RIDEOUT, LAWRENCE ROOSEVELT -
Passed away after a lengthy illness on May 8, 2000, Lawrence Roosevelt Rideout, at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home. He was 81 years of age. Mr. Rideout was a Mechanic/Electrician and he retired from the Town of Springdale in 1980. He was predeceased by his parents Jasper and Clara and his brother George. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Della; sons - Gerald (Verlie), Springdale, Donald (Bridget), Churchill Falls, Lloyd (Patsy), Springdale; daughters - Margaret Burton (Claude), Robert's Arm, Jean Fahie (Keith), Greenwood, N.S., Marie Topshie, Moncton, N.B. and Olive Morey (Lorne), La Scie. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Dorcus, Ida, Gwenlyn and Blanche; brothers - Donald, Ford and Robert; 12 grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Marion Davis conducted the funeral service at Grace United Church, Springdale on May 10, 2000. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Springdale.

FUDGE, VIOLET JOSEPHINE -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Violet Josephine Fudge announce her passing at her home in Toronto, ON. on May 9, 2000. She was 74 years of age. Mrs. Fudge was a faithful member of the Salvation Army. She was predeceased by: her first husband - William Wiseman; sisters - Annie Wellman, Joyce Dicks and Pearl Huxter; and brother Arthur Saunders. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband - Arthur; sons - Wilbert Wiseman (Peggy), Alabama, Lloyd Wiseman (Teresa), Toronto and George Wiseman (Mavis), Springdale. Also leaving to mourn: step-sister - Laura Way, Toronto; brother John Saunders, Springdale; nine grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Capt. Gary Butt conducted the funeral service at the Salvation Army Citadel, Springdale on May 15, 2000. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Springdale.

CROUCHER, ROSIE MURIEL -
Passed away May 12, 2000, after a lengthy illness Rosie Muriel Croucher at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Winsor. She was 78. Mrs. Croucher was predeceased by her husband, three brothers and four sisters. Left to mourn are: sons - Kenneth of Robert's Arm, Nat (wife Anne) of Lower Sackville, NS, Bert (Doreen) of Robert's Arm, Willie (Menett) of Beaumont and Wade (Peggy) of Robert's Arm; daughters - Violet (Bob) Vujaklisa of Toronto, ON, and Darline of Robert's Arm. Also leaving to mourn are: sister Marie Brown; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Avery conducted the funeral service at the United Church in Robert's Arm. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery.

DROVER, MARIE -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marie Drover announce her passing on May 17, 2000 which occurred at her family residence in Baie Verte. She was 62 years old. Marie was a very active member of the St. Pius X Parish and she gave willingly of her time by visiting with the sick and visiting with local seniors. She was predeceased by her parents - Andrew and Jane Fitzgerald and her special little girl - Geneva. Left with fond and loving memories are: husband - Lawrence; sons - Gerald (Linda), Chetwyn, BC, Rick (Cathy), Saskatoon, SK, Ken (Lou), Fraser Lake, BC, Barry, Fraser Lake, BC, Tom, Chetwyn, BC, Sandy, Vancouver, BC; daughters - Peggy Wheeler (Paul), Tumbler Ridge, BC, Deborah Bailey (Patrick), Tumbler Ridge, BC, Nadine Sacrey, Ft. McMurray, AB. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Margaret Walsh (Alphonsus), Helena Shea (Thomas), Shirley Shea (Gerald), and Patricia Fitzgerald; brothers - Ron (Marion), Eric (Marlene), and Rick (Jaunita); 13 grandchildren; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at the St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte on May 20, 2000. Interment followed at the St. Pius Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte.

TOMS, CLARENCE RAYMOND -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clarence Raymond Toms announce his passing on May 17, 2000, at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's. He was 69 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents - Jacob and Dorcus Toms, brother - Frank and mother-in-law Mary Cramm. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Elvina; daughter - Greta Ryan (Craig) and grandson - Cruz. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Mildred Morey, La Scie, Hilda Ryan, Robert's Arm; brother - Willie Toms (Martha), La Scie; father-in-law - Albert Cramm (Marie); sisters-in-law - Donella Norman (Herbert), Pacquet and Greta Decker (Terry), Woodstock and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Gary Adams conducted the funeral service at the Zion United Church, La Scie on May 20, 2000. Interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, La Scie.

RICE, HOWARD LEWIS -
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Howard Lewis Rice announce his passing on May 20, 2000, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook. He ws 69 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents - Frederick and Lenora Rice and brothers - Garland, Moses, Guy and Boyce. Left with fond and loving memories are: wife - Rowena; sons - Frank Vivian), Seal Cove, Fraser (Nina), Tumbler Ridge, BC; daughter - Beverly Parsons (John), Fort McMurray, AB; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn: sisters - Eileen Wheeler, Leah Banks and Muriel Elms; brother - Freake Rice and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Captains Brian and Betty Thomas conducted the funeral service at the White Dove Funeral Home, Baie Verte on May 22, 2000. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Seal Cove.

ROBINSON, HARLEN -
Passed away May 27, 2000, peacefully Harlen Robinson at the Dorset Manor, Baie Verte. He was 61 years old. Predeceased by sister - Eileen and brothers - Jim and Roy. Left to mourn are: wife Joan; sons - Truman (fiancé Diane Davidson) of Brampton, ON, Randy (fiancé Sonya Weir) of Guelph, ON and daughter Stephanie also of Guelph, ON. Also leaving to mourn: brothers - George (Rita) and Gerald (Pauline); two grandchildren - Stephan and Sabrina; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor H. Head conducted the funeral service at King's Point Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, May 31, 2000. Interment was at King's Point Interfaith Cemetery.

DOWNEY, AMBROSE VINCENT
BAIE VERTE

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ambrose Vincent Downey announce his passing on May 28, 2000 which occurred at the BVPHC, Baie Verte. He was 79 years old. Mr. Downey retired from Advocate Mines in 1984. He was predeceased by his parents - John A. and Florence Downey, brother - Bert and sister - Frances. Left with fond and loving memories are wife Elizabeth; daughter Kay Bourguignon (Pierre), Fredericton, NB and grandson Darrell Locke, Fredericton, NB. Also leaving to mourn brothers Elias (Mary Ann) Aloysius (Irene), Cyril (Majorie), Harold (Beatrice), Jack (Anita), sisters Flossie Shea, Madeline Shelley (Jack), Kathleen Bouzanne (Larry) and Carmel Phillips (Brent) and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Father Edward Brophy conducted the funeral mass at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Baie Verte on May 31, 2000. Interment followed at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Cemetery, Baie Verte.
