DICKS, DONALD CYRIL
SOUTH BROOK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Cyril Dicks announce his passing at the Green Bay Health Care Hospital, Springdale on December 2, 2001, at the age of 68. Donald Dicks was a member of the Pentecostal Church, South Brook. He retired from logging. Predeceased by his parents Irene and Merrick Dicks; sister Georgina; brothers Bobby and William. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Joy; son Stephen (adopted) and daughter Jodie of South Brook. Also leaving to mourn are: sisters, Ruby, Clara, Rose, Linda, Audrey and Vina; brothers Wilfred, Allan, Eric, Sam and Leonard; grandson Tyler and special friends Crissie Croucher and Jack Sturge. Pastor Harnum conducted the funeral service at the pentecostal Church on December 4, 2001. Interment was at the South Brook Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rocky Morey, Don Higdon, Reg Fowlow, Jack Sturge, Archie Morey and Elvis Thomas.

BURTON, DOLLIS
SOUTH BROOK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dollis Burton announce her passing at the Springdale Hospital on December 4, 2001 at the age of 80. She was a member of the Women's Ministries of South Brook, Bible Study at Valley Vista and Memory Lane. Predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband Rueben; sons Carl (Barb), Slave Lake, AB, Howard (Linda), Robert's Arm, Herman (Dorothy), Espanolla, ON, Fred (Judy), Edmonton, AB, Everett (Irene), South Brook and Floyd, Espanolla, ON; daughters Trixie (Cecil), South Brook, Wavey (Darius), Springdale, Annie, Bishop's Falls, Joy (Robert), Timberlea, NS, Sharon (Owen), Espanolla, ON, Myra (Danny), Campbell ton and Inez (Bob), Fort MacMurray, AB. Also leaving to mourn are 33 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and sister Lovelett Whalen. Pastor Harnum conducted the funeral service at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle on December 8, 2001. Interment was at the South Brook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keon Fowlow, Shawn Roberts, Robert Burton, Russell Noseworthy, Jeremy Chippett, Daphne Burton and Teri-lynn Noseworthy.

EVELEIGH, HEDLEY STERLING
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hedley Sterling Eveleigh, age 67, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Wednesday, December 5, 2001. Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Mae Eveleigh; brother Edward and sister Eleanor and granddaughter Sonia Keats. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Shirley; sons Lorenzo (Debbie), Grande Cache, AB and Hughie (Pansy), Seal Cove; daughters Christine Rice (Roger), Seal Cove, Cindy Parsons (Dave), Bonneyville, AB, Jennifer Keats (Derrick), Fort MacMurray, AB, Marina Eveleigh, Seal Cove and Candace Eveleigh, Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn are: brothers Leaman (Sue) and Albert (Marion); sisters Minnie Nash (Walter), Edna MacLean (Al) and Jessie Musseau (Alex); 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Capt. Paul Blake conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Seal Cove on Saturday, December 8, 2001. Pallbearers were Junior Gavin, Dane Miller, Alymer Osbourne, Francis Osbourne, Wallace Chaulk and Gary Rideout.

WHALEN, JOHN GIDEON
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Gideon Whalen, age 76, announce his passing at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax on Sunday, December 9, 2001. Predeceased by his parents John and Eliza Whalen and brother Eric. Left to forever cherish their wonderful memories are: wife Gladys; sons Paul (Margaret) Sydney, Australia and John (anne), Harwood, ON; daughters Glenda Simon (Melvin), Truro, NS and Janice Acreman (Gerald), Baie Verte; grandchildren Joanne and Melissa Whalen and Stephen and Stephanie Acreman. Also leaving to mourn are: brother Cyril Whalen (Ruby) and sister Josie Hamlyn (Howard) all of Corner Brook and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev Sidney Payne and Marilyn Avery conducted the memorial service at Bethany United Church, Baie Verte on Thursday, December 13, 2001.

BOUZAN (BUTT), VERNA HELEN
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Verna Helen Bouzan (Butt) announce her passing at the Springdale Hospital on December 12, 2001 at the age of 52 years. Predeceased by her mother Jessie and father Charles. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband Ronald and sons Shawn (Debbie), Brampton and Cory, St. Patrick's. Also leaving to mourn are: brothers Ivan (Verna), Wayne (Brenda) and family, Gordon (Lorinda) and family and Andre (Susan); sisters Joan (Vince) and family, Evelyn (Gregory) and family, Marilyn (Brian) and family, Donna (Lorne) and family, Glenda (Eric) and family, Brenda (Elmo) and family, Beverley (Dennis) and family and Audra (Perry) and family; and granddaughters Samantha and Isabelle. Fr. E. Morris conducted the funeral service at the Roman Catholic Church, St. Patrick's on December 15, 2001. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Springdale. Pallbearers were Gordon Butt, Wayne Butt, Ivan Butt and Andre Butt (brothers), Shawn Bouazan (son) and Lorne Hobbs (brother-in-law).

TOMS, MARTHA LAVINIA
LA SCIE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martha Lavinia Toms, age 73, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Thursday, December 13, 2001. Predeceased by her parents Lewis and Rebecca Andrews; first husband Garland Lacey; step-sisters Emma Gillingham and Lovey Watkins and step-brother John Andrews. Left with fond and loving memories are husband Willie Toms; sons Don Lacey (Cathy Furey), Baie Verte and Barry Lacey (Sandra Newell, Gander; daughters Judy Critch (Sandy) and Florence Whalen (Thomas) all of La Scie, Fiona Dove (DAnny), Kapuskasing, ON; step-daughters Jo-anne Toms, Lewisporte and Wanda Pearce (Alvin), Shoal Harbour. Also leaving to mourn are: brothers George Andrews (Ella), Pearce Andrews (Shirley) and Maxwell Gordon (Yvonne), 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Kean conducted the funeral service at Zion United Church, La Scie on Sunday, December 16, 2001. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery.

MERCER, JAMES J.
ST. PATRICK'S

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James J. Mercer announce his passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizen's Home, Springdale on December 14, 2001 at the age of 82. Predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth and sisters Catherine and Mary Ellen. Leaving to mourn are: first cousins, Catherine Walker and William Joy and a large number of other cousins and friends. Father Morris conducted the funeral service at the Roman Catholic Church, St. Patrick's on December 18, 2001. Interment was at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Patrick's. Pallbearers were Greg Mercer, Francis Joy, John Walker, John Baker, William Curran, Johnny Baker and William Kirby.

PADDOCK, NATHANIEL GARFIELD
ROBERT'S ARM

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nathaniel Garfield Paddock, age 88, announce his passing at the Green Bay Community Health Care Centre, Springdale on December 14, 2001. Predeceased by his mother, father, three sisters and four brothers. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Myrtle; sons Edward (Rose) and Donald (Ada) both of Robert's Arm; daughters Mary (Gerald), Robert's Arm and Rowena (Alvin), Triton; brothers Brose and Munn; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Tucker conducted the funeral service at the United Church, Robert's Arm on Sunday, December 16, 2001. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Robert's Arm. Pallbearers were: Perry Anthony, Dennis Young, Ken Jenkins, Trevor Whalen, Derek Payne and Morley Roberts.

HEWLETT, CLIFFORD WILSON
SPRINGDALE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clifford Wilson Hewlett announce his passing at the Valley Vista, Springdale on December 15, 2001 at the age of 78. Clifford was a member of the Grace United Church, an honourary firefighter and life member of Lions International. He retired from Hewlett Group. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife Audrey; sons Alvin (Peggi), St. John's, Clyde (Joan), Houston, TX and David (Maureen), Houston, TX; daughters Sandra (Corvin) Colbourne, Manitouwadge, ON and Marilyn (Ted) Earle, Springdale. Also leaving to mourn: sister Marjorie Fudge (Alonzo) and nine grandchildren. Rev. Davis conducted the funeral service at the Grace United Church on December 19, 2001. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: firefighters Mabrey Winsor, Rayfield Wells, Joe Wells, Everett Pitts, Barry Earle and Bernard Sheppard.

WARFORD, WILLIAM STEPHEN GARFIELD
RATTLING BROOK

It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Stephen Garfield Warford announce his passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizen's Complex, Springdale on December 21, 2001 at the age of 85. William was a member of the Salvation Army, King's Point. He was predeceased by his wife Blake six-and-a-half months ago. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are: sons - Allan (Wavey), Wayne (Bonnie) both of King's Point, Dennis (Alva), Everett (Beulah) and Lloyd (Thelma) all of Rattling Brook; daughters - Ruth Pickett (Eleazor), Centreville, Rose White (Rocco), Fort McMurray, AB, Audine Anstey (Lloyd) and Roxanne Kelley (Barry) both of King's Point. Also leaving to mourn are: 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captain Ralph Young conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, King's Point on December 23, 2001. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery, King's Point. Pallbearers were grandchildren Jeremy Warford, Justin Warford, Dwight Warford, Geoff Warford, Michael Anstey and great grandson Maurice Newbury.

SACREY, EUGENE
FORT MACMURRAY (formerly of Seal Cove)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eugene Sacrey, age 45, announce his passing at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, on Sunday, December 23, 2001. Predeceased by his parents, Garland and Lenora Sacrey and mother-in-law, Marie Drover. Left to forever cherish their wonderful memories are: his children - Jonathan, Carol Jean and Lucas; their mother Nadine, all of Fort MacMurray; daughters - Ruth Ann and Erica of Newfoundland; sister Daisy (Otto); brothers - Clarence, Leslie, Daniel (Peggy), Fred (Janice), Harold (Audrey) and Cordell (Joanne); sisters-in-law - Doris Sacrey and Ruth Sacrey; aunts and uncles - Dorothy and Harold Foster, Frank and Blanche Pinksen and Hazel Osbourne. Also leaving to mourn are: father-in-law Lawrence Drover, sisters-in-law Peggy (Paul) and Deborah (Pat); brothers-in-law Gerard (Linda), Rick (Cathy), Ken (Lou), Barry, Tom and Sandy; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captains Paul and Michelle Blake conducted the memorial service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Seal Cove on Sunday, December 30, 2001. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Woodstock.

ROEBOTTOM, GLOSSIE
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Glosssie Rowbottom announce his passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Center, Botwood on December 23, 2001 at the age of 84. Mr. Rowbottom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Left with fond and loving memories are: his wife Meta; son Kayward, Lushes Bight and daughter Maxine (Brian Vietch), Lake Echo, NS. Also leaving to mourn: three sisters; one brother; six grandchildren and many friends. Captain Raymond Feltham conducted the funeral service at the Long Island Salvation Army Church on December 27, 2001. Interment was at the Long Island Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dosson Slade, Wade Oake, Lorne Morgan, Travis Slade, Michael Rowbottom and Kayward Rowbottom.

WINSOR, OBEDIAH
Passed away December 25, 2001, peacefully after a lengthy illness, Obediah Winsor, at the Valley Vista Home, Springdale at the age of 90. He was a resident of Robert's Arm and retired from Bowater's in 1976. Predeceased by his son Moody in 1993. Left to mourn are: wife Stella; sons Junior (Rosabelle), Lewisporte and Glenn (Verona), Triton; daughters Shirley (Harvey Vincent), Robert's Arm and Effie (Lloyd Colbourne), Robert's Arm. Also leaving to mourn are sister Celia Vincent; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor W. Noble conducted the funeral service at the Word of Life Tabernacle, Robert's Arm on December 27, 2001. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Robert's Arm. Pallbearers were Travis Vincent, Con Vincent, Carl Ryan, Ron Young, Fred Parsons and Tony Burton.

WALSH, WILLIAM
TORONTO, ON (formerly of Coachman's Cove)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Walsh, age 67, announce his passing at his residence in Toronto on December 28, 2001. Predeceased by his father Joseph. Left to mourn are: his special friend Muriel Thornton, with whom he resided; sons - Reg (Bonny), Kamloops, BC and Alex (Kim), St. John, NB; daughters - Geraldine (Bob), Logan Lake, BC, Bernadette (Rob), Toronto, ON and Delores, Burlington, ON and their mother Margaret Walsh, Kamloops, BC. Also leaving to mourn are: his mother Mary C. Walsh; brothers - Gerard (Kathleen), Lawrence, Bernard (Molly) and Cecil (Floss); seven grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral service at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Coachman's Cove on Wednesday, January 2, 2002. Pallbearers were Alex Walsh, Reg Walsh, Gerard Walsh, Bern Walsh, Cecil Walsh, Lar Walsh and the crossbearer was Patrick Walsh.

EASTMAN, ANNIE
MIDDLE ARM

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Annie Eastman, age 81, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte on Friday, December 28, 2001. Predeceased by her husband James; parents Ernest and Sarah Reid; sisters - Hazel Reid, Blanche Strowbridge, Sylvia Reid and brother Harold Reid. Left with fond and loving memories are son Harold (Joyce), New Brunswick; daughter Bertha Mitchell (Raymond), Middle Arm; sisters - Ruth Best, Sadie Hollett, Elsie Best, Jean Penney (John), Irene Howell (John) and Meta Beazley; brothers - Ernest Reid (Annie) and Gordon Reid (Ethel). Also leaving to mourn are six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Leighton Foster conducted the funeral service at Bayview Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Middle Arm on Monday, December 31, 2001. Pallbearers were Jimmy Eastman, John Rideout, Arthur Mitchell, Bond Mitchell, Herbert Janes, Raymond Noseworthy and honorary pallbearer was Adam Rideout.

PYNN, EDNA MOSS
SPRINGDALE

Passed away on December 29, 2001, peacefully, Edna Moss Pynn at the Springdale Hospital, Springdale. She was 80 years old and a member of the Salvation Army Home League. Predeceased by her mother, father, daughter Gloria and brother Ronald. Left to mourn are her husband Gordon; sons Baxter (Iris), Springdale and Wade (Kim), Springdale; daughters Audene (Lloyd Toms), Drayton Valley, AB and Sylvia (Robert McLeod), Ottawa, ON. Also leaving to mourn are sisters - Joyce Murkin, Hazel Palmer and Daisy Guy; brothers - Donald and Walter Belbin, 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Major Gary Butt conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Springdale on December 31, 2001. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Belbin, Seymour Guy, Frank Palmer, Kent Toms, Otto Saunders and Andre Saunders
