It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cluney Arthur Toms, age 84, announce his passing the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on Saturday, November 8, 2008. Predeceased by his parents, Matthias and Caroline Toms; son-in-law, Mack Croucher; infant brother, Cluney; parents-in-law, Arthur and Flora Toms; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred Toms, May Goulding; Doris Hancock; Daisy Toms and Melba Mitchell. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Alma, La Scie, NL; children, Betty Byrne (Rod), La Scie, NL, Rex Toms (Jean Quigley), La Scie, NL, Lloyd Toms (Mary-Ellen), Fort McMurray, AB, Wavey Burton (Tony), Edmonton, AB, Paul Toms (Linda), La Scie, NL, Peggy Toms (Rick Gray), La Scie, NL; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey Toms (Iona); brothers and sisters-in-law, Daphne Sacrey (Lorenzo), Edna Rideout (Victor), Vivian King and Pearl Toms; many nieces and nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. Bruce Rideout conducted the funeral service at Zion United Church and Cemetery, La Scie, NL on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Pallbearers were sons, Rex Toms, Lloyd Toms, Paul Toms and sons-in-law, Rod Byrne, Tony Burton and Rick Gray. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton’s Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

HAYES, RITA ELLEN
Rita Ellen Hayes, nee Walbourne
, passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes in Gander on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by husband, William, son, Edward and grandson, Thomas Mugford. Left with fond and loving memories are her daughters, Grace Mugford (William) of Gander, Regina Wright (Christopher) of St. John’s, Stella Gould (Lester) of Ramea, grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Stephanie, Paul and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Emma and Christopher; half-brothers, Kyran, Ronald, Benedict and Gerald Walbourne; half sister, Edna King and a large circle of family and friends. Father Eugene Morris conducted the funeral service at the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in St. Patrick’s, Green Bay on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kyran Walbourne, Gerard Walbourne, Christopher Wright, Lester Gould, William Mugford and Ronald Bouzan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear, Jim Maidment and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.

WISEMAN, DOUGLAS MARTIN
June 13, 1943-November 10, 2008

Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s on Monday, November 10, 2008, in the presence of his loving family, Douglas Martin Wiseman of Springdale in his 65th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife Phyllis; daughter Kelly (Dion) Foote of Dunville; sons Darren (Suzann) of Saint John, NB, Terry (Tammy) of Marystown, and Troy (Camille) of Gander; sisters Minnie (Fred) Brown of Gambo, Judy Blagdon of Gambo, and Rachel Wiseman of Hare Bay; brother Roderick (Melvina) Wiseman of Lewisporte; sisters-in-law Pansy Wiseman of Gander and Eileen Wiseman of Hare Bay; brother-in-law Jim Elliott of Hare Bay; grandchildren Sarah, Daniel, Davin, Kirkland, Megan, Emily and Victoria; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral service took place at the Salvation Army Citadel in Springdale on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery in Gander. In Douglas’s memory donations may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital or flowers gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of White Dove Funeral Homes.

CHIPP, SIDNEY DORMAN
Middle Arm, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sidney Dorman Chipp, age 83, announce his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Predeceased by his wife, Ida Chipp; daughter, Jean Mitchell (Bon); grandson, Wade Austin; parents, Isaac and Ellen Chipp; siblings, Effie Chipp, Johnny Chipp, and Herbert Chipp; parents-in-law, Obediah and Agnes Robinson; siblings-in-law, Clayton Robinson, Wesley Robinson (Elsie), Norman Robinson (Elsie), Elizabeth Austin (Gord), Palmer Budgell, Frederick Rideout, and Sarah May Robinson. Left with fond and loving memories are his children, Betty Noseworthy (Ray), Shirley Austin (Bon), Scott Thomas (Jessie), and Rhoda Smith (Sim), all of Middle Arm, NL, Elsie Greenham (Calvin), Ming’s Bight, NL, Yvonne Canning (Ross), Stratford, ON, and Morris Chipp (Nancy), Middle Arm, NL; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn siblings, Stella Budgell, Nipper’s Harbour, NL, and Melrose Rideout, King’s Point, NL; siblings-in-law, Pearl Rowsell (Sandy), Springdale, NL, and Fred Robinson, Middle Arm, NL; many nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Pastor Jeffery Green conducted the funeral service at Bayview Pentecostal Tabernacle, Middle Arm, NL on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Interment followed from Oceanview Interfaith Cemetery, Middle Arm, NL. Pallbearers were grandsons, Andy Smith, Jody Smith, Corey Greenham, Corwin Greenham, Brock Canning, and Bradley Canning. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton’s Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

DROVER, DOROTHY KATHLEEN
Harbour Round, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Kathleen Drover, age 74, announce her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre in Baie Verte, NL on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Predeceased by her husband, Bryan Drover; daughter, Doreen Drover; and parents, Thomas and Cecilia Walsh. Left with fond and loving memories are her children, Ronald Drover (Eileen), St. Patrick’s, NL, Gregory Drover (Regina), Harbour Round, NL, Thomas Drover (Diana), St. John’s, NL, Anita Donelle (Garry), North Bay, ON, Martin Drover (Sandra), St. George’s, NB, and Glenn Drover, Fort McMurray, AB; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings, Marjorie Downey (Cyril), Fleur de Lys, NL, Vivian Sullivan (Joseph), Kamloops, BC, Agnes Lewis (John), and Jerome Walsh, both of Fleur de Lys, NL; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late William "Bill" Hewitt, age 70, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Predeceased by his parents, William and Ida Hewitt; siblings, George Hewitt, Dulcie Hewitt, Betty Jacobs, Maxwell Hewitt, Pearl Jacobs, Lovetta Warren, Pheobe Decker, Eliza Gavin, Francis Hewitt, Alex Hewitt; great-grandsons, Bradley Furey and Ethan Gavin; parents-in-law, Stanley and Johannah Gale. NEWBURY, DAISY MAY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daisy May Newbury, age 78, announce her passing at North Haven Manor in Lewisporte, NL on Friday, November 28, 2008. Predeceased by her husband, Alexander Newbury; siblings, Fred Bartlett, Ron Bartlett, Ray Bartlett, John "Jack" Bartlett, Anne Hawkins, and Elsie O’Brien. Left with fond and loving memories are her children, Shirley Wheeler (Harold), Carter’s Cove, NL, Barry Newbury (Brenda), Brampton, ON, Marilyn Shelley (Tom), Fort McMurray, AB, and Sheila Newbury, Brampton, ON; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn, siblings, Marie Dwyer (Stan), Margaret Warford (Bill), Roy Bartlett (Betty), and Ross Bartlett (Gladys), and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Stockley conducted the funeral service at Riverside United Church and Cemetery, Burlington, NL on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Pallbearers were grandsons, Peter Wheeler, Marcus Wheeler, Kristopher Newbury, and nephews, Paul Bartlett, Dan Bartlett and Bradley Bartlett. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wimbleton’s Funeral Home, Baie Verte.

WEIR, ELMO FORD
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elmo Ford Weir announce his passing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario on November 30, 2008 at the age of 57. Elmo was a member of Ignace Gospel Church in Ignace Ontario for 8 years and Springdale Pentecostal Church his adult life. Elmo worked in maintenance and construction all his life, learning much of his skill under his father, Edmund and brother, Lloyd. Elmo finished his career as a caretaker with the Ontario Provincial Police for the last 8 years. In his spare time Elmo was a man of the outdoors. He loved fishing, boating, hunting, playing the guitar, singing and writing worship songs and reading the Bible. Predeceased by mother, Gladys Weir; sister – Betty; mother-in-law, Rita Austin and brother-in-law, Sherman Pelley. Left with fond and loving memories are, his wife, Joan’ son, Sheldon (Tonya) of Lloydminister, Alberta and daughter, Lorrie Lynn (Jeffrey Goudie) of Lloydminister, Alberta. Also leaving to mourn father, Edmund Weir; grandsons, Jordan and Joshua; brother, Lloyd (Neta); sisters, Barbara Oxford (Clarence), Donna Pollett (Donald); brothers-in-law, Orven, Bryce (Elma), David (Sherry), Danny (Colleen), Perry (Audra); sisters-in-law, Linda (Roy) Rowe, Gayle (Bruce) Purchase, Faye (Wade) Earle, Wendy Pelley, Peggy (Elwin) Stacey and a large number of nieces and nephews and friends. Pastor Lindsey Foster conducted the funeral service at the Springdale Pentecostal Church on December 5, 2008. Interment was at the Springdale Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Austin, Danny Austin, Allan Curtis, Roy Curtis, Kevin Oxford and Bruce Penney. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
