the late Henry Warren SEYMOUR, aged 81 years. Funeral on Tuesday, at 2.30 p.m., from his late residence, No. 94 Barnes Rd. Friends and acquaintances please accept this, the only intimation.
