It is with great sadness that the family of the late Myrtle Eliza Fudge, age 87, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Monday, April 1, 2002. Predeceased by husband Francis; parents Frederick and Emma Jane Fransham; sisters Ella Whalen, Emily Norman and Olive Rice; brothers Malcolm and Augustus and great grandson Mason. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Murray (Anita), Gambo and Augustus (Sharon), Tumbler Ridge, BC; daughters Pansy Rice (Leonard), Baie Verte, Sandra Fudge, Baie Verte and Claudine Randell (Donald), Brampton, ON; grandchildren Krisinda fudge, Shane Fudge, Andrew Fudge, Sarah Fudge, Lorna Tucker, Lynn Rice-Rideout, Bradley Randell and Patty Randell; great grandchildren Kristian Rideout, Kirk Tucker and Hunter Randell and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Sheldon LeGrow conducted the funeral service at Faith United Church and Cemetery, Woodstock on Thursday, April 4, 2002. Pallbearers were Ruby Randell, Debbie Newman, Nina Decker, Tracey Regular, Rhonda Decker and Geraldine Decker.

SHINER, STELLA BESSIE BLANCHE
SMITH'S HR.

Passed away peacefully on April 2, 2002, Stella Bessie Blanche Shiner, age 62, at Smith's Hr. She was an homemaker/fisherperson. Mrs Shiner retired from fishing in 1992 and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Predeceased by her husband Herbert Shiner and her parents Leander and Melinda Penney. Left to mourn are mother-in-law Lucy Shiner; sons Otto (Coleen), Smith's Hr.; Henry (Sally Fillen), Antigonish, NS, Nelson (Wanda), Smith's Hr. and Michael (Connie), Antigonish, NS; daughters Judy (Clyde Penney), Fort Nelson, BC, Jean (Applin), King's Point, Joyleen (Bryce Vokey), King's Point and Kimberley (Sheldon Penney), Smith's Hr. Also leaving to mourn are sisters Effie Mitchell and Marilyn Prowse; brothers Fred Penney and Cecil Penney; 17 grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Bruce Mills conducted the funeral service at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Smith's Hr on April 7. 2002. Interment was at Bayview United Church Cemetery, Smith's hr. Pallbearers were Otto Shiner, Henry Shiner, Nelson Shiner, Michael Shiner, Bryce Vokey and Danny Hollett.

SULLIVAN, JAMES MICHAEL
BRENT'S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Michael Sullivan, age 80, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Friday, April 5, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth; brother John T.; sister Nellie; stepbrother Patrick and stepsisters Katherine, Elizabeth, Rita and Mary. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Alice; sons Aloysius (Christine), Deer Lake, Victor, Kenneth, Albert (Sandra), all of Brent's Cove, Rodney (Corey), Edmonton, AB, Douglas, Brent's Cove, Wayne (Susan), Winnipeg, MB and Todd (Melissa Corbett), Vancouver, BC; daughters Angela Pennell (Clayton), Fort MacMurray, AB, Trudy Giles (Ronald), Harbour Round, Claudine Ryan (Eddie), Edmonton, AB and Gearldine Picken (Allan), Edmonton, AB; 18 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at St. John the Apostle Roman catholic Church and Cemetery, Brent's Cove on Monday, April 8, 2002. Pallbearer were his sons Aloysius, Albert, Rodney, Douglas, Wayne, Todd and the crossbearers were Kenneth and Nathan Sullivan.

PETERS, MARCELLA MAY,
SPRINGDALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marcella May Peters announce her passing at the Springdale Hospital on April 7, 2002 at the age of 88. Marcella was a member of the Grace United Church U. C. W. Predeceased by mother and father Maude and Joseph Short; husband Robert Peters and brothers Maxwell, Louis and Parmenous. Left with fond and loving memories is son David (Marina), Brampton, ON. Also leaving to mourn brother Percy Short and wife Olive and many relatives and friends. Rev. Russell Lodge conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church on April 10, 2002. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Rolfe, Brian Whitehorne, Cyril Pelley Jr., Rennie Clarke, Ivan Bowers and Scott Anstey.

DECKER, BEATRICE PEARL
WOODSTOCK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Beatrice Pearl Decker, age 87, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Monday, April 10, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband Elias; parents Joseph and Charity Sparkes; son-in-law Edward Eveliegh; sisters Priscilla and Elizabeth and grandson Byron. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Ellis (Margaret), Murray Hr. PEI, Clemeth (Judith), Wellington, NS and Manuel (Elsie), Baie Verte; daughters Melvina Eveleigh, Seal Cove, Beulah Parsons (Vincent), St. John's and Gertie Pinksen (Ross), Sop's Arm; brother James Sparkes (Bessie), Seal Cove; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captain Stan Higdon conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Woodstock on Saturday, April 13, 2002. Pallbearers were Ross Pinksen, Vincent Parsons, Rex Mitchell, Pearce Mitchell, Harry Mitchell and Mackenzie Mitchell.

WALSH, MARY C.
COACHMAN'S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary C. Walsh, age 94, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph; parents Joseph and Mary Bailey; son William; daughter-in-law Gertrude Walsh; sisters Margaret Kennedy, Elizabeth Barker and Jane Fitzgerald; brothers Francis Bailey, john Bailey, William Bailey and granddaughter Doreen Walsh. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Gerard (Kathleen), Lawrence, Bernard (Molly) and Cecil (Florence) all of Coachman's Cove; daughter-in-law Margaret Walsh; special friend Muriel Thorton; 26 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Coachman's Cove on Friday, April 12, 2002. Pallbearers were Gerard Walsh, Lawrence Walsh, Bernard Walsh, Cecil Walsh, Leonard Walsh and Ernie Combdon and the crossbearer was Alice Bailey

STARKES, GERALD WILFRED
Gerald Wilfred Starkes
of Cambridge, ON (formerly of Nipper's Hr., NF) passed away at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, ON on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 in his 59th year. Beloved husband of Nola (Randell) and loving father of Angela Hutchings and her husband Bill, Curtis and Brian, all of Cambridge. Dear grandfather of Sean and Alicia. Cherished son-in-law of Grace Randell, Springdale, brother-in-law of Don Randell and his wife Patsy and uncle to their children Christopher and Melissa. Gerald will be sadly missed by many cousins and friends in Newfoundland. Mr. Starkes was predeceased by his parents Saunders and Pearl. He was employed for nine years at Challenger Motor Freight. Funeral services was held at the Corbett Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 2 p.m.. Interment was at Parklawn Cemetery, Fountain St. Cambridge.

COACHMAN'S COVE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Barker, age 90, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Health Centre on Sunday, April 14, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret Barker and son Charles. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Anastasia; sons James (Marie), Jack, Raymond (Doreen), Greg (Goretti), all of Coachman's Cove, Wish (Dianne), Fort MacMurray, AB, Rick (Bernice) and Patrick (Lisa) both of Coachman's Cove; daughters Theresa Fitzgerald (James), Rose Walsh (Ron) both of Coachman's Cove and Ruby Wheeler (Richard), Churchill Falls; 22 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Eugene Morris conducted the funeral service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Coachman's Cove on Wednesday, April 17, 2002. Pallbearers were sons James, Jack, Raymond, Greg, Rick and Patrick and the crossbearer was son Wish.

JACOBS, SAMUEL JOSEPH,
WESTPORT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Samuel Joseph Jacobs, age 79, announce his passing at the CNRHC, Grand Falls-Windsor on Sunday, April 14, 2002. Predeceased by his parents James and Elsie Jacobs; stepfather William Simms; half sister Mary Cramm; half brother Maxwell Simms and step brother Johnny Simms. Left with fond and loving memories are special friends Gerald and Shirley Jacobs and family, Westport; nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. David Sissmore conducted the funeral service at St. Peter's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Westport on Wednesday, April 17, 2002. Pallbearers were Chris Jacobs, Tyler Jacobs, Don Jacobs, Kelvin Hoskins, Andrew Jacobs and Mike Stuckless.

BUDGELL, PALMER,
KING'S POINT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Palmer Budgell announce his passing at Grand Falls-Windsor on April 14, 2002 in his 72nd year. He was predeceased by his mother Maude; father Ernest and brother Elmo. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Stella; son Rudy (Rene) of King's Point and daughter Joy (Ray) also of king's Point. Also leaving to mourn three grandchildren (Ritchie Knight, Pam Knight and Jenna Budgell); five brothers, Henry (Alettia), Gordon (Isabelle), Alton (Marilyn), Stewart (Alberta) and Maurice (Mavis). Capt. Young, Major Young and Majors Dixie and Lavern Budgell conducted the funeral service at King's Point. Interment was at the King's Point Cemetery. Pallbearers were brothers Gordon, Alton, Stewart and Maurice and nephews Dean Budgell and Morris Chipp.

JANES, MAUD,
MIDDLE ARM

Passed peacefully away on April 18, 2002, Mrs. Maude Janes at the Baie Verte Health Centre in her 79th year. She was born at Shoe Cove, June 19, 1922 and was a member ot the Bayview Pentecostal Tabernacle. Predeceased by her husband Raymond Janes and daughter Triffie Noble. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Herbert (Lottie) and Sterling (Cora) both of Mississauga, ON; daughter Verna (Lloyd Penney), Middle Arm; brothers Malcolm Martin (June) and Ward Martin; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Leighton Foster conducted the funeral service at Bayview Pentecostal Tabernacle, Middle Arm on Sunday, April 21, 2002. Interment was at Bayview Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guy Noble, David Martin, Dorman Martin, Carl Hollett, Sandy Hull and Melvin Hollett.

BOYD, ETHEL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ethel Boyd announce her passing at the Valley Vista Home, Springdale on April 19th at the age of 90. Ethel was a member of the Salvation Army Home League. Predeceased by her husband gordon and sons Rex and Vance. Left with fond and loving memories are son Jim (Georgina) of Labrador City. Also leaving to mourn sister Marjorie; brother Ron; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Joan. Capt. B. Hopkins conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army on April 23, 2002. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stephen Boyd, Dennis Boyd, Tracy Boyd, Wycliff Boyd, Charles Jerrett and Seaward Anderson.

ROBERTS, ETTA B.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Etta B. Roberts announce her passing at the Valley Vista, Springdale on April 20, 2002 at the age of 92. She was a member of the Grace United Church. Predeceased by her husband Ferdinand Roberts. Left with fond and loving memories are Sons Clyde (Marilyn), Flowers Cove and Roland (Rita), Springdale; daughters Maxine (Richard), Stephenville and Patrician (Carl), Springdale. Also leaving to mourn sister Margaret; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Rev. Marion Advise conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church on April 24, 2002. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shawn Tracy, Christopher Gillard, Wade Gillard, Richard Callahan, Edmond Whalen and Ken Whalen.

PAYNE, MICHAEL THOMAS Sr.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Michael Thomas Payne Sr., age 96, announce his passing at the Baie verte Health Centre on Friday, April 26, 2002. Predeceased by wife Bernetta; parents John and Margaret; sons Lawrence, Arthur, Ralph and Tom; daughter Joan; sons-in-law James Giles, Lawrence Matthews, Patrick Seymour and Cyril Drover; brothers Joe, Ambrose, Jack and Art and sisters Josie, Bridget and Nellie. Left with fond and loving memories are grandson Stedman Payne (Michelle) and great granddaughter Kaitlyn with whom he resided at Harbour Round; sons John (Josephine), Thomas (Agnes) all of Harbour Round; stepson Michael Martin (Theresa), Baie Verte; daughters Bridget Giles, Margaret Giles (Lester) all of Harbour Round, lucy Haas (Vincent), Brent's Cove, Nora Matthews, Josephine Seymour and Ann Drover all of Harbour Round; daughters-in-law Irene Payne, Ann Payne and Genevieve Payne; special granddaughters Mary Drover and Veronica Johnson; sister Ann Drover; brother William Payne; 97 grandchildren; 197 great grandchildren; 58 great great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Brent's Cove on Monday, April 29, 2002. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Round. Pallbearers were grandsons Lawrence Payne, Peter Payne, Junior Payne, Michael Giles, Gerald Matthews and Clarence Haas and the cross bearer was daughter Bridget Giles

SMITH, SAMUEL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Samuel Smith announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor on April 29, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by wife Maude; brother Jack; sister Janet and parents Eli and Annie. Left with fond and loving memories are sons Maxwell of Alberta and daughter Cleo (Chesley Blackler), Springdale. Also leaving to mourn extended family Tom and Lulu head and family. Pastor Harnum conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church on May 2, 2002. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook. Pallbearers were Gideon Burton, Lloyd James, Bruce Hewlett, Clarence Fifield, Wilbert Heath, Boyce Croucher and niece Carolyn Rideout.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Whitfield Arthur LeDrew, age 78, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte on Monday April 30, 2002. Predeceased by his parents Allan and Violet LeDrew; mother to his children Ruby (nee Penney); sisters Maud Whalen and Violet Morey. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Florence, Baie Verte; sons Ivan (Elizabeth Hiltz), Tony (Brenda), Jerry, Dennis all of Antigonish, NS and Rick, Baie Verte; daughter Golda Wheeler (Tony), Sparwood, BC; stepsons Garland (Jean), Foxtrap, Gerald (Victoria), Baie Verte; stepdaughter Dorothy Coish (Llewelyn), Bay de Verde; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; his dear and special friends at the Dorset Manor and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Bruce Mills conducted the funeral service at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Smith's Hr on Thursday, May 2, 2002. Interment was at Bayview United Cemetery. Pallbearers were Andy LeDrew, Tom Collett, Dwayne Shiner, Rodman Shiner, Grayden Shiner and Carl Penney.
