PENNEY - Wilfred John Penney, beloved husband of Edith Penney of Brooks, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home on April 3rd, 2008 at the age of 62 years. Born in Canning's Cove, Newfoundland on August 5th, 1945. Wilf received his education there. He moved to Alberta in 1979 and worked for Brooks Asphalt until his retirement in 2004. Wilf and Edith I Hillier were married on November 12th, 1992 and resided in Brooks. He will be remembered for his caring nature, for being a quiet spoken man and for always willing to help. Wilf loved his family; his grandchildren were his life, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers Eric, Alvin and Gerald and sister Beth. Wilf is survived by his loving family, wife Edith of Brooks; children Vicki Wilson and her husband Jeff of Brooks, Corey Penney of Calgary; Roger Penney of Brooks, Todd Martin and his wife Sharon of Olds and Tania Kettles and her husband Kyle of Brooks; grandchildren Katharine, Reece, Kade, Samantha, Vanessa, Sutherland, Sydney, Justin and Ryan; 3 sisters Ruth (Malcolm) Clouter, Shirley Smith and Wilhemina (Ray) Olford; brother Barry (Linda) Penney and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 8th at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Rev. Ken Wells officiated. In memory of Wilf, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Calgary Health Trust for Foothills Hospital Cardiac Care or Peter Lougheed Hospital Cardiac Care, Room AC 136, Special Services Building, 1403-29th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 2T6. PEDDLE, Mary Jane - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, April 8, 2008, Mary Jane Peddle, age 85, from Hodge's Cove. Predeceased by husband, Leonard; two sons, Leonard Jr. and Zane; grandson, James; parents, Mary Ann and Zachariah Hall; brothers, Bill, John and Jimmy; andsister, Elsie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, seven daughters; two sons; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends. Rested at the St. Mary's Anglican Church, Hodge's Cove from where the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Nelson Chatman, took place on Thursday, April 10, 2008 with interment following. AVERY, SONYA MARLENE
September 17, 1972 to April 8, 2008

After a short illness and a courageous fight at the Health Sciences Centre, Sonya left us to take care of her grandfather (Elias Avery Sr.), grandmothers (Deborah George) and (Jemima Avery). Leaving to mourn with fond and everlasting memories her parents, John and Roberta; one brother, Stacy; her dearly cherished nephew, Nickolas; grandfather, Harvey George; special aunt, Maisie; her two special boys, Devon Bowering and Damian Marsh; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, co-workers and a large circle of friends. Rested at Vardy's Funeral Home, Hickman's Harbour. Funeral officiated by Rev. Vera Abbott on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the United Church in Hickman's Harbour with interment following. Hansford, Suzette Katherine
1972-2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Suzette in Calgary, Alberta, on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the age of 35 years. Suzette fought a courageous battle with cancer, not once losing hope or giving up. She is survived by her treasured daughter, Maddison, devoted sister, Kim, her loving father, Tom and StepMother, TJaphne, Grandfather, Joseph Anthony, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and many friends. Suzette will also be missed dearly by her best friend, Jodi Simpson and cousin, Valerie Hancock. She was predeceased by her Mother Maisie. A Memorial service will be held at the Salvation Army Glenmore Temple (921-68 Ave., S.W. Calgary, Alberta) on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm. We would like to thank everyone at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre especially Dr. Mark Webster, Linda, Nancy, and Trish. A special thank you to the staff in Unit 47 in special Services at the Foothills. CHATMAN, Iris - Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center, St. John's on Friday, April 4, 2008, Iris Chatman of Cannings Cove, aged 84 years. Predeceased by husband, Thomas Chatman and brother, Joseph Penney. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter, Sherri (Gerry Frampton) of St. John's; sons, Rev. Nelson (Vida) Hodge's Cove, Rick (Jennie) of Cannings Cove, Ron (Irene) of St. John's, Shawn (Pauline) of Lethbridge, Murray (Cindy) of Canning's Cove; 15 grandchildren, seven great­ grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends. Rested at St. John The Divine Anglican Church, Cannings Cove with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Cannings Cove. CLARK - Passed peacefully away at the Miller Centre, on April 1, 2008, Irvine Clark, age 73, of King's Cove, Bonavista Bay. Predeceased by son, Henry. Leaving to mourn wife, Norma (Penney) Clark; son, Jerry (Cathy); grandson, Jay (Sarah); great-grandson, Jasper, three sisters, one brother and a large circle of relatives and friends. SKIFFINGTON, Myra - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Monday, April 7, 2008, Myra J. Skiffington of Clarenville, aged 75 years. SIMMONDS: We regret to announce the passing of Emily Simmonds, age 84, from Cannings Cove at the Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista, on April 15, 2008. Predeceased by parents, William and Annie Fitzgerald; husband, Reuben; sons, William and Robert; brothers, James, Llewellyn and Loyal; sisters, Georgina Quinton and Elizabeth Mesh. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are her children, Iris (Jack Ricketts), Wallace (Naomi), Ranee, Mary (Edward Matchem) and Ann (Jack Greening); 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and also a large number of other relatives and friends. It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the sudden passing of Martin in Fort McMurray, Alberta on April 16, 2008. Predeceased by parents Walter and Lucy Blackmore of Grand Falls-Windsor; beloved husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, son-in-law, cousin and special friend.
