STRICKLAND, ROWENA MARGARET -
Passed peacefully away on July 5, 2000, Rowena Margaret Strickland at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home in Springdale. She was born April 23, 1912 at Paddock's Bight. Predeceased by her husband Herbert Strickland and son Harold Strickland. Left to mourn are sons Ronald Strickland (wife Blanche) of St. Anthony, Roy Strickland (wife Mable) of Pilley's Island, Hubert (wife Evelyn) of Pilley's Island, Collin of Pilley's Island and Claude, also of Pilley's Island; daughters Marvin Inder and the late Arch Inder of Point Leamington, and Pearl Fifield and the late Cyril Fifield of Pilley's Island. Also leaving to mourn sister Flossie Smart, 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. H. Tucker conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Pilley's Island. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery.

JACOBS, MAXWELL -
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Jacobs announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Saturday, July 8, 2000. He was 71 years old. Predeceased by his father - Samuel, and his sister - Melvie Spurrell. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife- Mary; sons - Wayne (Juanita), Baie Verte, Roger (Viola), Baie Verte, Chris, Toronto, ON., Ron McCarthy, St. Anthony; daughter - Linda Law (Donald), Trenton, ON.. Also leaving to mourn: mother - Annie Jacobs, Clarenville; sisters - Marion Foote, Sunnyside, Joyce Jacobs (Lindsay), Pickering, ON., Wavey Avery (Clifford), Long Beach; brothers - Wilson (Annie), Clarenville, Stewart (Louise), Cecil (Alice) and Levi, all of Little Heart's Ease; nine grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Marilyn Avery conducted the funeral service at Bethany United Church, Baie Verte on Tuesday, July 11, 2000. Interment followed at the Bethany United Church Cemetery, Baie Verte.

McKAY, EVA NORETTA -
SOUTH BROOK

Passed away July 10, 2000 after a lengthy illness, Eva Noretta McKay at her home in South Brook. She was 80 years old. She was predeceased by husband - Harold, son - Pat, and stepson - Lewis. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons - Warrick (Ruth), Mike (Stella), both of South Brook, Rex (Joy), Baxter (Fannie), both of Happy Valley-Goose Bay; step-son - Selby (Geraldine), South Brook; daughters - Daisy Matthews (Edward), Eileen Matthews (Ernest), both of South Brook, Joan Mesher (Ford), Happy Valley-Goose bay; step-daughter - Cora Penney, South Brook. Also leaving to mourn: 44 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Bill Harnum and Pastor Vanzel Quinlan conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Tabernacle, South Brook on July 13, 2000. Interment followed at the Pentecostal Cemetery, South Brook.

GILLINGHAM, EDMUND ROBERT -
WESTPORT

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edmund Robert Gillingham announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Tuesday, July 11, 2000. He was 89 years old. Predeceased by: two sons; one daughter; granddaughter - Nicole Barker and brother - Augustus Gillingham. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Ethel, sons - Chris (Grace), Westport, Hubert (Jeanette), Gander, Leander (Christine), Westport, Wilson (Patricia), Westport, Clarence (Cecilia), Baie Verte and adopted son - Melvin (Lelani), Edmonton, AB; daughters, Shirley Davis (Melvin), Westport, Olive Barker (Ron), Baie Verte and Doris Jacobs (Wallace), Westport. Also leaving to mourn: brother - Clarence Gillingham, Sop's Arm; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Diane Brett-Frye conducted the funeral service at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Westport on Friday, July 14, 2000. Interment followed at St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Westport.

THOMAS, WESLEY CALVIN -
SOUTH BROOK.

Passed away July 15, 2000, Wesley Calvin Thomas of South Brook, at the Green Bay Health Care Centre. He was 64. Predeceased by: son Calvin; father John Thomas; brothers Ozzie and William Thomas. Left ot mourn are: wife Mildred; sons Paul (Dorothy) of Brampton, ON, James (Becky) of Moose Jaw, SK, Wesley (Georgette) of Brampton,ON; daughters Patsy (David) of Oshawa, ON and Laura (Dave) of Utterson, ON. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Shirley Paul, Keswick, ON, Stella Thomas, Newmarket, On, Barbara Hewitt, Virginiatown, ON; brothers Harold, Fred and Roy; 11 grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Harnum conducted the funeral service at Calvary Pentecostal Church, South Brook on Wednesday, July 19, 2000. Interment was at the South Brook Pentecostal Cemetery.

TRAVERSE, WILLIAM JOHN -
FLEUR DE LYS

Passed away July 15, 2000 after a lengthy illness William John Traverse at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre. He was 61. Predeceased by: daughter Viola; father Robert and sister Bride Walsh. Left to mourn are: wife Florence of Fleur De Lys; sons - Junior (friend Samantha) of Scarborough, ON, Jeffrey (friend Bernadetta) of Fleur De Lys, Calvin (wife Jay) of Scarbouough, ON, Darren (friend Mary) of Baie Verte; daughters - Nicole (husband Tom Noftall) of Fleur de Lys and Candice (friend Jamie Walsh) of Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Margaret (John), Alice (Michael), Rita (Gordon), Anne, Madonna, Helen (Tom); brothers - Tom (Chris), Anthony, Robert (Bernadette) and Edward (Judy); five grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Pius conducted the funeral service at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic church, Fleur De Lys on Thursday, July 20, 2000. Interment was at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Cemetery.

SHORT, DORMAN -
ROBERT'S ARM.

Passed away July 16, 2000, peacefully, Dorman Short at The Central Newfoundland Hospital, Grand Falls -Windsor. He was 79 years old. Mr. Short retired in 1979 and was a World War II veteran serving in Scotland. Predeceased by wife Bessie in 1987 and son Romeo in 1992. Left to mourn are: son Nichoals (Maryann) of Mississauga, ON; daughters Lulu (Cyril) of Beachside, Phyllis (Austin) of Manitouwadge, ON and Rebecca (Corvin) of Brighton. Also leaving to mourn: sisters Elsie Critch, Springdale and Lily Oxford, Little Bay Islands; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Noble conducted the funeral service at the Word of Life Tabernacle, Robert's Arm on Thursday, July 20, 2000. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery.

PHILPOTT, DAVID PATRICK -
COACHMAN'S COVE.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late David Patrick Philpott, age 72, announce his passing on July 18, 2000 which occurred at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre, Botwood. He was predeceased by his parents - Thomas and Mary Margaret Philpott. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Carmel; sons - Michael (Sylvia), Labrador City, David (Kelly), Campbell River, BC, Anthony (Susan), Fleur De Lys. Dominic (Theresa), Red Deer, AB, Charles, Coachman's Cove; daughters - Dorothy Snook, Salmonier Line, Patricia Philpott, Labrador City, and Elizabeth Hurley (Cyril), Baie Verte. Also leaving to mourn; sisters - Catherine Callahan, St. John's, Jane Walsh, St. John's, Gertrude Walsh (Lawrence), Coachman's Cove; brother - Francis Philpott (Hazel), Tumbler Ridge, BC; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Coachman's Cove on July 21, 2000.

BURTON, BRUCE DONALD
ROBERT'S ARM.

Passed away July 20, 2000, Bruce Donald Burton at the age of 47 in Robert's Arm. Predeceased by father - Andrew and mother - Nellie. Left ot mourn are: sisters Betty, Jean, Joy, Evelyn, Vera, Joyce, Kay and Rosemary; brothers Clyde, Gerald, Jerry, Randy, Dennis, Dwayne and Kevin; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Capt. Austin Randell conducted the funeral service at the Pentecostal Church, Robert's Arm on July 23, 2000. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Robert's Arm.

DOWDEN, DAVID STEPHEN WAYNE
TRITON

It is with great sadness that the family of the late David Stephen Wayne Dowden announce his passing at Hamilton, Ontario on July 23, 2000. He was 47 years of age. He was predeceased by his father - Cyril Dowden. Left with fond and precious memories are: wife - Stella; daughter - Dawn Milley, Rankin Inlet, NWT; and mother - Lily Dowden. Also leaving to mourn are: sisters - Annette Wimboldt, Nova Scotia and Lydia Budgell, Triton; brother Denny Cross (Sandra), Nova Scotia; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captains Robert and Dana Reid conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Triton on July 27, 2000. Interment followed at Triton Community Cemetery.

FUDGE, ROWENA VINE
BRIGHTON

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rowena Vine Fudge announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Complex on July 24, 2000. She was 87 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband Baxter and daughter Gladys Young. Left with fond and loving memories are: sons - Donald (Jacqueline), Brighton, Rupert (Sandra), Pleaman (Mildred), both of Robert's Arm, Hayward (Patsy), Brighton and Eric (Letsie), Calgary, AB; daughters - Doris Pinsent, Brighton and Marjorie Colbourne (Gilbert), Robert's Arm. Also leaving to mourn: brother Pleaman Bridger, Springdale; 34 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Lieutenants Wayne and Gerri Durdle conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Brighton on July 26, 2000. Interment followed at Brighton Community Cemetery.

GREEN, CLAYTON
BURLINGTON

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clayton Green announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, on July 27, 2000. He was 72 years old. Mr. Green owned and operated Clayton Green and Sons General Store at Baie Verte from 1956 to 1996. Mr. Green is predeceased by his parents Chesley and Martha Green and sister Eileen Gilley. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Joycelyn; sons - Paul (Elizabeth), St. John's, David (Bonnie), St. John's, Robert (Lorilee), Burlington, Peter (Darlene), Ottawa, ON; daughters - Barbara Noble (Lewis), Burlington, Hope Oliver (Patrick), St. John's, Gloria Green, Botwood, Heather Newbury (Trevor), Scotsburn, NS. Also leaving to mourn: 13 grandchildren; brothers - Witfield (Betty), Toronto, ON, Edward (Nellie), Springdale, Roy Green, Baie Verte, and a large circle of relatives and special friends. Rev. Wallace Squires conducted the funeral service at Bethany United Church, Baie Verte on Sunday, July 30, 2000. Interment followed at Bethany United Church Cemetery, Baie Verte.
